וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֗ה לֹֽא־יָד֨וֹן רוּחִ֤י בָֽאָדָם֙ לְעֹלָ֔ם בְּשַׁגַּ֖ם ה֣וּא בָשָׂ֑ר וְהָי֣וּ יָמָ֔יו מֵאָ֥ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים שָׁנָֽה׃So the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days shall be 120 years.” 4Die Nefilim was in daardie dae op die aarde, en ook daarna, toe die seuns van God na die dogters van die mens ingegaan het en hulle vir hulle kinders gebaar het. Hulle was die helde wat van ouds af was, manne van naam.הַנְּפִלִ֞ים הָי֣וּ בָאָרֶץ֮ בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵם֒ וְגַ֣ם אַֽחֲרֵי־כֵ֗ן אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָבֹ֜אוּ בְּנֵ֤י הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ אֶל־בְּנ֣וֹת הָֽאָדָ֔ם וְיָלְד֖וּ לָהֶ֑ם הֵ֧מָּה הַגִּבֹּרִ֛ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר מֵעוֹלָ֖ם אַנְשֵׁ֥י הַשֵּֽׁם׃ פThe Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and afterward as well—when the sons of God had relations with the daughters of men. And they bore them children who became the mighty men of old, men of renown.

5En die HERE het gesien dat die boosheid van die mens groot was op die aarde, en dat elke bedenksel van die gedagtes van sy hart net boos was die hele dag.

וַיַּ֣רְא יְהוָ֔ה כִּ֥י רַבָּ֛ה רָעַ֥ת הָאָדָ֖ם בָּאָ֑רֶץ וְכָל־יֵ֨צֶר֙ מַחְשְׁבֹ֣ת לִבּ֔וֹ רַ֥ק רַ֖ע כָּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was altogether evil all the time. 6Toe het die HERE berou gehad dat Hy die mens op die aarde gemaak het, en Hy was tot in Sy hart bedroef.

וַיִּנָּ֣חֶם יְהוָ֔ה כִּֽי־עָשָׂ֥ה אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֖ם בָּאָ֑רֶץ וַיִּתְעַצֵּ֖ב אֶל־לִבּֽוֹ׃And the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7En die HERE het gesê: “Ek sal die mens wat Ek geskep het, van die aangesig van die aarde af uitwis, van mens tot vee, tot kruipende diere en tot die voëls van die hemel, want Ek het berou dat Ek hulle gemaak het.”וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֗ה אֶמְחֶ֨ה אֶת־הָאָדָ֤ם אֲשֶׁר־בָּרָ֨אתִי֙ מֵעַל֙ פְּנֵ֣י הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה מֵֽאָדָם֙ עַד־בְּהֵמָ֔ה עַד־רֶ֖מֶשׂ וְעַד־ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם כִּ֥י נִחַ֖מְתִּי כִּ֥י עֲשִׂיתִֽם׃So the LORD said, “I will blot out man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—every man and beast and crawling creature and bird of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them.” 8Maar Noag het guns gevind in die oë van die \nd HERE\nd*.וְנֹ֕חַ מָ֥צָא חֵ֖ן בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃ פNoah, however, found favor in the eyes of the LORD.

9Dit is die geskiedenis van Noag. Noag was 'n regverdige man, onberispelik was hy in sy geslagte. Met God het Noag gewandel.

אֵ֚לֶּה תּוֹלְדֹ֣ת נֹ֔חַ נֹ֗חַ אִ֥ישׁ צַדִּ֛יק תָּמִ֥ים הָיָ֖ה בְּדֹֽרֹתָ֑יו אֶת־הָֽאֱלֹהִ֖ים הִֽתְהַלֶּךְ־נֹֽחַ׃This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God. 10En Noag het drie seuns verwek: Sem, Gam en Jafet.וַיּ֥וֹלֶד נֹ֖חַ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה בָנִ֑ים אֶת־שֵׁ֖ם אֶת־חָ֥ם וְאֶת־יָֽפֶת׃And Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11En die aarde was verdorwe voor die aangesig van God, en die aarde was vol geweld.וַתִּשָּׁחֵ֥ת הָאָ֖רֶץ לִפְנֵ֣י הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים וַתִּמָּלֵ֥א הָאָ֖רֶץ חָמָֽס׃Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and full of violence. 12En God het die aarde gesien, en kyk, dit was verdorwe, want alle vlees het sy weg op die aarde verderf.וַיַּ֧רְא אֱלֹהִ֛ים אֶת־הָאָ֖רֶץ וְהִנֵּ֣ה נִשְׁחָ֑תָה כִּֽי־הִשְׁחִ֧ית כָּל־בָּשָׂ֛ר אֶת־דַּרְכּ֖וֹ עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ סAnd God looked upon the earth and saw that it was corrupt; for all living creatures on the earth had corrupted their ways.

13Toe sê God vir Noag: “Die einde van alle vlees het voor My gekom, want die aarde is vol geweld weens hulle. En kyk, Ek gaan hulle saam met die aarde verderf.”וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֜ים לְנֹ֗חַ קֵ֤ץ כָּל־בָּשָׂר֙ בָּ֣א לְפָנַ֔י כִּֽי־מָלְאָ֥ה הָאָ֛רֶץ חָמָ֖ס מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם וְהִנְנִ֥י מַשְׁחִיתָ֖ם אֶת־הָאָֽרֶץ׃Then God said to Noah, “The end of all living creatures has come before Me, because through them the earth is full of violence. Now behold, I will destroy both them and the earth. 14Maak vir jou 'n ark van goferhout; met kamers moet jy die ark maak, en jy moet dit van binne en van buite met pik bestryk.

עֲשֵׂ֤ה לְךָ֙ תֵּבַ֣ת עֲצֵי־גֹ֔פֶר קִנִּ֖ים תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֣ה אֶת־הַתֵּבָ֑ה וְכָֽפַרְתָּ֥ אֹתָ֛הּ מִבַּ֥יִת וּמִח֖וּץ בַּכֹּֽפֶר׃Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; make rooms in the ark and coat it with pitch inside and out. 15En so moet jy dit maak: 300 el die lengte van die ark, 50 el sy breedte en 30 el sy hoogte.

וְזֶ֕ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֖ה אֹתָ֑הּ שְׁלֹ֧שׁ מֵא֣וֹת אַמָּ֗ה אֹ֚רֶךְ הַתֵּבָ֔ה חֲמִשִּׁ֤ים אַמָּה֙ רָחְבָּ֔הּ וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים אַמָּ֖ה קוֹמָתָֽהּ׃And this is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. 16“'n Dak moet jy vir die ark maak, en tot een el moet jy dit van bo af voltooi; en die deur van die ark moet jy in sy kant sit. Onderste, tweede en derde verdiepings moet jy dit maak.”

צֹ֣הַר׀ תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֣ה לַתֵּבָ֗ה וְאֶל־אַמָּה֙ תְּכַלֶ֣נָּה מִלְמַ֔עְלָה וּפֶ֥תַח הַתֵּבָ֖ה בְּצִדָּ֣הּ תָּשִׂ֑ים תַּחְתִּיִּ֛ם שְׁנִיִּ֥ם וּשְׁלִשִׁ֖ים תַּֽעֲשֶֽׂהָ׃You are to make a roof for the ark, finish its walls a cubit from the top, place a door in the side of the ark, and build lower, middle, and upper decks. 17“En Ek, kyk, Ek bring die vloed, water, oor die aarde om alle vlees waarin 'n asem van lewe is, onder die hemel te verderf; alles wat op die aarde is, sal sterf.”וַאֲנִ֗י הִנְנִי֩ מֵבִ֨יא אֶת־הַמַּבּ֥וּל מַ֨יִם֙ עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ לְשַׁחֵ֣ת כָּל־בָּשָׂ֗ר אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹ֙ ר֣וּחַ חַיִּ֔ים מִתַּ֖חַת הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־בָּאָ֖רֶץ יִגְוָֽע׃And behold, I will bring floodwaters upon the earth to destroy every creature under the heavens that has the breath of life. Everything on the earth will perish. 18Maar Ek sal My verbond met jou oprig, en jy moet in die ark gaan, jy en jou seuns en jou vrou en die vroue van jou seuns met jou.וַהֲקִמֹתִ֥י אֶת־בְּרִיתִ֖י אִתָּ֑ךְ וּבָאתָ֙ אֶל־הַתֵּבָ֔ה אַתָּ֕ה וּבָנֶ֛יךָ וְאִשְׁתְּךָ֥ וּנְשֵֽׁי־בָנֶ֖יךָ אִתָּֽךְ׃But I will establish My covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. 19“En van alles wat leef, van alle vlees, twee van elkeen moet jy in die ark inbring om saam met jou in lewe te hou; 'n mannetjie en 'n wyfie moet hulle wees.”וּמִכָּל־הָ֠חַי מִֽכָּל־בָּשָׂ֞ר שְׁנַ֧יִם מִכֹּ֛ל תָּבִ֥יא אֶל־הַתֵּבָ֖ה לְהַחֲיֹ֣ת אִתָּ֑ךְ זָכָ֥ר וּנְקֵבָ֖ה יִֽהְיֽוּ׃And you are to bring two of every living creature into the ark—male and female—to keep them alive with you. 20Van die voëls volgens hulle soort en van die vee volgens hulle soort, van al die kruipende diere van die aarde volgens hulle soort: twee van elk sal na jou kom om hulle lewend te hou.מֵהָע֣וֹף לְמִינֵ֗הוּ וּמִן־הַבְּהֵמָה֙ לְמִינָ֔הּ מִכֹּ֛ל רֶ֥מֶשׂ הָֽאֲדָמָ֖ה לְמִינֵ֑הוּ שְׁנַ֧יִם מִכֹּ֛ל יָבֹ֥אוּ אֵלֶ֖יךָ לְהַֽחֲיֽוֹת׃Two of every kind of bird and animal and crawling creature will come to you to be kept alive. 21“En jy, neem vir jou van alle kos wat geëet word, en versamel dit by jou; en dit sal vir jou en vir hulle as voedsel wees.”וְאַתָּ֣ה קַח־לְךָ֗ מִכָּל־מַֽאֲכָל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֵֽאָכֵ֔ל וְאָסַפְתָּ֖ אֵלֶ֑יךָ וְהָיָ֥ה לְךָ֛ וְלָהֶ֖ם לְאָכְלָֽה׃You are also to take for yourself every kind of food that is eaten and gather it as food for yourselves and for the animals.” 22En Noag het dit gedoen; volgens alles wat God hom beveel het, so het hy gedoen.וַיַּ֖עַשׂ נֹ֑חַ כְּ֠כֹל אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֥ה אֹת֛וֹ אֱלֹהִ֖ים כֵּ֥ן עָשָֽׂה׃ סSo Noah did everything precisely as God had commanded him.
