command, Aaron the priest climbed Mount Hor and died there on the first day of the fifth month, in the fortieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt.39En Aäron was 123 jaar oud set out from the mountains of Abarim and camped on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.49En hulle het laer opgeslaan by die Jordaan, van Bet-Hajesimot af tot by Abel-Hassittim, in die 50En die HERE het met Moses gespreek in die vlaktes van Moab, by die Jordaan van Jerigo, en gesê:וַיְדַבֵּ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֖ה בְּעַֽרְבֹ֣ת מוֹאָ֑ב עַל־יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵח֖וֹ לֵאמֹֽר׃On the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho, the LORD said to Moses,51“Praat met die Israeliete en sê vir hulle: ‘Wanneer julle oor die Jordaan trek na die land Kanaän,דַּבֵּר֙ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאָמַרְתָּ֖ אֲלֵהֶ֑ם כִּ֥י אַתֶּ֛ם עֹבְרִ֥ים אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן אֶל־אֶ֥רֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you cross the Jordan into the land of Canaan,52moet julle al die inwoners van die land voor julle uit verdryf en al hulle gesnede figure vernietig; en al die beelde van hulle gietwerk moet julle vernietig, en al hulle offerhoogtes moet julle uitroei.וְה֨וֹרַשְׁתֶּ֜ם אֶת־כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵ֤י הָאָ֨רֶץ֙ מִפְּנֵיכֶ֔ם וְאִ֨בַּדְתֶּ֔ם אֵ֖ת כָּל־מַשְׂכִּיֹּתָ֑ם וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־צַלְמֵ֤י מַסֵּֽכֹתָם֙ תְּאַבֵּ֔דוּ וְאֵ֥ת כָּל־בָּמֹתָ֖ם תַּשְׁמִֽידוּ׃you must drive out before you all the inhabitants of the land, destroy all their carved images and cast idols, and demolish all their high places.53En julle moet die land in besit neem en daarin woon, want aan julle het Ek die land gegee om dit in besit te neem.וְהוֹרַשְׁתֶּ֥ם אֶת־הָאָ֖רֶץ וִֽישַׁבְתֶּם־בָּ֑הּ כִּ֥י לָכֶ֛ם נָתַ֥תִּי אֶת־הָאָ֖רֶץ לָרֶ֥שֶׁת אֹתָֽהּ׃You are to take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.54Julle moet die land by loting as erfdeel ontvang volgens julle families: vir die groot een moet julle sy erfdeel groter maak, en vir die klein een moet julle sy erfdeel kleiner maak. Waarheen die lot vir iemand uitkom, dit sal syne wees; volgens die stamme van julle vaders moet julle erfdeel ontvang.וְהִתְנַחַלְתֶּם֩ אֶת־הָאָ֨רֶץ בְּגוֹרָ֜ל לְמִשְׁפְּחֹֽתֵיכֶ֗ם לָרַ֞ב תַּרְבּ֤וּ אֶת־נַחֲלָתוֹ֙ וְלַמְעַט֙ תַּמְעִ֣יט אֶת־נַחֲלָת֔וֹ אֶל֩ אֲשֶׁר־יֵ֨צֵא ל֥וֹ שָׁ֛מָּה הַגּוֹרָ֖ל ל֣וֹ יִהְיֶ֑ה לְמַטּ֥וֹת אֲבֹתֵיכֶ֖ם תִּתְנֶחָֽלוּ׃And you are to divide the land by lot according to your clans. Give a larger inheritance to a larger clan and a smaller inheritance to a smaller one. Whatever falls to each one by lot will be his. You will receive an inheritance according to the tribes of your fathers.55Maar as julle die inwoners van die land nie voor julle uit verdryf nie, dan sal dié van hulle wat julle laat oorbly, dorings in julle oë en angels in julle sye wees, en hulle sal julle benoud maak in die land waarin julle woon.וְאִם־לֹ֨א תוֹרִ֜ישׁוּ אֶת־יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָרֶץ֮ מִפְּנֵיכֶם֒ וְהָיָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תּוֹתִ֣ירוּ מֵהֶ֔ם לְשִׂכִּים֙ בְּעֵ֣ינֵיכֶ֔ם וְלִצְנִינִ֖ם בְּצִדֵּיכֶ֑ם וְצָרֲר֣וּ אֶתְכֶ֔ם עַל־הָאָ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתֶּ֖ם יֹשְׁבִ֥ים בָּֽהּ׃But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides; they will harass you in the land where you settle.56En dit sal gebeur: soos Ek van plan was om met hulle te doen, so sal Ek met julle doen.’”וְהָיָ֗ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּמִּ֛יתִי לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לָהֶ֖ם אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֥ה לָכֶֽם׃ פAnd then I will do to you what I had planned to do to them.”
