וַיָּקֻ֨מוּ֙ לִפְנֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֔ה וַאֲנָשִׁ֥ים מִבְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים וּמָאתָ֑יִם נְשִׂיאֵ֥י עֵדָ֛ה קְרִאֵ֥י מוֹעֵ֖ד אַנְשֵׁי־שֵֽׁם׃a rebellion against Moses, along with 250 men of Israel renowned as leaders of the congregation and representatives in the assembly. 3En hulle het teen Moses en teen Aäron saamgekom en vir hulle gesê: “Dit is te veel vir julle! Want die hele vergadering, hulle almal is heilig, en die HERE is in hulle midde. Waarom verhef julle julleself bo die gemeente van die HERE?”וַיִּֽקָּהֲל֞וּ עַל־מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְעַֽל־אַהֲרֹ֗ן וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֲלֵהֶם֮ רַב־לָכֶם֒ כִּ֤י כָל־הָֽעֵדָה֙ כֻּלָּ֣ם קְדֹשִׁ֔ים וּבְתוֹכָ֖ם יְהוָ֑ה וּמַדּ֥וּעַ תִּֽתְנַשְּׂא֖וּ עַל־קְהַ֥ל יְהוָֽה׃They came together against Moses and Aaron and told them, “You have taken too much upon yourselves! For everyone in the entire congregation is holy, and the LORD is in their midst. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the LORD?” 4En Moses het dit gehoor en op sy aangesig geval.וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע מֹשֶׁ֔ה וַיִּפֹּ֖ל עַל־פָּנָֽיו׃When Moses heard this, he fell facedown. 5En hy het met Korag en sy hele vergadering gespreek en gesê: “In die môre sal die HERE bekend maak wie aan Hom behoort en wie heilig is, en Hy sal hom na Hom laat nader kom; en die een wat Hy kies, sal Hy na Hom laat nader kom.

Letterlik: sal die HERE weet wie syne is en wie die heilige is.

וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר אֶל־קֹ֜רַח וְאֶֽל־כָּל־עֲדָתוֹ֮ לֵאמֹר֒ בֹּ֠קֶר וְיֹדַ֨ע יְהוָ֧ה אֶת־אֲשֶׁר־ל֛וֹ וְאֶת־הַקָּד֖וֹשׁ וְהִקְרִ֣יב אֵלָ֑יו וְאֵ֛ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִבְחַר־בּ֖וֹ יַקְרִ֥יב אֵלָֽיו׃Then he said to Korah and all his followers, “Tomorrow morning the LORD will reveal who belongs to Him and who is holy, and He will bring that person near to Himself. The one He chooses He will bring near to Himself. 6Doen dit: neem vir julle vuurpanne, Korag en sy hele vergadering,זֹ֖את עֲשׂ֑וּ קְחוּ־לָכֶ֣ם מַחְתּ֔וֹת קֹ֖רַח וְכָל־עֲדָתֽוֹ׃You, Korah, and all your followers are to do as follows: Take censers, 7en sit vuur daarin en lê môre reukwerk daarop voor die aangesig van die HERE; en die man wat die HERE kies, hy sal die heilige wees. Dit is te veel vir julle, seuns van Levi!”וּתְנ֣וּ בָהֵ֣ן׀ אֵ֡שׁ וְשִׂימוּ֩ עֲלֵיהֶ֨ן קְטֹ֜רֶת לִפְנֵ֤י יְהוָה֙ מָחָ֔ר וְהָיָ֗ה הָאִ֛ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יִבְחַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה ה֣וּא הַקָּד֑וֹשׁ רַב־לָכֶ֖ם בְּנֵ֥י לֵוִֽי׃and tomorrow you are to place fire and incense in them in the presence of the LORD. Then the man the LORD chooses will be the one who is holy. It is you sons of Levi who have taken too much upon yourselves!” 8En Moses het vir Korag gesê: “Luister tog, seuns van Levi!וַיֹּ֥אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶל־קֹ֑רַח שִׁמְעוּ־נָ֖א בְּנֵ֥י לֵוִֽי׃Moses also said to Korah, “Now listen, you sons of Levi! 9Is dit te min vir julle dat die God van Israel julle afgeskei het van die vergadering van Israel, om julle na Hom te laat nader kom, om die diens van die tabernakel van die HERE te dien en om voor die vergadering te staan om hulle te bedien?הַמְעַ֣ט מִכֶּ֗ם כִּֽי־הִבְדִּיל֩ אֱלֹהֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל אֶתְכֶם֙ מֵעֲדַ֣ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לְהַקְרִ֥יב אֶתְכֶ֖ם אֵלָ֑יו לַעֲבֹ֗ד אֶת־עֲבֹדַת֙ מִשְׁכַּ֣ן יְהוָ֔ה וְלַעֲמֹ֛ד לִפְנֵ֥י הָעֵדָ֖ה לְשָׁרְתָֽם׃Is it not enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel and brought you near to Himself to perform the work at the LORD’s tabernacle, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them? 10en dat Hy jou en al jou broers, die seuns van Levi, saam met jou laat nader kom het? En soek julle ook die priesterskap?וַיַּקְרֵב֙ אֹֽתְךָ֔ וְאֶת־כָּל־אַחֶ֥יךָ בְנֵי־לֵוִ֖י אִתָּ֑ךְ וּבִקַּשְׁתֶּ֖ם גַּם־כְּהֻנָּֽה׃He has brought you near, you and all your fellow Levites, but you are seeking the priesthood as well. 11Daarom het jy en jou hele vergadering teen die HERE saamgekom; en Aäron, wat is hy, dat julle teen hom murmureer?”לָכֵ֗ן אַתָּה֙ וְכָל־עֲדָ֣תְךָ֔ הַנֹּעָדִ֖ים עַל־יְהוָ֑ה וְאַהֲרֹ֣ן מַה־ה֔וּא כִּ֥י עָלָֽיו׃Therefore, it is you and all your followers who have conspired against the LORD! As for Aaron, who is he that you should grumble against him?”

12En Moses het gestuur om Datan en Abiram, die seuns van Eliab, te roep; maar hulle het gesê: “Ons sal nie opkom nie.וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח מֹשֶׁ֔ה לִקְרֹ֛א לְדָתָ֥ן וְלַאֲבִירָ֖ם בְּנֵ֣י אֱלִיאָ֑ב וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ לֹ֥א נַעֲלֶֽה׃Then Moses summoned Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, but they said, “We will not come! 13“Is dit te min dat jy ons opgebring het uit 'n land wat van melk en heuning vloei, om ons in die woestyn te laat sterf, dat jy jou ook nog heeltemal as heerser oor ons gedra?”הַמְעַ֗ט כִּ֤י הֶֽעֱלִיתָ֨נוּ֙ מֵאֶ֨רֶץ זָבַ֤ת חָלָב֙ וּדְבַ֔שׁ לַהֲמִיתֵ֖נוּ בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר כִּֽי־תִשְׂתָּרֵ֥ר עָלֵ֖ינוּ גַּם־הִשְׂתָּרֵֽר׃Is it not enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness? Must you also appoint yourself as ruler over us? 14“Boonop het jy ons nie na 'n land gebring wat van melk en heuning vloei nie, en jy het ons nie 'n erfdeel van veld en wingerd gegee nie! Wil jy die oë van daardie manne uitsteek? Ons sal nie optrek nie.”אַ֡ף לֹ֣א אֶל־אֶרֶץ֩ זָבַ֨ת חָלָ֤ב וּדְבַשׁ֙ הֲבִ֣יאֹתָ֔נוּ וַתִּ֨תֶּן־לָ֔נוּ נַחֲלַ֖ת שָׂדֶ֣ה וָכָ֑רֶם הַעֵינֵ֞י הָאֲנָשִׁ֥ים הָהֵ֛ם תְּנַקֵּ֖ר לֹ֥א נַעֲלֶֽה׃Moreover, you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey or given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you gouge out the eyes of these men? No, we will not come!” 15Moses het baie kwaad geword en vir die HERE gesê: “Wend U nie tot hulle graanoffer nie. Ek het nie een esel van hulle weggeneem nie, en ek het nie een van hulle kwaad aangedoen nie.”וַיִּ֤חַר לְמֹשֶׁה֙ מְאֹ֔ד וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל־יְהוָ֔ה אַל־תֵּ֖פֶן אֶל־מִנְחָתָ֑ם לֹ֠א חֲמ֨וֹר אֶחָ֤ד מֵהֶם֙ נָשָׂ֔אתִי וְלֹ֥א הֲרֵעֹ֖תִי אֶת־אַחַ֥ד מֵהֶֽם׃Then Moses became very angry and said to the LORD, “Do not regard their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them or mistreated a single one of them.” 16Moses het vir Korag gesê: “Jy en jou hele vergadering, wees voor die aangesig van die HERE: jy, en hulle, en Aäron, môre.וַיֹּ֤אמֶר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־קֹ֔רַח אַתָּה֙ וְכָל־עֲדָ֣תְךָ֔ הֱי֖וּ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה אַתָּ֥ה וָהֵ֛ם וְאַהֲרֹ֖ן מָחָֽר׃And Moses said to Korah, “You and all your followers are to appear before the LORD tomorrow—you and they and Aaron. 17Neem, elkeen sy vuurpan, en sit reukwerk daarop, en bring, elkeen sy vuurpan, voor die aangesig van die HERE: 250 vuurpanne. En jy en Aäron, elkeen sy vuurpan.”וּקְח֣וּ׀ אִ֣ישׁ מַחְתָּת֗וֹ וּנְתַתֶּ֤ם עֲלֵיהֶם֙ קְטֹ֔רֶת וְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֞ם לִפְנֵ֤י יְהוָה֙ אִ֣ישׁ מַחְתָּת֔וֹ חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים וּמָאתַ֖יִם מַחְתֹּ֑ת וְאַתָּ֥ה וְאַהֲרֹ֖ן אִ֥ישׁ מַחְתָּתֽוֹ׃Each man is to take his censer, place incense in it, and present it before the LORD—250 censers. You and Aaron are to present your censers as well.” 18Hulle het elkeen sy vuurpan geneem en vuur daarin gesit en reukwerk daarop gelê, en hulle het by die ingang van die tent van samekoms gestaan, en Moses en Aäron.וַיִּקְח֞וּ אִ֣ישׁ מַחְתָּת֗וֹ וַיִּתְּנ֤וּ עֲלֵיהֶם֙ אֵ֔שׁ וַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּ עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם קְטֹ֑רֶת וַֽיַּעַמְד֗וּ פֶּ֛תַח אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵ֖ד וּמֹשֶׁ֥ה וְאַהֲרֹֽן׃So each man took his censer, put fire and incense in it, and stood with Moses and Aaron at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. 19En Korag het die hele vergadering teen hulle by die ingang van die tent van samekoms versamel; en die heerlikheid van die HERE het aan die hele vergadering verskyn.וַיַּקְהֵ֨ל עֲלֵיהֶ֥ם קֹ֨רַח֙ אֶת־כָּל־הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה אֶל־פֶּ֖תַח אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֑ד וַיֵּרָ֥א כְבוֹד־יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־כָּל־הָעֵדָֽה׃ פWhen Korah had gathered his whole assembly against them at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, the glory of the LORD appeared to the whole congregation.

20En die HERE het met Moses en met Aäron gespreek en gesê:וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְאֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֖ן לֵאמֹֽר׃And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, 21“Sonder julle af uit die midde van hierdie vergadering, dat Ek hulle in ’n oomblik kan verdelg.”הִבָּ֣דְל֔וּ מִתּ֖וֹךְ הָעֵדָ֣ה הַזֹּ֑את וַאַכַלֶּ֥ה אֹתָ֖ם כְּרָֽגַע׃“Separate yourselves from this congregation so that I may consume them in an instant.” 22Hulle het op hulle aangesigte geval en gesê: “God, God van die geeste van alle mense, sal een man sondig en sal U toornig wees oor die hele vergadering?”

Letterlik: alle vlees.

וַיִּפְּל֤וּ עַל־פְּנֵיהֶם֙ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ אֵ֕ל אֱלֹהֵ֥י הָרוּחֹ֖ת לְכָל־בָּשָׂ֑ר הָאִ֤ישׁ אֶחָד֙ יֶחֱטָ֔א וְעַ֥ל כָּל־הָעֵדָ֖ה תִּקְצֹֽף׃ פBut Moses and Aaron fell facedown and said, “O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, when one man sins, will You be angry with the whole congregation?”

23En die HERE het met Moses gespreek en gesê:וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃Then the LORD said to Moses, 24“Spreek met die vergadering en sê: ‘Gaan weg van rondom die woning van Korag, Datan en Abiram.’”דַּבֵּ֥ר אֶל־הָעֵדָ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר הֵֽעָלוּ֙ מִסָּבִ֔יב לְמִשְׁכַּן־קֹ֖רַח דָּתָ֥ן וַאֲבִירָֽם׃“Tell the congregation to move away from the dwellings of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.” 25En Moses het opgestaan en na Datan en Abiram gegaan, en die ouderlinge van Israel het agter hom aan gegaan.וַיָּ֣קָם מֹשֶׁ֔ה וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ אֶל־דָּתָ֣ן וַאֲבִירָ֑ם וַיֵּלְכ֥וּ אַחֲרָ֖יו זִקְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃So Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him. 26Hy het met die vergadering gespreek en gesê: “Draai tog weg van die tente van hierdie goddelose manne, en moenie aan enigiets raak wat aan hulle behoort nie, sodat julle nie weggeraap word in al hulle sondes nie.”וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר אֶל־הָעֵדָ֜ה לֵאמֹ֗ר ס֣וּרוּ נָ֡א מֵעַל֩ אָהֳלֵ֨י הָאֲנָשִׁ֤ים הָֽרְשָׁעִים֙ הָאֵ֔לֶּה וְאַֽל־תִּגְּע֖וּ בְּכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָהֶ֑ם פֶּן־תִּסָּפ֖וּ בְּכָל־חַטֹּאתָֽם׃And he warned the congregation, “Move away now from the tents of these wicked men. Do not touch anything that belongs to them, or you will be swept away because of all their sins.” 27Toe het hulle van rondom die woning van Korag, Datan en Abiram weggegaan; en Datan en Abiram het uitgekom en by die ingang van hulle tente gaan staan, met hulle vroue en hulle seuns en hulle klein kinders.וַיֵּעָל֗וּ מֵעַ֧ל מִשְׁכַּן־קֹ֛רֶח דָּתָ֥ן וַאֲבִירָ֖ם מִסָּבִ֑יב וְדָתָ֨ן וַאֲבִירָ֜ם יָצְא֣וּ נִצָּבִ֗ים פֶּ֚תַח אָֽהֳלֵיהֶ֔ם וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֥ם וּבְנֵיהֶ֖ם וְטַפָּֽם׃So they moved away from the dwellings of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Meanwhile, Dathan and Abiram had come out and stood at the entrances to their tents with their wives and children and infants.

28En Moses het gesê: “Hieraan sal julle weet dat die HERE my gestuur het om al hierdie dade te doen, want dit is nie uit my hart nie:וַיֹּאמֶר֮ מֹשֶׁה֒ בְּזֹאת֙ תֵּֽדְע֔וּן כִּֽי־יְהוָ֣ה שְׁלָחַ֔נִי לַעֲשׂ֕וֹת אֵ֥ת כָּל־הַֽמַּעֲשִׂ֖ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה כִּי־לֹ֖א מִלִּבִּֽי׃Then Moses said, “This is how you will know that the LORD has sent me to do all these things, for it was not my own doing: 29As hulle sterf soos alle mense sterf, en hulle oorkom wat alle mense oorkom, dan het die HERE my nie gestuur nie.

Letterlik: As hulle sterf soos die dood van alle mense, en die besoeking van alle mense oor hulle besoek word.

אִם־כְּמ֤וֹת כָּל־הָֽאָדָם֙ יְמֻת֣וּן אֵ֔לֶּה וּפְקֻדַּת֙ כָּל־הָ֣אָדָ֔ם יִפָּקֵ֖ד עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם לֹ֥א יְהוָ֖ה שְׁלָחָֽנִי׃If these men die a natural death, or if they suffer the fate of all men, then the LORD has not sent me. 30Maar as die HERE 'n skepping skep, en die grond sy mond oopmaak en hulle insluk met alles wat aan hulle behoort, en hulle lewend afdaal na die doderyk, dan sal julle weet dat hierdie manne die HERE verag het.”וְאִם־בְּרִיאָ֞ה יִבְרָ֣א יְהוָ֗ה וּפָצְתָ֨ה הָאֲדָמָ֤ה אֶת־פִּ֨יהָ֙ וּבָלְעָ֤ה אֹתָם֙ וְאֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָהֶ֔ם וְיָרְד֥וּ חַיִּ֖ים שְׁאֹ֑לָה וִֽידַעְתֶּ֕ם כִּ֧י נִֽאֲצ֛וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֥ים הָאֵ֖לֶּה אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃But if the LORD brings about something unprecedented, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them and all that belongs to them so that they go down alive into Sheol, then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt.” 31Dit het gebeur toe hy klaar was om al hierdie woorde te spreek: die grond wat onder hulle was, het oopgeskeur.וַיְהִי֙ כְּכַלֹּת֔וֹ לְדַבֵּ֕ר אֵ֥ת כָּל־הַדְּבָרִ֖ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה וַתִּבָּקַ֥ע הָאֲדָמָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּחְתֵּיהֶֽם׃As soon as Moses had finished saying all this, the ground beneath them split open, 32Die aarde het sy mond oopgemaak en hulle ingesluk, en hulle huise, en al die mense wat aan Korag behoort het, en al die besittings.וַתִּפְתַּ֤ח הָאָ֨רֶץ֙ אֶת־פִּ֔יהָ וַתִּבְלַ֥ע אֹתָ֖ם וְאֶת־בָּתֵּיהֶ֑ם וְאֵ֤ת כָּל־הָאָדָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְקֹ֔רַח וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־הָרֲכֽוּשׁ׃and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households—all Korah’s men and all their possessions. 33En hulle het afgedaal, hulle en alles wat aan hulle behoort het, lewend na die doderyk; en die aarde het hulle toegedek, en hulle het uit die midde van die gemeente omgekom.וַיֵּ֨רְד֜וּ הֵ֣ם וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר לָהֶ֛ם חַיִּ֖ים שְׁאֹ֑לָה וַתְּכַ֤ס עֲלֵיהֶם֙ הָאָ֔רֶץ וַיֹּאבְד֖וּ מִתּ֥וֹךְ הַקָּהָֽל׃They went down alive into Sheol with all they owned. The earth closed over them, and they vanished from the assembly. 34Die hele Israel wat rondom hulle was, het gevlug by hulle geroep, want hulle het gesê: “Die aarde kan ons dalk insluk!”וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֲשֶׁ֛ר סְבִיבֹתֵיהֶ֖ם נָ֣סוּ לְקֹלָ֑ם כִּ֣י אָֽמְר֔וּ פֶּן־תִּבְלָעֵ֖נוּ הָאָֽרֶץ׃At their cries, all the people of Israel who were around them fled, saying, “The earth may swallow us too!” 35En vuur het van die HERE uitgegaan en die 250 man wat die reukwerk aangebied het, verteer.וְאֵ֥שׁ יָצְאָ֖ה מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה וַתֹּ֗אכַל אֵ֣ת הַחֲמִשִּׁ֤ים וּמָאתַ֨יִם֙ אִ֔ישׁ מַקְרִיבֵ֖י הַקְּטֹֽרֶת׃ פAnd fire came forth from the LORD and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense.
