Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD: “I will sing to the LORD, for He is highly exalted. The horse and rider He has thrown into the sea.2My sterkte en my sang is die HERE, en Hy het my redding geword. Dit is my God, en ek wil Hom prys; die God van my vader, en ek wil Hom hoog verhef.aOf: ek wil vir Hom 'n woning maak. The LORD is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him.3Die HERE is 'n man van oorlog; HERE is Sy naam. The LORD is a warrior, the LORD is His name.4Farao se strydwaens en sy leër het Hy in die see geslinger, en die keur van sy aanvoerders is in die Rietsee versink.aLetterlik: sy derdemanne. Pharaoh’s chariots and army He has cast into the sea; the finest of his officers are drowned in the Red Sea.5Die dieptes het hulle bedek; hulle het in die diep waters afgesak soos 'n klip. The depths have covered them; they sank there like a stone.6U regterhand, HERE, is luisterryk in krag; U regterhand, HERE, het die vyand verbrysel. Your right hand, O LORD, is majestic in power; Your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy.7In die grootheid van U verhewenheid het U dié wat teen U opstaan, neergewerp; U het U brandende toorn uitgestuur, dit het hulle verteer soos stoppels. You overthrew Your adversaries by Your great majesty. You unleashed Your burning wrath; it consumed them like stubble.8En deur die asem van U neusgate het die waters hulle opgehoop; die vloeiende waters het soos 'n wal gestaan; die dieptes het gestol in die hart van die see. At the blast of Your nostrils the waters piled up; like a wall the currents stood firm; the depths congealed in the heart of the sea.9Die vyand het gesê: ‘Ek sal agtervolg, ek sal inhaal, ek sal buit verdeel; my siel sal van hulle vol word; ek sal my swaard trek, my hand sal hulle onteien.’ The enemy declared, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake. I will divide the spoils; I will gorge myself on them. I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.’10U het met U asem geblaas, die see het hulle bedek; hulle het gesink soos lood in die magtige waters.aOf: met U wind. But You blew with Your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters.11Wie is soos U onder die gode, HERE? Wie is soos U, luisterryk in heiligheid, vreeswekkend in lofliedere, wat wonders doen? Who among the gods is like You, O LORD? Who is like You—majestic in holiness, revered with praises, performing wonders?12U het U regterhand uitgestrek; die aarde het hulle verswelg. You stretched out Your right hand, and the earth swallowed them up.13In U troue liefde het U hierdie volk gelei wat U verlos het; in U sterkte het U hulle gelei na U heilige woonplek.aOf: U heilige weiveld. With loving devotion You will lead the people You have redeemed; with Your strength You will guide them to Your holy dwelling.14Volke het gehoor, hulle het gebewe; siddering het die inwoners van Filistea aangegryp. The nations will hear and tremble; anguish will grip the dwellers of Philistia.15Toe is die stamhoofde van Edom verskrik, die leiers van Moab – bewing gryp hulle; al die inwoners van Kanaän het weggesmelt.aLetterlik: ramme van Moab. Then the chiefs of Edom will be dismayed; trembling will seize the leaders of Moab; those who dwell in Canaan will melt away,16Verskrikking en skrik val op hulle; deur die grootheid van U arm word hulle stil soos 'n klip, totdat U volk deurtrek, HERE, totdat die volk deurtrek wat U verwerf het.aOf: wat U geskep het.תִּפֹּ֨ל עֲלֵיהֶ֤ם אֵימָ֨תָה֙ וָפַ֔חַד בִּגְדֹ֥ל זְרוֹעֲךָ֖ יִדְּמ֣וּ כָּאָ֑בֶן עַד־יַעֲבֹ֤ר עַמְּךָ֙ יְהוָ֔ה עַֽד־יַעֲבֹ֖ר עַם־ז֥וּ קָנִֽיתָ׃and terror and dread will fall on them. By the power of Your arm they will be as still as a stone until Your people pass by, O LORD, until the people You have bought pass by.17U sal hulle inbring en hulle plant op die berg van U erfdeel, die vaste plek wat U as U woning gemaak het, HERE, die heiligdom, Here, wat U hande gevestig het. You will bring them in and plant them on the mountain of Your inheritance— the place, O LORD, You have prepared for Your dwelling, the sanctuary, O Lord, Your hands have established.18Die HERE sal as koning regeer vir ewig en altyd.” The LORD will reign forever and ever!”
For when Pharaoh’s horses, chariots, and horsemen went into the sea, the LORD brought the waters of the sea back over them. But the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.
Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her with tambourines and dancing.21En Mirjam het hulle geantwoord: “Sing vir die HERE, want Hy is hoog verhewe; die perd en sy ruiter het Hy in die see gewerp.” And Miriam sang back to them: “Sing to the LORD, for He is highly exalted; the horse and rider He has thrown into the sea.”
Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the Desert of Shur. For three days they walked in the desert without finding water.23Hulle het by Mara gekom, maar hulle kon nie water uit Mara drink nie, want dit was bitter. Daarom is die naam daarvan Mara genoem.aDie naam beteken “bitter”. And when they came to Marah, they could not drink the water there because it was bitter. (That is why it was named Marah.)24Die volk het teen Moses gemor en gesê: “Wat moet ons drink?” And Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a log. And when he cast it into the waters, they were sweetened. There the LORD made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there He tested them,26Hy het gesê: “As jy werklik luister na die stem van die HERE jou God, en doen wat reg is in Sy oë, en jou oor leen aan Sy gebooie en al Sy insettings onderhou, sal Ek geen van die siektes wat Ek op Egipte gelê het, op jou lê nie, want Ek is die HERE wat jou genees.”וַיֹּאמֶר֩ אִם־שָׁמ֨וֹעַ תִּשְׁמַ֜ע לְק֣וֹל׀ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ וְהַיָּשָׁ֤ר בְּעֵינָיו֙ תַּעֲשֶׂ֔ה וְהַֽאֲזַנְתָּ֙ לְמִצְוֺתָ֔יו וְשָׁמַרְתָּ֖ כָּל־חֻקָּ֑יו כָּֽל־הַמַּֽחֲלָ֞ה אֲשֶׁר־שַׂ֤מְתִּי בְמִצְרַ֨יִם֙ לֹא־אָשִׂ֣ים עָלֶ֔יךָ כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה רֹפְאֶֽךָ׃ סsaying, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in His eyes, and pay attention to His commands, and keep all His statutes, then I will not bring on you any of the diseases I inflicted on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”
27Toe het hulle by Elim gekom, en daar was twaalf waterfonteine en 70 palmbome, en hulle het daar by die water kamp opgeslaan. Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they camped there by the waters.
