1Die HERE het in die land Egipte vir Moses en Aäron gesê:וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֔ן בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם לֵאמֹֽר׃Now the LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt,2“Hierdie maand is vir julle die begin van die maande; dit is vir julle die eerste van die maande van die jaar.הַחֹ֧דֶשׁ הַזֶּ֛ה לָכֶ֖ם רֹ֣אשׁ חֳדָשִׁ֑ים רִאשׁ֥וֹן הוּא֙ לָכֶ֔ם לְחָדְשֵׁ֖י הַשָּׁנָֽה׃“This month is the beginning of months for you; it shall be the first month of your year.3Spreek met die hele vergadering van Israel en sê: ‘Op die tiende van hierdie maand moet hulle elkeen 'n lam neem vir hulle, volgens die huisgesin van die vaders, 'n lam vir 'n huis. Tell the whole congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man must select a lamb for his family, one per household.4En as die huisgesin te klein is vir 'n lam, moet hy en sy buurman wat die naaste aan sy huis is, een neem volgens die getal persone; julle moet die lam bereken volgens wat elkeen eet. If the household is too small for a whole lamb, they are to share with the nearest neighbor based on the number of people, and apportion the lamb accordingly.5Die lam moet vir julle sonder gebrek wees, 'n jaaroud mannetjie; julle mag dit van die skape of van die bokke neem.aLetterlik: 'n seun van 'n jaar. Your lamb must be an unblemished year-old male, and you may take it from the sheep or the goats.6En dit moet vir julle in bewaring wees tot die veertiende dag van hierdie maand; dan moet die hele gemeente van die vergadering van Israel dit slag in die skemering.aLetterlik: tussen die twee aande. You must keep it until the fourteenth day of the month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel will slaughter the animals at twilight.7En hulle moet van die bloed neem en dit aan die twee deurposte en aan die bokosyn aanbring van die huise waarin hulle dit eet. They are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.8En hulle moet die vlees in hierdie nag eet, in die vuur gebraai, en ongesuurde brode; saam met bitter kruie moet hulle dit eet. They are to eat the meat that night, roasted over the fire, along with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.9Julle mag niks daarvan rou eet nie, of hoegenaamd in water gekook nie, maar in die vuur gebraai, sy kop saam met sy skenkels en sy binnegoed. Do not eat any of the meat raw or cooked in boiling water, but only roasted over the fire—its head and legs and inner parts.10En julle mag niks daarvan tot die oggend oorlaat nie; en wat daarvan tot die oggend oorbly, moet julle met vuur verbrand. Do not leave any of it until morning; before the morning you must burn up any part that is left over.11En só moet julle dit eet: julle heupe omgord, julle sandale aan julle voete en julle staf in julle hand; en julle moet dit haastig eet. This is how you are to eat it: You must be fully dressed for travel, with your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. You are to eat in haste; it is the LORD’s Passover.12En Ek sal in hierdie nag deur die land Egipte trek en elke eersgeborene in die land Egipte tref, van mens tot dier; en aan al die gode van Egipte sal Ek strafgerigte voltrek. Ek is die HERE. On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn male, both man and beast, and I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.13En die bloed sal vir julle 'n teken wees aan die huise waar julle is; en wanneer ek die bloed sien, sal ek by julle verbygaan, en daar sal onder julle geen plaag tot verwoesting wees wanneer ek in die land Egipte slaan nie. The blood on the houses where you are staying will be a sign; when I see the blood, I will pass over you. Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel and told them, “Go at once and select for yourselves a lamb for each family, and slaughter the Passover lamb.22En julle moet 'n bossie hisop neem en dit in die bloed wat in die bak is, doop, en die bokosyn en die twee deurposte aanraak met van die bloed wat in die bak is; en julle, niemand mag tot die môre by die deur van sy huis uitgaan nie.aOf: op die drumpel. Take a cluster of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin, and brush the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe. Now at midnight the LORD struck down every firstborn male in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on his throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner in the dungeon, as well as all the firstborn among the livestock.30Toe het Farao in die nag opgestaan, hy en al sy dienaars en die hele Egipte; en daar was 'n groot geskreeu in Egipte, want daar was geen huis waar daar nie 'n dooie was nie. During the night Pharaoh got up—he and all his officials and all the Egyptians—and there was loud wailing in Egypt; for there was no house without someone dead.31En hy het Moses en Aäron in die nag geroep en gesê: “Staan op, trek weg onder my volk uit, julle sowel as die Israeliete, en gaan dien die HERE soos julle gesê het. Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron by night and said, “Get up, leave my people, both you and the Israelites! In this way they plundered the Egyptians.
The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Succoth with about 600,000 men on foot, besides women and children.38Ook 'n groot gemengde menigte het saam met hulle opgetrek, en kleinvee en beeste, 'n uiters swaar veebesit. And a mixed multitude also went up with them, along with great droves of livestock, both flocks and herds.39En hulle het die deeg wat hulle uit Egipte uitgebring het, as ongesuurde koeke gebak, want dit was nie gesuur nie, omdat hulle uit Egipte uitgedryf is en nie kon talm nie; en hulle het ook geen padkos vir hulle berei nie. Since their dough had no leaven, the people baked what they had brought out of Egypt into unleavened loaves. For when they had been driven out of Egypt, they could not delay and had not prepared any provisions for themselves.40En die tyd wat die Israeliete in Egipte gewoon het, was 430 jaar.aSommige ou vertalings lees: in die land Egipte en in die land Kanaän. Now the duration of the Israelites’ stay in Egypt was 430 years.41En dit het gebeur aan die einde van 430 jaar, ja, dit het gebeur op hierdie selfde dag dat al die leërskare van die HERE uit die land Egipte uitgetrek het. At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the LORD’s divisions went out of the land of Egypt.42Dit is 'n nag van waak vir die HERE om hulle uit die land Egipte te lei; hierdie nag is vir die HERE 'n waak vir al die Israeliete, deur hulle geslagte.aOf: 'n nag wat vir die HERE bewaar moet word. Because the LORD kept a vigil that night to bring them out of the land of Egypt, this same night is to be a vigil to the LORD, to be observed by all the Israelites for the generations to come.
And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “This is the statute of the Passover: No foreigner is to eat of it.44En elke slaaf van iemand, wat vir geld gekoop is: wanneer jy hom besny het, dan mag hy daarvan eet. But any slave who has been purchased may eat of it, after you have circumcised him.45'n Tydelike inwoner en 'n huurling mag nie daarvan eet nie. A temporary resident or hired hand shall not eat the Passover.46In een huis moet dit geëet word; jy mag niks van die vlees uit die huis na buite neem nie, en julle mag geen been daarvan breek nie. It must be eaten inside one house. You are not to take any of the meat outside the house, and you may not break any of the bones.47Die hele gemeente van Israel moet dit hou. The whole congregation of Israel must celebrate it.48En wanneer 'n vreemdeling by jou woon en die pasga vir die HERE hou, moet elke manlike persoon van hom besny word, en dan mag hy nader kom om dit te hou, en hy sal wees soos 'n inboorling van die land; maar geen onbesnedene mag daarvan eet nie. If a foreigner resides with you and wants to celebrate the LORD’s Passover, all the males in the household must be circumcised; then he may come near to celebrate it, and he shall be like a native of the land. But no uncircumcised man may eat of it.49Een wet moet daar wees vir die inboorling en vir die vreemdeling wat as vreemdeling onder julle woon.” The same law shall apply to both the native and the foreigner who resides among you.”50En al die Israeliete het gedoen; soos die HERE Moses en Aäron beveel het, so het hulle gedoen. Then all the Israelites did this—they did just as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron.
And on that very day the LORD brought the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their divisions.
