1En dit sal wees: as jy werklik luister na die stem van die HERE jou God, om al Sy gebooie wat ek jou vandag beveel, te onderhou en te doen, dan sal die HERE jou God jou die hoogste maak bo al die nasies van die aarde.

Letterlik: as jy hoorend hoor na die stem van die HERE jou God.

וְהָיָ֗ה אִם־שָׁמ֤וֹעַ תִּשְׁמַע֙ בְּקוֹל֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ לִשְׁמֹ֤ר לַעֲשׂוֹת֙ אֶת־כָּל־מִצְוֺתָ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֛ר אָנֹכִ֥י מְצַוְּךָ֖ הַיּ֑וֹם וּנְתָ֨נְךָ֜ יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ֙ עֶלְי֔וֹן עַ֖ל כָּל־גּוֹיֵ֥י הָאָֽרֶץ׃“Now if you faithfully obey the voice of the LORD your God and are careful to follow all His commandments I am giving you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. 2En al hierdie seëninge sal oor jou kom en jou inhaal, as jy luister na die stem van die HERE jou God.וּבָ֧אוּ עָלֶ֛יךָ כָּל־הַבְּרָכ֥וֹת הָאֵ֖לֶּה וְהִשִּׂיגֻ֑ךָ כִּ֣י תִשְׁמַ֔ע בְּק֖וֹל יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃And all these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, if you will obey the voice of the LORD your God: 3Geseënd is jy in die stad, en geseënd is jy in die veld.בָּר֥וּךְ אַתָּ֖ה בָּעִ֑יר וּבָר֥וּךְ אַתָּ֖ה בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. 4Geseënd is die vrug van jou liggaam en die vrug van jou grond en die vrug van jou vee, die aanteel van jou beeste en die aanwas van jou kleinvee.

Letterlik: die vrug van jou skoot.

בָּר֧וּךְ פְּרִֽי־בִטְנְךָ֛ וּפְרִ֥י אַדְמָתְךָ֖ וּפְרִ֣י בְהֶמְתֶּ֑ךָ שְׁגַ֥ר אֲלָפֶ֖יךָ וְעַשְׁתְּר֥וֹת צֹאנֶֽךָ׃The fruit of your womb will be blessed, as well as the produce of your land and the offspring of your livestock— the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. 5Geseënd is jou mandjie en jou kniebak.בָּר֥וּךְ טַנְאֲךָ֖ וּמִשְׁאַרְתֶּֽךָ׃Your basket and kneading bowl will be blessed. 6Geseënd is jy by jou ingaan, en geseënd is jy by jou uitgaan.בָּר֥וּךְ אַתָּ֖ה בְּבֹאֶ֑ךָ וּבָר֥וּךְ אַתָּ֖ה בְּצֵאתֶֽךָ׃You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. 7Die HERE sal jou vyande wat teen jou opstaan, voor jou aangesig verslaan laat word. Op een pad sal hulle teen jou uittrek, en op sewe paaie sal hulle voor jou aangesig vlug.יִתֵּ֨ן יְהוָ֤ה אֶת־אֹיְבֶ֨יךָ֙ הַקָּמִ֣ים עָלֶ֔יךָ נִגָּפִ֖ים לְפָנֶ֑יךָ בְּדֶ֤רֶךְ אֶחָד֙ יֵצְא֣וּ אֵלֶ֔יךָ וּבְשִׁבְעָ֥ה דְרָכִ֖ים יָנ֥וּסוּ לְפָנֶֽיךָ׃The LORD will cause the enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you. They will march out against you in one direction but flee from you in seven. 8Die HERE sal die seën vir jou gebied in jou skure en in alles wat jou hand aanpak, en Hy sal jou seën in die land wat die HERE jou God jou gee.

יְצַ֨ו יְהוָ֤ה אִתְּךָ֙ אֶת־הַבְּרָכָ֔ה בַּאֲסָמֶ֕יךָ וּבְכֹ֖ל מִשְׁלַ֣ח יָדֶ֑ךָ וּבֵ֣רַכְךָ֔ בָּאָ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ נֹתֵ֥ן לָֽךְ׃The LORD will decree a blessing on your barns and on everything to which you put your hand; the LORD your God will bless you in the land He is giving you. 9Die HERE sal jou vir Hom as 'n heilige volk oprig, soos Hy jou gesweer het, as jy die gebooie van die HERE jou God onderhou en in Sy weë wandel.יְקִֽימְךָ֨ יְהוָ֥ה לוֹ֙ לְעַ֣ם קָד֔וֹשׁ כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר נִֽשְׁבַּֽע־לָ֑ךְ כִּ֣י תִשְׁמֹ֗ר אֶת־מִצְוֺת֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ וְהָלַכְתָּ֖ בִּדְרָכָֽיו׃The LORD will establish you as His holy people, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. 10En al die volke van die aarde sal sien dat die naam van die HERE oor jou uitgeroep is, en hulle sal vir jou vrees.וְרָאוּ֙ כָּל־עַמֵּ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּ֛י שֵׁ֥ם יְהוָ֖ה נִקְרָ֣א עָלֶ֑יךָ וְיָֽרְא֖וּ מִמֶּֽךָּ׃Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they will stand in awe of you. 11En die HERE sal jou oorvloed gee ten goede, in die vrug van jou liggaam en in die vrug van jou vee en in die vrug van jou grond, op die grond wat die HERE aan jou vaders gesweer het om aan jou te gee.וְהוֹתִֽרְךָ֤ יְהוָה֙ לְטוֹבָ֔ה בִּפְרִ֧י בִטְנְךָ֛ וּבִפְרִ֥י בְהַמְתְּךָ֖ וּבִפְרִ֣י אַדְמָתֶ֑ךָ עַ֚ל הָאֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִשְׁבַּ֧ע יְהוָ֛ה לַאֲבֹתֶ֖יךָ לָ֥תֶת לָֽךְ׃The LORD will make you prosper abundantly—in the fruit of your womb, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your land—in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. 12Die HERE sal vir jou Sy goeie skatkamer, die hemel, oopmaak om die reën van jou land op sy tyd te gee en om al die werk van jou hand te seën. En jy sal aan baie nasies leen, maar jy self sal nie leen nie.יִפְתַּ֣ח יְהוָ֣ה׀ לְ֠ךָ אֶת־אוֹצָר֨וֹ הַטּ֜וֹב אֶת־הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם לָתֵ֤ת מְטַֽר־אַרְצְךָ֙ בְּעִתּ֔וֹ וּלְבָרֵ֕ךְ אֵ֖ת כָּל־מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יָדֶ֑ךָ וְהִלְוִ֨יתָ֙ גּוֹיִ֣ם רַבִּ֔ים וְאַתָּ֖ה לֹ֥א תִלְוֶֽה׃The LORD will open the heavens, His abundant storehouse, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations, but borrow from none. 13En die HERE sal jou tot kop maak en nie tot stert nie, en jy sal net bo wees en nie onder wees nie, as jy luister na die gebooie van die HERE jou God wat ek jou vandag beveel om te onderhou en te doen.וּנְתָֽנְךָ֨ יְהוָ֤ה לְרֹאשׁ֙ וְלֹ֣א לְזָנָ֔ב וְהָיִ֨יתָ֙ רַ֣ק לְמַ֔עְלָה וְלֹ֥א תִהְיֶ֖ה לְמָ֑טָּה כִּֽי־תִשְׁמַ֞ע אֶל־מִצְוֺ֣ת׀ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָנֹכִ֧י מְצַוְּךָ֛ הַיּ֖וֹם לִשְׁמֹ֥ר וְלַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃The LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you will only move upward and never downward, if you hear and carefully follow the commandments of the LORD your God, which I am giving you today. 14En jy mag nie afwyk van enige van die woorde wat ek julle vandag beveel nie, na regs of na links, om agter ander gode aan te loop om hulle te dien.וְלֹ֣א תָס֗וּר מִכָּל־הַדְּבָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָנֹכִ֜י מְצַוֶּ֥ה אֶתְכֶ֛ם הַיּ֖וֹם יָמִ֣ין וּשְׂמֹ֑אול לָלֶ֗כֶת אַחֲרֵ֛י אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִ֖ים לְעָבְדָֽם׃ סDo not turn aside to the right or to the left from any of the words I command you today, and do not go after other gods to serve them.

15En dit sal wees: as jy nie luister na die stem van die HERE jou God om al Sy gebooie en Sy insettinge wat ek jou vandag beveel, te onderhou en te doen nie, dan sal al hierdie vloeke oor jou kom en jou inhaal.וְהָיָ֗ה אִם־לֹ֤א תִשְׁמַע֙ בְּקוֹל֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ לִשְׁמֹ֤ר לַעֲשׂוֹת֙ אֶת־כָּל־מִצְוֺתָ֣יו וְחֻקֹּתָ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֛ר אָנֹכִ֥י מְצַוְּךָ֖ הַיּ֑וֹם וּבָ֧אוּ עָלֶ֛יךָ כָּל־הַקְּלָל֥וֹת הָאֵ֖לֶּה וְהִשִּׂיגֽוּךָ׃If, however, you do not obey the LORD your God by carefully following all His commandments and statutes I am giving you today, all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: 16Vervloek is jy in die stad, en vervloek is jy in die veld.אָר֥וּר אַתָּ֖ה בָּעִ֑יר וְאָר֥וּר אַתָּ֖ה בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country. 17Vervloek is jou mandjie en jou kniebak.אָר֥וּר טַנְאֲךָ֖ וּמִשְׁאַרְתֶּֽךָ׃Your basket and kneading bowl will be cursed. 18Vervloek is die vrug van jou liggaam en die vrug van jou grond, die aanteel van jou beeste en die aanwas van jou kleinvee.אָר֥וּר פְּרִֽי־בִטְנְךָ֖ וּפְרִ֣י אַדְמָתֶ֑ךָ שְׁגַ֥ר אֲלָפֶ֖יךָ וְעַשְׁתְּר֥וֹת צֹאנֶֽךָ׃The fruit of your womb will be cursed, as well as the produce of your land, the calves of your herds, and the lambs of your flocks. 19Vervloek is jy by jou ingaan, en vervloek is jy by jou uitgaan.אָר֥וּר אַתָּ֖ה בְּבֹאֶ֑ךָ וְאָר֥וּר אַתָּ֖ה בְּצֵאתֶֽךָ׃You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out. 20Die HERE sal die vloek, die verwarring en die bestraffing op jou stuur in alles waaraan jy jou hand slaan en wat jy doen, totdat jy verdelg is en totdat jy gou omkom, weens die boosheid van jou dade waarmee jy My verlaat het.יְשַׁלַּ֣ח יְהוָ֣ה׀ בְּ֠ךָ אֶת־הַמְּאֵרָ֤ה אֶת־הַמְּהוּמָה֙ וְאֶת־הַמִּגְעֶ֔רֶת בְּכָל־מִשְׁלַ֥ח יָדְךָ֖ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תַּעֲשֶׂ֑ה עַ֣ד הִשָּֽׁמֶדְךָ֤ וְעַד־אֲבָדְךָ֙ מַהֵ֔ר מִפְּנֵ֛י רֹ֥עַ מַֽעֲלָלֶ֖יךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר עֲזַבְתָּֽנִי׃The LORD will send curses upon you, confusion and reproof in all to which you put your hand, until you are destroyed and quickly perish because of the wickedness you have committed in forsaking Him. 21Die HERE sal die pes aan jou laat kleef totdat Hy jou verteer het van die grond af waarheen jy gaan om dit in besit te neem.יַדְבֵּ֧ק יְהוָ֛ה בְּךָ֖ אֶת־הַדָּ֑בֶר עַ֚ד כַּלֹּת֣וֹ אֹֽתְךָ֔ מֵעַל֙ הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־אַתָּ֥ה בָא־שָׁ֖מָּה לְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃The LORD will make the plague cling to you until He has exterminated you from the land that you are entering to possess. 22Die HERE sal jou slaan met tering en met koors en met ontsteking en met gloeiende hitte en met swaard en met skroeiing en met vergeling, en hulle sal jou agtervolg totdat jy omkom.יַכְּכָ֣ה יְ֠הוָה בַּשַּׁחֶ֨פֶת וּבַקַּדַּ֜חַת וּבַדַּלֶּ֗קֶת וּבַֽחַרְחֻר֙ וּבַחֶ֔רֶב וּבַשִּׁדָּפ֖וֹן וּבַיֵּרָק֑וֹן וּרְדָפ֖וּךָ עַ֥ד אָבְדֶֽךָ׃The LORD will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, and with blight and mildew; these will pursue you until you perish. 23En jou hemel wat bo jou kop is, sal koper wees, en die aarde wat onder jou is, yster.וְהָי֥וּ שָׁמֶ֛יךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל־רֹאשְׁךָ֖ נְחֹ֑שֶׁת וְהָאָ֥רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־תַּחְתֶּ֖יךָ בַּרְזֶֽל׃The sky over your head will be bronze, and the earth beneath you iron. 24Die HERE sal die reën van jou land poeier en stof maak; uit die hemel sal dit op jou neerdaal totdat jy verdelg is.יִתֵּ֧ן יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־מְטַ֥ר אַרְצְךָ֖ אָבָ֣ק וְעָפָ֑ר מִן־הַשָּׁמַ֨יִם֙ יֵרֵ֣ד עָלֶ֔יךָ עַ֖ד הִשָּׁמְדָֽךְ׃The LORD will turn the rain of your land into dust and powder; it will descend on you from the sky until you are destroyed. 25Die HERE sal maak dat jy voor jou vyande verslaan word; op een pad sal jy teen hom uittrek, en op sewe paaie sal jy voor hom vlug, en jy sal 'n verskrikking wees vir al die koninkryke van die aarde.יִתֶּנְךָ֨ יְהוָ֥ה׀ נִגָּף֮ לִפְנֵ֣י אֹיְבֶיךָ֒ בְּדֶ֤רֶךְ אֶחָד֙ תֵּצֵ֣א אֵלָ֔יו וּבְשִׁבְעָ֥ה דְרָכִ֖ים תָּנ֣וּס לְפָנָ֑יו וְהָיִ֣יתָ לְזַעֲוָ֔ה לְכֹ֖ל מַמְלְכ֥וֹת הָאָֽרֶץ׃The LORD will cause you to be defeated before your enemies. You will march out against them in one direction but flee from them in seven. You will be an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth. 26En jou lyk sal voedsel wees vir al die voëls van die hemel en vir die diere van die aarde, en daar sal niemand wees wat hulle verjaag nie.וְהָיְתָ֤ה נִבְלָֽתְךָ֙ לְמַאֲכָ֔ל לְכָל־ע֥וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וּלְבֶהֱמַ֣ת הָאָ֑רֶץ וְאֵ֖ין מַחֲרִֽיד׃Your corpses will be food for all the birds of the air and beasts of the earth, with no one to scare them away. 27Die HERE sal jou slaan met die swere van Egipte en met skurfte en met jeukte, waarvan jy nie genees kan word nie.יַכְּכָ֨ה יְהוָ֜ה בִּשְׁחִ֤ין מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ וּבַגָּרָ֖ב וּבֶחָ֑רֶס אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־תוּכַ֖ל לְהֵרָפֵֽא׃The LORD will afflict you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors and scabs and itch from which you cannot be cured. 28Die HERE sal jou slaan met waansin en met blindheid en met verbystering van hart.יַכְּכָ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה בְּשִׁגָּע֖וֹן וּבְעִוָּר֑וֹן וּבְתִמְה֖וֹן לֵבָֽב׃The LORD will afflict you with madness, blindness, and confusion of mind, 29En jy sal op die middag rondtas soos 'n blinde in die donker rondtas, en jy sal jou weë nie laat slaag nie. En jy sal net onderdruk en beroof word al die dae, en daar is niemand wat red nie.וְהָיִ֜יתָ מְמַשֵּׁ֣שׁ בַּֽצָּהֳרַ֗יִם כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר יְמַשֵּׁ֤שׁ הָעִוֵּר֙ בָּאֲפֵלָ֔ה וְלֹ֥א תַצְלִ֖יחַ אֶת־דְּרָכֶ֑יךָ וְהָיִ֜יתָ אַ֣ךְ עָשׁ֧וּק וְגָז֛וּל כָּל־הַיָּמִ֖ים וְאֵ֥ין מוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃and at noon you will grope about like a blind man in the darkness. You will not prosper in your ways. Day after day you will be oppressed and plundered, with no one to save you. 30'n Vrou sal jy verloof, en 'n ander man sal by haar slaap; 'n huis sal jy bou, maar jy sal nie daarin woon nie; 'n wingerd sal jy plant, maar jy sal dit nie in gebruik neem nie.

Letterlik: sal dit nie ontheilig nie.

אִשָּׁ֣ה תְאָרֵ֗שׂ וְאִ֤ישׁ אַחֵר֙ בַּ֥יִת תִּבְנֶ֖ה וְלֹא־תֵשֵׁ֣ב בּ֑וֹ כֶּ֥רֶם תִּטַּ֖ע וְלֹ֥א תְחַלְּלֶּֽנּוּ׃You will be pledged in marriage to a woman, but another man will violate her. You will build a house but will not live in it. You will plant a vineyard but will not enjoy its fruit. 31Jou bees sal voor jou oë geslag word, maar jy sal nie daarvan eet nie; jou donkie sal voor jou weggeroof word en nie na jou terugkeer nie; jou kleinvee sal aan jou vyande gegee word, en daar sal vir jou geen redder wees nie.שׁוֹרְךָ֞ טָב֣וּחַ לְעֵינֶ֗יךָ וְלֹ֣א תֹאכַל֮ מִמֶּנּוּ֒ חֲמֹֽרְךָ֙ גָּז֣וּל מִלְּפָנֶ֔יךָ וְלֹ֥א יָשׁ֖וּב לָ֑ךְ צֹֽאנְךָ֙ נְתֻנ֣וֹת לְאֹיְבֶ֔יךָ וְאֵ֥ין לְךָ֖ מוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will not eat any of it. Your donkey will be taken away and not returned to you. Your flock will be given to your enemies, and no one will save you. 32Jou seuns en jou dogters sal aan 'n ander volk gegee wees, terwyl jou oë dit sien en die hele dag na hulle smag, en jou hand het geen mag nie.

Letterlik: en daar is nie God vir jou hand nie.

בָּנֶ֨יךָ וּבְנֹתֶ֜יךָ נְתֻנִ֨ים לְעַ֤ם אַחֵר֙ וְעֵינֶ֣יךָ רֹא֔וֹת וְכָל֥וֹת אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם כָּל־הַיּ֑וֹם וְאֵ֥ין לְאֵ֖ל יָדֶֽךָ׃Your sons and daughters will be given to another nation, while your eyes grow weary looking for them day after day, with no power in your hand. 33Die vrug van jou grond en al jou arbeid sal 'n volk eet wat jy nie ken nie, en jy sal net verdruk en verbrysel wees al die dae.פְּרִ֤י אַדְמָֽתְךָ֙ וְכָל־יְגִ֣יעֲךָ֔ יֹאכַ֥ל עַ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־יָדָ֑עְתָּ וְהָיִ֗יתָ רַ֛ק עָשׁ֥וּק וְרָצ֖וּץ כָּל־הַיָּמִֽים׃A people you do not know will eat the produce of your land and of all your toil. He will be the head, and you will be the tail. 45En al hierdie vloeke sal oor jou kom en jou agtervolg en jou inhaal totdat jy verdelg is, omdat jy nie geluister het na die stem van die HERE jou God om Sy gebooie en Sy insettinge wat Hy jou beveel het, te onderhou nie.וּבָ֨אוּ עָלֶ֜יךָ כָּל־הַקְּלָל֣וֹת הָאֵ֗לֶּה וּרְדָפ֨וּךָ֙ וְהִשִּׂיג֔וּךָ עַ֖ד הִשָּֽׁמְדָ֑ךְ כִּי־לֹ֣א שָׁמַ֗עְתָּ בְּקוֹל֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ לִשְׁמֹ֛ר מִצְוֺתָ֥יו וְחֻקֹּתָ֖יו אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּֽךְ׃All these curses will come upon you. They will leave you no grain or new wine or oil, no calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks, until they have caused you to perish. 52En dit sal jou benoud maak in al jou poorte totdat jou hoë en versterkte mure waarop jy vertrou, in jou hele land val; en dit sal jou benoud maak in al jou poorte, in jou hele land wat die HERE jou God jou gegee het.וְהֵצַ֨ר לְךָ֜ בְּכָל־שְׁעָרֶ֗יךָ עַ֣ד רֶ֤דֶת חֹמֹתֶ֨יךָ֙ הַגְּבֹה֣וֹת וְהַבְּצֻר֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתָּ֛ה בֹּטֵ֥חַ בָּהֵ֖ן בְּכָל־אַרְצֶ֑ךָ וְהֵצַ֤ר לְךָ֙ בְּכָל־שְׁעָרֶ֔יךָ בְּכָ֨ל־אַרְצְךָ֔ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֛ן יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ לָֽךְ׃They will besiege all the cities throughout your land, until the high and fortified walls in which you trust have fallen. 58As jy nie al die woorde van hierdie wet wat in hierdie boek geskryf is, onderhou en doen nie, om hierdie heerlike en gevreesde naam, die HERE jou God, te vrees,אִם־לֹ֨א תִשְׁמֹ֜ר לַעֲשׂ֗וֹת אֶת־כָּל־דִּבְרֵי֙ הַתּוֹרָ֣ה הַזֹּ֔את הַכְּתוּבִ֖ים בַּסֵּ֣פֶר הַזֶּ֑ה לְ֠יִרְאָה אֶת־הַשֵּׁ֞ם הַנִּכְבָּ֤ד וְהַנּוֹרָא֙ הַזֶּ֔ה אֵ֖ת יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃If you are not careful to observe all the words of this law which are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name—the LORD your God— 59dan sal die HERE jou plae en die plae van jou nageslag buitengewoon maak: groot en aanhoudende plae, en bose en aanhoudende siektes.וְהִפְלָ֤א יְהוָה֙ אֶת־מַכֹּ֣תְךָ֔ וְאֵ֖ת מַכּ֣וֹת זַרְעֶ֑ךָ מַכּ֤וֹת גְּדֹלוֹת֙ וְנֶ֣אֱמָנ֔וֹת וָחֳלָיִ֥ם רָעִ֖ים וְנֶאֱמָנִֽים׃He will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary disasters, severe and lasting plagues, and terrible and chronic sicknesses. 60En Hy sal al die siektes van Egipte waarvoor jy bang was, op jou laat terugkom, en hulle sal aan jou kleef.וְהֵשִׁ֣יב בְּךָ֗ אֵ֚ת כָּל־מַדְוֵ֣ה מִצְרַ֔יִם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָגֹ֖רְתָּ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם וְדָבְק֖וּ בָּֽךְ׃He will afflict you again with all the diseases you dreaded in Egypt, and they will cling to you. 61Ook elke siekte en elke plaag wat nie in die boek van hierdie wet geskryf is nie, sal die HERE oor jou bring totdat jy verdelg is.גַּ֤ם כָּל־חֳלִי֙ וְכָל־מַכָּ֔ה אֲשֶׁר֙ לֹ֣א כָת֔וּב בְּסֵ֖פֶר הַתּוֹרָ֣ה הַזֹּ֑את יַעְלֵ֤ם יְהוָה֙ עָלֶ֔יךָ עַ֖ד הִשָּׁמְדָֽךְ׃The LORD will also bring upon you every sickness and plague not recorded in this Book of the Law, until you are destroyed. 62En julle sal as 'n klein getal mense oorbly, in plaas daarvan dat julle soos die sterre van die hemel in menigte was, omdat jy nie geluister het na die stem van die HERE jou God nie.וְנִשְׁאַרְתֶּם֙ בִּמְתֵ֣י מְעָ֔ט תַּ֚חַת אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֱיִיתֶ֔ם כְּכוֹכְבֵ֥י הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם לָרֹ֑ב כִּי־לֹ֣א שָׁמַ֔עְתָּ בְּק֖וֹל יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃You who were as numerous as the stars in the sky will be left few in number, because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God. 63En dit sal wees: soos die HERE oor julle bly was om aan julle goed te doen en julle te vermeerder, so sal die HERE oor julle bly wees om julle te laat omkom en julle te verdelg; en julle sal uitgeruk word uit die grond waarheen jy gaan om dit in besit te neem.וְ֠הָיָה כַּאֲשֶׁר־שָׂ֨שׂ יְהוָ֜ה עֲלֵיכֶ֗ם לְהֵיטִ֣יב אֶתְכֶם֮ וּלְהַרְבּ֣וֹת אֶתְכֶם֒ כֵּ֣ן יָשִׂ֤ישׂ יְהוָה֙ עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם לְהַאֲבִ֥יד אֶתְכֶ֖ם וּלְהַשְׁמִ֣יד אֶתְכֶ֑ם וְנִסַּחְתֶּם֙ מֵעַ֣ל הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־אַתָּ֥ה בָא־שָׁ֖מָּה לְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃Just as it pleased the LORD to make you prosper and multiply, so also it will please Him to annihilate you and destroy you. And you will be uprooted from the land you are entering to possess. 64En die HERE sal jou verstrooi onder al die volke, van die einde van die aarde af tot aan die einde van die aarde, en daar sal jy ander gode dien wat jy en jou vaders nie geken het nie, hout en klip.וֶהֱפִֽיצְךָ֤ יְהוָה֙ בְּכָל־הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים מִקְצֵ֥ה הָאָ֖רֶץ וְעַד־קְצֵ֣ה הָאָ֑רֶץ וְעָבַ֨דְתָּ שָּׁ֜ם אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹא־יָדַ֛עְתָּ אַתָּ֥ה וַאֲבֹתֶ֖יךָ עֵ֥ץ וָאָֽבֶן׃Then the LORD will scatter you among all the nations, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you will worship other gods, gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known. 65En onder daardie nasies sal jy geen rus kry nie, en daar sal geen rusplek wees vir jou voetsool nie; en die HERE sal jou daar 'n bewende hart gee en verflouing van die oë en kwyning van die siel.וּבַגּוֹיִ֤ם הָהֵם֙ לֹ֣א תַרְגִּ֔יעַ וְלֹא־יִהְיֶ֥ה מָנ֖וֹחַ לְכַף־רַגְלֶ֑ךָ וְנָתַן֩ יְהוָ֨ה לְךָ֥ שָׁם֙ לֵ֣ב רַגָּ֔ז וְכִלְי֥וֹן עֵינַ֖יִם וְדַֽאֲב֥וֹן נָֽפֶשׁ׃Among those nations you will find no repose, not even a resting place for the sole of your foot. There the LORD will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and a despairing soul. 66En jou lewe sal voor jou hang, en jy sal nag en dag bang wees, en jy sal nie op jou lewe kan vertrou nie.וְהָי֣וּ חַיֶּ֔יךָ תְּלֻאִ֥ים לְךָ֖ מִנֶּ֑גֶד וּפָֽחַדְתָּ֙ לַ֣יְלָה וְיוֹמָ֔ם וְלֹ֥א תַאֲמִ֖ין בְּחַיֶּֽיךָ׃So your life will hang in doubt before you, and you will be afraid night and day, never certain of survival. 67In die oggend sal jy sê: “Kon dit tog aand wees!” en in die aand sal jy sê: “Kon dit tog oggend wees!”, weens die skrik van jou hart wat jy sal vrees, en weens die gesig van jou oë wat jy sal sien.

69Dit is die woorde van die verbond wat die HERE Moses beveel het om met die Israeliete te sluit in die land Moab, benewens die verbond wat Hy met hulle by Horeb gesluit het.
