1Die priesters, die Leviete, die hele stam van Levi, sal geen deel en erfdeel saam met Israel hê nie; die vuuroffers van die HERE en Sy erfdeel sal hulle eet.לֹֽא־יִ֠הְיֶה לַכֹּהֲנִ֨ים הַלְוִיִּ֜ם כָּל־שֵׁ֧בֶט לֵוִ֛י חֵ֥לֶק וְנַחֲלָ֖ה עִם־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אִשֵּׁ֧י יְהוָ֛ה וְנַחֲלָת֖וֹ יֹאכֵלֽוּן׃The Levitical priests—indeed the whole tribe of Levi—shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel. They are to eat the food offerings to the LORD; that is their inheritance. 2Maar 'n erfdeel sal hy nie hê te midde van sy broers nie; die HERE is sy erfdeel, soos Hy aan hom gesê het.וְנַחֲלָ֥ה לֹא־יִֽהְיֶה־לּ֖וֹ בְּקֶ֣רֶב אֶחָ֑יו יְהוָה֙ ה֣וּא נַחֲלָת֔וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּר־לֽוֹ׃ סAlthough they have no inheritance among their brothers, the LORD is their inheritance, as He promised them. 3En dit sal die reg van die priesters wees, van die volk, van hulle wat 'n slagoffer slag, hetsy 'n os hetsy 'n lam: hy sal aan die priester die skouer en die twee kake en die pens gee.וְזֶ֡ה יִהְיֶה֩ מִשְׁפַּ֨ט הַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים מֵאֵ֣ת הָעָ֗ם מֵאֵ֛ת זֹבְחֵ֥י הַזֶּ֖בַח אִם־שׁ֣וֹר אִם־שֶׂ֑ה וְנָתַן֙ לַכֹּהֵ֔ן הַזְּרֹ֥עַ וְהַלְּחָיַ֖יִם וְהַקֵּבָֽה׃This shall be the priests’ share from the people who offer a sacrifice, whether a bull or a sheep: the priests are to be given the shoulder, the jowls, and the stomach. 4Die eerstelinge van jou graan, jou mos en jou olie, en die eerstelinge van die skeersel van jou kleinvee moet jy aan hom gee.רֵאשִׁ֨ית דְּגָֽנְךָ֜ תִּֽירֹשְׁךָ֣ וְיִצְהָרֶ֗ךָ וְרֵאשִׁ֛ית גֵּ֥ז צֹאנְךָ֖ תִּתֶּן־לּֽוֹ׃You are to give them the firstfruits of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the first wool sheared from your flock. 5Want hom het die HERE jou God uit al jou stamme gekies om te staan en te dien in die naam van die HERE, hy en sy seuns, al die dae.כִּ֣י ב֗וֹ בָּחַ֛ר יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ מִכָּל־שְׁבָטֶ֑יךָ לַעֲמֹ֨ד לְשָׁרֵ֧ת בְּשֵׁם־יְהוָ֛ה ה֥וּא וּבָנָ֖יו כָּל־הַיָּמִֽים׃ סFor the LORD your God has chosen Levi and his sons out of all your tribes to stand and minister in His name for all time.

6En as die Leviet kom uit een van jou poorte, uit die hele Israel, waar hy as vreemdeling vertoef, en hy kom met al die begeerte van sy siel na die plek wat die HERE sal kies,וְכִֽי־יָבֹ֨א הַלֵּוִ֜י מֵאַחַ֤ד שְׁעָרֶ֨יךָ֙ מִכָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר־ה֖וּא גָּ֣ר שָׁ֑ם וּבָא֙ בְּכָל־אַוַּ֣ת נַפְשׁ֔וֹ אֶל־הַמָּק֖וֹם אֲשֶׁר־יִבְחַ֥ר יְהוָֽה׃Now if a Levite moves from any town of residence throughout Israel and comes in all earnestness to the place the LORD will choose, 7dan sal hy dien in die naam van die HERE sy God, soos al sy broers, die Leviete, wat daar voor die aangesig van die HERE staan.וְשֵׁרֵ֕ת בְּשֵׁ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֑יו כְּכָל־אֶחָיו֙ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם הָעֹמְדִ֥ים שָׁ֖ם לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃then he shall serve in the name of the LORD his God like all his fellow Levites who stand there before the LORD. 8Deel soos deel sal hulle eet, afgesien van sy verkope op rekening van die vaders.

חֵ֥לֶק כְּחֵ֖לֶק יֹאכֵ֑לוּ לְבַ֥ד מִמְכָּרָ֖יו עַל־הָאָבֽוֹת׃ סThey shall eat equal portions, even though he has received money from the sale of his father’s estate.

9Wanneer jy in die land kom wat die HERE jou God aan jou gee, moet jy nie leer om volgens die gruwels van daardie nasies te doen nie.כִּ֤י אַתָּה֙ בָּ֣א אֶל־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ נֹתֵ֣ן לָ֑ךְ לֹֽא־תִלְמַ֣ד לַעֲשׂ֔וֹת כְּתוֹעֲבֹ֖ת הַגּוֹיִ֥ם הָהֵֽם׃When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10By jou mag niemand gevind word wat sy seun en sy dogter deur die vuur laat gaan nie, niemand wat waarsêery bedryf nie, 'n wolkeleser, 'n tekenleser of 'n towenaar,לֹֽא־יִמָּצֵ֣א בְךָ֔ מַעֲבִ֥יר בְּנֽוֹ־וּבִתּ֖וֹ בָּאֵ֑שׁ קֹסֵ֣ם קְסָמִ֔ים מְעוֹנֵ֥ן וּמְנַחֵ֖שׁ וּמְכַשֵּֽׁף׃Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, practices divination or conjury, interprets omens, practices sorcery, 11of iemand wat spreuke bind, of iemand wat 'n dodegees raadpleeg, of 'n waarsêgees, of wat by die dooies navraag doen.וְחֹבֵ֖ר חָ֑בֶר וְשֹׁאֵ֥ל אוֹב֙ וְיִדְּעֹנִ֔י וְדֹרֵ֖שׁ אֶל־הַמֵּתִֽים׃casts spells, consults a medium or spiritist, or inquires of the dead. 12Want elkeen wat hierdie dinge doen, is 'n gruwel vir die HERE, en vanweë hierdie gruwels verdryf die HERE jou God hulle voor jou uit.כִּֽי־תוֹעֲבַ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה כָּל־עֹ֣שֵׂה אֵ֑לֶּה וּבִגְלַל֙ הַתּוֹעֵבֹ֣ת הָאֵ֔לֶּה יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ מוֹרִ֥ישׁ אוֹתָ֖ם מִפָּנֶֽיךָ׃For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD. And because of these detestable things, the LORD your God is driving out the nations before you. 13Jy moet volkome wees met die HERE jou God.תָּמִ֣ים תִּֽהְיֶ֔ה עִ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ סYou must be blameless before the LORD your God.

14Want hierdie nasies wat jy verdryf, luister na goëlaars en na waarsêers; maar aan jou het die HERE jou God dit nie so gegee nie.

Letterlik: en jy, nie so het die HERE jou God aan jou gegee nie.

כִּ֣י׀ הַגּוֹיִ֣ם הָאֵ֗לֶּה אֲשֶׁ֤ר אַתָּה֙ יוֹרֵ֣שׁ אוֹתָ֔ם אֶל־מְעֹנְנִ֥ים וְאֶל־קֹסְמִ֖ים יִשְׁמָ֑עוּ וְאַתָּ֕ה לֹ֣א כֵ֔ן נָ֛תַן לְךָ֖ יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃Though these nations, which you will dispossess, listen to conjurers and diviners, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so.

15'n Profeet uit jou midde, uit jou broers, soos ek, sal die HERE jou God vir jou laat opstaan; na hom moet julle luister.נָבִ֨יא מִקִּרְבְּךָ֤ מֵאַחֶ֨יךָ֙ כָּמֹ֔נִי יָקִ֥ים לְךָ֖ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ אֵלָ֖יו תִּשְׁמָעֽוּן׃The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to him. 16Dit is ooreenkomstig alles wat jy van die HERE jou God gevra het by Horeb op die dag van die vergadering, toe jy gesê het: “Ek sal nie voortgaan om die stem van die HERE my God te hoor nie, en hierdie groot vuur sal ek nie meer sien nie, sodat ek nie sterf nie.”כְּכֹ֨ל אֲשֶׁר־שָׁאַ֜לְתָּ מֵעִ֨ם יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ֙ בְּחֹרֵ֔ב בְּי֥וֹם הַקָּהָ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹ֣א אֹסֵ֗ף לִשְׁמֹ֨עַ֙ אֶת־קוֹל֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֔י וְאֶת־הָאֵ֨שׁ הַגְּדֹלָ֥ה הַזֹּ֛את לֹֽא־אֶרְאֶ֥ה ע֖וֹד וְלֹ֥א אָמֽוּת׃This is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God or see this great fire anymore, so that we will not die!” 17En die HERE het vir my gesê: “Hulle het goed gedoen met wat hulle gesê het.וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֵלָ֑י הֵיטִ֖יבוּ אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֵּֽרוּ׃Then the LORD said to me, “They have spoken well. 18'n Profeet sal Ek vir hulle laat opstaan uit die midde van hulle broers, soos jy, en Ek sal My woorde in sy mond gee, en hy sal aan hulle spreek alles wat Ek hom beveel.נָבִ֨יא אָקִ֥ים לָהֶ֛ם מִקֶּ֥רֶב אֲחֵיהֶ֖ם כָּמ֑וֹךָ וְנָתַתִּ֤י דְבָרַי֙ בְּפִ֔יו וְדִבֶּ֣ר אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם אֵ֖ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲצַוֶּֽנּוּ׃I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. I will put My words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. 19En dit sal gebeur: elkeen wat nie luister na My woorde wat hy in My naam spreek nie, van hom sal Ek self dit eis.וְהָיָ֗ה הָאִישׁ֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־יִשְׁמַע֙ אֶל־דְּבָרַ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְדַבֵּ֖ר בִּשְׁמִ֑י אָנֹכִ֖י אֶדְרֹ֥שׁ מֵעִמּֽוֹ׃And I will hold accountable anyone who does not listen to My words that the prophet speaks in My name. 20Maar die profeet wat vermetel is om 'n woord in My naam te spreek wat Ek hom nie beveel het om te spreek nie, en wat in die naam van ander gode spreek, daardie profeet moet sterf.”אַ֣ךְ הַנָּבִ֡יא אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָזִיד֩ לְדַבֵּ֨ר דָּבָ֜ר בִּשְׁמִ֗י אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־צִוִּיתִיו֙ לְדַבֵּ֔ר וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר יְדַבֵּ֔ר בְּשֵׁ֖ם אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֑ים וּמֵ֖ת הַנָּבִ֥יא הַהֽוּא׃But if any prophet dares to speak a message in My name that I have not commanded him to speak, or to speak in the name of other gods, that prophet must be put to death.”

21En as jy in jou hart sê: “Hoe sal ons die woord ken wat die HERE nie gespreek het nie?”וְכִ֥י תֹאמַ֖ר בִּלְבָבֶ֑ךָ אֵיכָה֙ נֵדַ֣ע אֶת־הַדָּבָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־דִבְּר֖וֹ יְהוָֽה׃You may ask in your heart, “How can we recognize a message that the LORD has not spoken?” 22Wanneer die profeet in die naam van die HERE spreek en die woord gebeur nie en kom nie uit nie, dan is dit die woord wat die HERE nie gespreek het nie; in vermetelheid het die profeet dit gespreek; jy moet nie vir hom bang wees nie.אֲשֶׁר֩ יְדַבֵּ֨ר הַנָּבִ֜יא בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֗ה וְלֹֽא־יִהְיֶ֤ה הַדָּבָר֙ וְלֹ֣א יָב֔וֹא ה֣וּא הַדָּבָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־דִבְּר֖וֹ יְהוָ֑ה בְּזָדוֹן֙ דִּבְּר֣וֹ הַנָּבִ֔יא לֹ֥א תָג֖וּר מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ סWhen a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD and the message does not come to pass or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
