1Toe het koning Dawid aan die hele vergadering gesê: “Salomo, my seun, die enigste wat God gekies het, is jonk en teer, en die werk is groot, want die paleis is nie vir 'n mens nie, maar vir die HERE God.aOf: Salomo, my seun, hy alleen is deur God gekiesוַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֤יד הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ לְכָל־הַקָּהָ֔ל שְׁלֹמֹ֨ה בְנִ֥י אֶחָ֛ד בָּֽחַר־בּ֥וֹ אֱלֹהִ֖ים נַ֣עַר וָרָ֑ךְ וְהַמְּלָאכָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֔ה כִּ֣י לֹ֤א לְאָדָם֙ הַבִּירָ֔ה כִּ֖י לַיהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִֽים׃Then King David said to the whole assembly, “My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is young and inexperienced. The task is great because this palace is not for man, but for the LORD God.2Met al my krag het ek vir die huis van my God voorberei: die goud vir die goudwerk, die silwer vir die silwerwerk, die koper vir die koperwerk, die yster vir die ysterwerk en die hout vir die houtwerk; onikssteen en inlegstene, antimoonstene en veelkleurige stene, en allerhande kosbare stene en marmerstene in menigte. Now with all my ability I have made provision for the house of my God—gold for the gold articles, silver for the silver, bronze for the bronze, iron for the iron, and wood for the wood, as well as onyx for the settings, turquoise, stones of various colors, all kinds of precious stones, and slabs of marble—all in abundance.3En verder, in my welbehae in die huis van my God, het ek 'n eie skat van goud en silwer; dit het ek vir die huis van my God gegee, bo en behalwe alles wat ek vir die heilige huis voorberei het. Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give for it my personal treasures of gold and silver, over and above all that I have provided for this holy temple:43000 talente goud, van die goud van Ofir, en 7000 talente gesuiwerde silwer, om die mure van die huise te oorlê,aOngeveer ’n Talent is ongeveer 34 kilogram; dit is ongeveer 100 ton goud en ongeveer 238 ton silwer.שְׁלֹ֧שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֛ים כִּכְּרֵ֥י זָהָ֖ב מִזְּהַ֣ב אוֹפִ֑יר וְשִׁבְעַ֨ת אֲלָפִ֤ים כִּכַּר־כֶּ֨סֶף֙ מְזֻקָּ֔ק לָט֖וּחַ קִיר֥וֹת הַבָּתִּֽים׃three thousand talents of gold (the gold of Ophir) and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the buildings,5die goud vir die goudwerk en die silwer vir die silwerwerk, en vir alle werk deur die hand van vakmanne. Now who is willing to consecrate himself to the LORD today?”
Then the leaders of the families, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly.7En hulle het vir die diens van die huis van God gegee: goud, 5 000 talente en 10 000 darieks; silwer, 10 000 talente; koper, 18 000 talente; en yster, 100 000 talente.aOngeveer 34 kilogram per talent; 'n dariek was 'n Persiese goue munt van ongeveer 8,4 gram. Toward the service of God’s house they gave 5,000 talents and 10,000 darics of gold, 10,000 talents of silver, 18,000 talents of bronze, and 100,000 talents of iron.8En die by wie stene gevind is, het dit vir die skatkamer van die huis van die HERE gegee, onder die hand van Jehiël, die Gersoniet. Whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, under the care of Jehiel the Gershonite.9En die volk was bly oor hulle gewillige gee, want met 'n volkome hart het hulle vrywillig aan die HERE gegee; en ook koning Dawid was met groot blydskap bly. And the people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given to the LORD freely and wholeheartedly. And King David also rejoiced greatly.
Then David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly and said: “May You be blessed, O LORD, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.11Aan U, HERE, behoort die grootheid en die mag en die prag en die oorwinning en die majesteit, want alles in die hemel en op die aarde is U s’n; aan U, HERE, behoort die koningskap, en U verhef U as hoof oor alles. Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in heaven and on earth belongs to You. 20Toe het Dawid aan die hele vergadering gesê: “Loof nou die HERE julle God!” Then David said to the whole assembly, “Bless the LORD your God.” So the whole assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers. They bowed down and paid homage to the LORD and to the king.21En hulle het aan die HERE slagoffers geoffer en brandoffers aan die HERE gebring op die dag na daardie dag: 1 000 bulle, 1 000 ramme, 1 000 lammers, met hulle drankoffers, en slagoffers in oorvloed vir die hele Israel. The next day they offered sacrifices and presented burnt offerings to the LORD: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, along with their drink offerings, and other sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.22Hulle het op daardie dag voor die aangesig van die HERE met groot blydskap geëet en gedrink. That day they ate and drank with great joy in the presence of the LORD. Then, for a second time, they designated David’s son Solomon as king, anointing him before the LORD as ruler, and Zadok as the priest.23En Salomo het op die troon van die HERE as koning gaan sit in die plek van sy vader Dawid, en hy was voorspoedig, en die hele Israel het hom gehoorsaam. So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of his father David.
