It was in my heart to build a house as a resting place for the ark of the covenant of the LORD and as a footstool for our God. For He chose Judah as leader, and from the house of Judah He chose my father’s household, and from my father’s sons He was pleased to make me king over all Israel.5En uit al my seuns — want die HERE het my baie seuns gegee — het Hy my seun Salomo gekies om op die troon van die koningskap van die HERE oor Israel te sit.וּמִכָּ֨ל־בָּנַ֔י כִּ֚י רַבִּ֣ים בָּנִ֔ים נָ֥תַן לִ֖י יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּבְחַר֙ בִּשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנִ֔י לָשֶׁ֗בֶת עַל־כִּסֵּ֛א מַלְכ֥וּת יְהוָ֖ה עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃And of all my sons—for the LORD has given me many sons—He has chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.6Hy het vir my gesê: ‘Salomo, jou seun, hy sal My huis en My howe bou, want Ek het hom vir My as seun gekies, en Ek sal vir hom 'n vader wees.וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לִ֔י שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בִנְךָ֔ הֽוּא־יִבְנֶ֥ה בֵיתִ֖י וַחֲצֵרוֹתָ֑י כִּי־בָחַ֨רְתִּי ב֥וֹ לִי֙ לְבֵ֔ן וַאֲנִ֖י אֶֽהְיֶה־לּ֥וֹ לְאָֽב׃And He said to me, ‘Solomon your son is the one who will build My house and My courts, for I have chosen him as My son, and I will be his Father.7En Ek sal sy koningskap tot in ewigheid bevestig, as hy sterk bly om My gebooie en My verordeninge te doen, soos op hierdie dag.’וַהֲכִינוֹתִ֥י אֶת־מַלְכוּת֖וֹ עַד־לְעוֹלָ֑ם אִם־יֶחֱזַ֗ק לַעֲשׂ֛וֹת מִצְוֺתַ֥י וּמִשְׁפָּטַ֖י כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃I will establish his kingdom forever, if he resolutely carries out My commandments and ordinances, as is being done this day.’8En nou, voor die oë van die hele Israel, die vergadering van die HERE, en voor die ore van ons God: onderhou en soek al die gebooie van die HERE julle God, sodat julle die goeie land in besit kan neem en dit aan julle kinders ná julle tot in ewigheid kan laat erf.וְ֠עַתָּה לְעֵינֵ֨י כָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל קְהַל־יְהוָה֙ וּבְאָזְנֵ֣י אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ שִׁמְר֣וּ וְדִרְשׁ֔וּ כָּל־מִצְוֺ֖ת יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם לְמַ֤עַן תִּֽירְשׁוּ֙ אֶת־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַטּוֹבָ֔ה וְהִנְחַלְתֶּ֛ם לִבְנֵיכֶ֥ם אַחֲרֵיכֶ֖ם עַד־עוֹלָֽם׃ פSo now in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the LORD, and in the hearing of our God, keep and seek out all the commandments of the LORD your God, so that you may possess this good land and leave it as an inheritance to your descendants forever.9En jy, my seun Salomo, ken die God van jou vader en dien Hom met 'n volkome hart en met 'n gewillige siel, want die HERE deursoek alle harte en verstaan elke ontwerp van gedagtes. Wees sterk en doen dit.”רְאֵ֣ה׀ עַתָּ֗ה כִּֽי־יְהוָ֛ה בָּ֧חַר בְּךָ֛ לִבְנֽוֹת־בַּ֥יִת לַמִּקְדָּ֖שׁ חֲזַ֥ק וַעֲשֵֽׂה׃ פConsider now that the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. 20En Dawid het vir sy seun Salomo gesê: “Wees sterk en moedig en doen dit; moenie vrees nie en moenie verskrik wees nie, want die HERE God, my God, is met jou. Hy sal jou nie laat vaar nie en jou nie verlaat nie, totdat al die werk van die diens van die huis van die HERE voltooi is.וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜יד לִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנ֗וֹ חֲזַ֤ק וֶאֱמַץ֙ וַעֲשֵׂ֔ה אַל־תִּירָ֖א וְאַל־תֵּחָ֑ת כִּי֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֤ים אֱלֹהַי֙ עִמָּ֔ךְ לֹ֤א יַרְפְּךָ֙ וְלֹ֣א יַֽעַזְבֶ֔ךָּ עַד־לִכְל֕וֹת כָּל־מְלֶ֖אכֶת עֲבוֹדַ֥ת בֵּית־יְהוָֽה׃David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do it. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will neither fail you nor forsake you before all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.21En kyk, die afdelings van die priesters en die Leviete is daar vir al die diens van die huis van God; en by jou is daar in al die werk elkeen wat gewillig is met wysheid vir al die diens; en die owerstes en die hele volk is daar vir al jou woorde.”aOf: bevele.וְהִנֵּ֗ה מַחְלְקוֹת֙ הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים וְהַלְוִיִּ֔ם לְכָל־עֲבוֹדַ֖ת בֵּ֣ית הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְעִמְּךָ֙ בְכָל־מְלָאכָ֜ה לְכָל־נָדִ֤יב בַּֽחָכְמָה֙ לְכָל־עֲבוֹדָ֔ה וְהַשָּׂרִ֥ים וְכָל־הָעָ֖ם לְכָל־דְּבָרֶֽיךָ׃ פThe divisions of the priests and Levites are ready for all the service of the house of God, and every willing man of every skill will be at your disposal for the work. The officials and all the people are fully at your command.”
