1Dawid het met die owerstes oor duisend en oor honderd beraadslaag, met elke leier.וַיִּוָּעַ֣ץ דָּוִ֗יד עִם־שָׂרֵ֧י הָאֲלָפִ֛ים וְהַמֵּא֖וֹת לְכָל־נָגִֽיד׃Then David conferred with all his leaders, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds. 2En Dawid het aan die hele vergadering van Israel gesê: “As dit vir julle goed is en dit van die HERE ons God is, laat ons wyd en syd stuur na ons broers wat oorgebly het in al die lande van Israel, en saam met hulle die priesters en die Leviete in die stede van hul weivelde, dat hulle by ons bymekaarkom,
aLetterlik: laat ons uitbreek, laat ons stuur.
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜יד לְכֹ֣ל׀ קְהַ֣ל יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אִם־עֲלֵיכֶ֨ם ט֜וֹב וּמִן־יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ נִפְרְצָה֙ נִשְׁלְחָ֞ה עַל־אַחֵ֣ינוּ הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֗ים בְּכֹל֙ אַרְצ֣וֹת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְעִמָּהֶ֛ם הַכֹּהֲנִ֥ים וְהַלְוִיִּ֖ם בְּעָרֵ֣י מִגְרְשֵׁיהֶ֑ם וְיִקָּבְצ֖וּ אֵלֵֽינוּ׃And he said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if this is of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers in all the land of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands, so that they may join us. 3En laat ons die ark van ons God na ons toe terugbring, want ons het dit nie in die dae van Saul gesoek nie.וְנָסֵ֛בָּה אֶת־אֲר֥וֹן אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ אֵלֵ֑ינוּ כִּי־לֹ֥א דְרַשְׁנֻ֖הוּ בִּימֵ֥י שָׁאֽוּל׃Then let us bring back the ark of our God, for we did not inquire of Him in the days of Saul.” 4Die hele vergadering het gesê om so te doen, want die saak was reg in die oë van die hele volk.וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ כָֽל־הַקָּהָ֖ל לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת כֵּ֑ן כִּֽי־יָשַׁ֥ר הַדָּבָ֖ר בְּעֵינֵ֥י כָל־הָעָֽם׃And because this proposal seemed right to all the people, the whole assembly agreed to it.
5Dawid het toe die hele Israel bymekaargeroep, van die Sihor van Egipte tot by die ingang na Hamat, om die ark van God uit Kirjat-Jearim te bring.

וַיַּקְהֵ֤ל דָּוִיד֙ אֶת־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִן־שִׁיח֥וֹר מִצְרַ֖יִם וְעַד־לְב֣וֹא חֲמָ֑ת לְהָבִיא֙ אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים מִקִּרְיַ֖ת יְעָרִֽים׃So David assembled all Israel, from the River Shihor in Egypt to Lebo-hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim. 6Dawid en die hele Israel het opgetrek na Baäla, na Kirjat-Jearim wat aan Juda behoort, om daarvandaan die ark van God, die HERE wat op die gerubs sit, op te bring, waaroor die Naam uitgeroep is.

וַיַּ֨עַל דָּוִ֤יד וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בַּעֲלָ֔תָה אֶל־קִרְיַ֥ת יְעָרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר לִיהוּדָ֑ה לְהַעֲל֣וֹת מִשָּׁ֗ם אֵת֩ אֲר֨וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֧ים׀ יְהוָ֛ה יוֹשֵׁ֥ב הַכְּרוּבִ֖ים אֲשֶׁר־נִקְרָ֥א שֵֽׁם׃David and all Israel went up to Baalah of Judah (that is, Kiriath-jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim—the ark that is called by the Name.
7En hulle het die ark van God op 'n nuwe kar laat ry, uit die huis van Abinadab; en Ussa en sy broer het die kar bestuur.וַיַּרְכִּ֜יבוּ אֶת־אֲר֤וֹן הָאֱלֹהִים֙ עַל־עֲגָלָ֣ה חֲדָשָׁ֔ה מִבֵּ֖ית אֲבִינָדָ֑ב וְעֻזָּ֣א וְאַחְי֔וֹ נֹהֲגִ֖ים בָּעֲגָלָֽה׃So they carried the ark of God from the house of Abinadab on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding the cart. 8En Dawid en die hele Israel het voor die aangesig van God gedans met al hul sterkte, met liedere en met liere en met harpe en met tamboeryne en met simbale en met trompette.

וְדָוִ֣יד וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מְשַׂחֲקִ֛ים לִפְנֵ֥י הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים בְּכָל־עֹ֑ז וּבְשִׁירִ֤ים וּבְכִנֹּרוֹת֙ וּבִנְבָלִ֣ים וּבְתֻפִּ֔ים וּבִמְצִלְתַּ֖יִם וּבַחֲצֹצְרֽוֹת׃David and all the Israelites were celebrating before God with all their might, with songs and on harps and lyres, with tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.
9Toe hulle by die dorsvloer van Kidon kom, het Ussa sy hand uitgesteek om die ark vas te gryp, want die beeste het gestruikel.

וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ עַד־גֹּ֣רֶן כִּידֹ֑ן וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח עֻזָּ֜א אֶת־יָד֗וֹ לֶאֱחֹז֙ אֶת־הָ֣אָר֔וֹן כִּ֥י שָֽׁמְט֖וּ הַבָּקָֽר׃When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark, because the oxen had stumbled. 10Toe het die toorn van die HERE teen Ussa ontvlam, en Hy het hom getref omdat hy sy hand na die ark uitgesteek het, en hy het daar voor die aangesig van God gesterf.וַיִּֽחַר־אַ֤ף יְהוָה֙ בְּעֻזָּ֔א וַיַּכֵּ֕הוּ עַ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַ֥ח יָד֖וֹ עַל־הָאָר֑וֹן וַיָּ֥מָת שָׁ֖ם לִפְנֵ֥י אֱלֹהִֽים׃And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
11Dawid het toe kwaad geword omdat die HERE 'n uitbreking teen Ussa uitgebreek het; en daardie plek is Peres-Ussa genoem tot vandag toe.

וַיִּ֣חַר לְדָוִ֔יד כִּֽי־פָרַ֧ץ יְהוָ֛ה פֶּ֖רֶץ בְּעֻזָּ֑א וַיִּקְרָ֞א לַמָּק֤וֹם הַהוּא֙ פֶּ֣רֶץ עֻזָּ֔א עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃Then David became angry because the LORD had burst forth against Uzzah. So he named that place Perez-uzzah, as it is called to this day. 12En Dawid het op daardie dag God gevrees en gesê: “Hoe sal ek die ark van God na my toe bring?”וַיִּירָ֤א דָוִיד֙ אֶת־הָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא לֵאמֹ֑ר הֵ֚יךְ אָבִ֣יא אֵלַ֔י אֵ֖ת אֲר֥וֹן הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃That day David feared God and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”
13En Dawid het die ark nie na hom toe laat wegdraai na die stad van Dawid nie, maar het dit laat afwyk na die huis van Obed-Edom, die Gittiet.וְלֹֽא־הֵסִ֨יר דָּוִ֧יד אֶת־הָאָר֛וֹן אֵלָ֖יו אֶל־עִ֣יר דָּוִ֑יד וַיַּטֵּ֕הוּ אֶל־בֵּ֥ית עֹבֵֽד־אֱדֹ֖ם הַגִּתִּֽי׃So he did not move the ark with him to the City of David; instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. 14En die ark van God het by die huis van Obed-Edom in sy huis gebly, drie maande lank; en die HERE het die huis van Obed-Edom geseën en alles wat hy gehad het.וַיֵּשֶׁב֩ אֲר֨וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֜ים עִם־בֵּ֨ית עֹבֵ֥ד אֱדֹ֛ם בְּבֵית֖וֹ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה חֳדָשִׁ֑ים וַיְבָ֧רֶךְ יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־בֵּ֥ית עֹבֵֽד־אֱדֹ֖ם וְאֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁר־לֽוֹ׃ פThus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he owned.
