1En dit het gebeur op een van die dae, terwyl Hy die volk in die tempel geleer en die evangelie verkondig het, dat die leierpriesters en die skrifgeleerdes saam met die oudstes by Hom kom staan het,Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν μιᾷ τῶν ⸀ἡμερῶν διδάσκοντος αὐτοῦ τὸν λαὸν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ καὶ εὐαγγελιζομένου ἐπέστησαν οἱ ⸀ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς σὺν τοῖς πρεσβυτέροις,One day as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courts and proclaiming the gospel, the chief priests and scribes, together with the elders, came up to Him.2en hulle het met Hom gepraat en gesê: “Sê vir ons, met watter gesag doen U hierdie dinge, of wie is dit wat U hierdie gesag gegee het?”καὶ εἶπαν ⸂λέγοντες πρὸς αὐτόν⸃· Εἰπὸν ἡμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιεῖς, ἢ τίς ἐστιν ὁ δούς σοι τὴν ἐξουσίαν ταύτην;“Tell us,” they said, “by what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?”3Hy het geantwoord en vir hulle gesê: “Ek sal julle ook iets vra; sê vir My:aLetterlik: Ek sal julle ook ’n woord vra.ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Ἐρωτήσω ὑμᾶς ⸀κἀγὼ λόγον, καὶ εἴπατέ μοι·“I will also ask you a question,” Jesus replied. “Tell Me:4Die doop van Johannes, was dit uit die hemel of uit mense?”Τὸ βάπτισμα Ἰωάννου ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἦν ἢ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων;John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or from men?”5Hulle het onder mekaar geredeneer en gesê: “As ons sê: ‘Uit die hemel,’ sal Hy sê: ‘Waarom het julle hom nie geglo nie?’οἱ δὲ συνελογίσαντο πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς λέγοντες ὅτι Ἐὰν εἴπωμεν· Ἐξ οὐρανοῦ, ἐρεῖ· Διὰ τί οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε αὐτῷ;They deliberated among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will ask, ‘Why did you not believe him?’6Maar as ons sê: ‘Uit mense,’ sal die hele volk ons stenig, want hulle is oortuig dat Johannes ’n profeet is.”ἐὰν δὲ εἴπωμεν· Ἐξ ἀνθρώπων, ⸂ὁ λαὸς ἅπας⸃ καταλιθάσει ἡμᾶς, πεπεισμένος γάρ ἐστιν Ἰωάννην προφήτην εἶναι·But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are convinced that John was a prophet.”7En hulle het geantwoord dat hulle nie weet waarvandaan nie.καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν μὴ εἰδέναι πόθεν.So they answered that they did not know where it was from.8En Jesus het vir hulle gesê: “Ook Ek sê nie vir julle met watter gesag Ek hierdie dinge doen nie.”καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Οὐδὲ ἐγὼ λέγω ὑμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ.And Jesus replied, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”
Then He proceeded to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, rented it out to some tenants, and went away for a long time.10En op die bepaalde tyd het hy 'n slaaf na die wingerdboere gestuur, sodat hulle hom van die vrug van die wingerd sou gee; maar die wingerdboere het hom geslaan en leeg weggestuur.⸀καὶ καιρῷ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς τοὺς γεωργοὺς δοῦλον, ἵνα ἀπὸ τοῦ καρποῦ τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος ⸀δώσουσιν αὐτῷ· οἱ δὲ γεωργοὶ ⸂ἐξαπέστειλαν αὐτὸν δείραντες⸃ κενόν.At harvest time, he sent a servant to the tenants to collect his share of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat the servant and sent him away empty-handed.11En hy het weer 'n ander slaaf gestuur; maar hulle het ook daardie een geslaan en onteer en leeg weggestuur.καὶ προσέθετο ⸂ἕτερον πέμψαι⸃ δοῦλον· οἱ δὲ κἀκεῖνον δείραντες καὶ ἀτιμάσαντες ἐξαπέστειλαν κενόν.So he sent another servant, but they beat him and treated him shamefully, sending him away empty-handed.12En hy het verder ’n derde gestuur; maar hulle het ook hierdie een gewond en uitgegooi.καὶ προσέθετο ⸂τρίτον πέμψαι⸃· οἱ δὲ καὶ τοῦτον τραυματίσαντες ἐξέβαλον.Then he sent a third, but they wounded him and threw him out.13Toe sê die heer van die wingerd: ‘Wat sal ek doen? Ek sal my geliefde seun stuur; miskien sal hulle hom ontsien.’aSommige manuskripte lees: miskien sal hulle hom ontsien wanneer hulle hom sien.εἶπεν δὲ ὁ κύριος τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος· Τί ποιήσω; πέμψω τὸν υἱόν μου τὸν ἀγαπητόν· ἴσως ⸀τοῦτον ἐντραπήσονται.‘What shall I do?’ asked the owner of the vineyard. ‘I will send my beloved son. Perhaps they will respect him.’14Maar toe die boere hom sien, het hulle onder mekaar geredeneer en gesê: ‘Dit is die erfgenaam; laat ons hom doodmaak, sodat die erfenis ons s’n kan word.’ἰδόντες δὲ αὐτὸν οἱ γεωργοὶ διελογίζοντο πρὸς ⸀ἀλλήλους λέγοντες· Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ κληρονόμος· ⸀ἀποκτείνωμεν αὐτόν, ἵνα ἡμῶν γένηται ἡ κληρονομία·But when the tenants saw the son, they discussed it among themselves and said, ‘This is the heir. Let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’15En hulle het hom buite die wingerd uitgegooi en doodgemaak. Wat sal die heer van die wingerd dan met hulle doen?καὶ ἐκβαλόντες αὐτὸν ἔξω τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος ἀπέκτειναν. τί οὖν ποιήσει αὐτοῖς ὁ κύριος τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος;So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?16Hy sal kom en hierdie boere ombring en die wingerd aan ander gee.” Toe hulle dit hoor, het hulle gesê: “Mag dit nooit gebeur nie!”ἐλεύσεται καὶ ἀπολέσει τοὺς γεωργοὺς τούτους, καὶ δώσει τὸν ἀμπελῶνα ἄλλοις. ἀκούσαντες δὲ εἶπαν· Μὴ γένοιτο.He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” And when the people heard this, they said, “May such a thing never happen!”17Maar Hy het hulle aangekyk en gesê: “Wat is dan hierdie wat geskryf is: ‘Die steen wat die bouers verwerp het, dit het die hoeksteen geword’?aAanhaling uit Psalm 118:22.bLetterlik: dit het die hoof van die hoek geword.ὁ δὲ ἐμβλέψας αὐτοῖς εἶπεν· Τί οὖν ἐστιν τὸ γεγραμμένον τοῦτο· Λίθον ὃν ἀπεδοκίμασαν οἱ οἰκοδομοῦντες, οὗτος ἐγενήθη εἰς κεφαλὴν γωνίας;But Jesus looked directly at them and said, “Then what is the meaning of that which is written: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’ ?18Elkeen wat op daardie steen val, sal verpletter word; en op wie dit ook al val, hom sal dit vermorsel.”πᾶς ὁ πεσὼν ἐπʼ ἐκεῖνον τὸν λίθον συνθλασθήσεται· ἐφʼ ὃν δʼ ἂν πέσῃ, λικμήσει αὐτόν.Everyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed.”19En die skrifgeleerdes en die leierpriesters het probeer om in daardie selfde uur die hande aan Hom te slaan, maar hulle was bang vir die volk; want hulle het verstaan dat Hy hierdie gelykenis met die oog op hulle gesê het.καὶ ἐζήτησαν οἱ ⸂γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς⸃ ἐπιβαλεῖν ἐπʼ αὐτὸν τὰς χεῖρας ἐν αὐτῇ τῇ ὥρᾳ, καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν ⸂τὸν λαόν⸃, ἔγνωσαν γὰρ ὅτι πρὸς αὐτοὺς ⸂εἶπεν τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην⸃.When the scribes and chief priests realized that Jesus had spoken this parable against them, they sought to arrest Him that very hour. But they were afraid of the people.
20En hulle het Hom dopgehou en spioene gestuur wat voorgegee het dat hulle regverdig is, om Hom op ’n woord te betrap, sodat hulle Hom aan die owerheid en die gesag van die goewerneur kon oorlewer.Καὶ παρατηρήσαντες ἀπέστειλαν ἐγκαθέτους ὑποκρινομένους ἑαυτοὺς δικαίους εἶναι, ἵνα ἐπιλάβωνται αὐτοῦ λόγου, ⸀ὥστε παραδοῦναι αὐτὸν τῇ ἀρχῇ καὶ τῇ ἐξουσίᾳ τοῦ ἡγεμόνος.So they watched Him closely and sent spies who pretended to be sincere. They were hoping to catch Him in His words in order to hand Him over to the rule and authority of the governor.21En hulle het Hom gevra en gesê: “Meester, ons weet dat U reg praat en leer en nie partydig is nie, maar in waarheid die weg van God leer.aLetterlik: U neem nie die aangesig aan nie.καὶ ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν λέγοντες· Διδάσκαλε, οἴδαμεν ὅτι ὀρθῶς λέγεις καὶ διδάσκεις καὶ οὐ λαμβάνεις πρόσωπον, ἀλλʼ ἐπʼ ἀληθείας τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ θεοῦ διδάσκεις·“Teacher,” they inquired, “we know that You speak and teach correctly. You show no partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.22Is dit vir ons geoorloof om aan die keiser belasting te gee of nie?”ἔξεστιν ⸀ἡμᾶς Καίσαρι φόρον δοῦναι ἢ οὔ;Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”23Maar Hy het hulle sluheid bemerk en vir hulle gesê:aSommige manuskripte lees: ... en vir hulle gesê: Waarom versoek julle My?κατανοήσας δὲ αὐτῶν τὴν πανουργίαν εἶπεν πρὸς ⸀αὐτούς·But Jesus saw through their duplicity and said to them,24“Wys My ’n denarius. Wie se beeld en opskrif het dit?” Hulle het geantwoord en gesê: “Die keiser s’n.”aOngeveer ’n dagloon.⸀Δείξατέ μοι δηνάριον· τίνος ἔχει εἰκόνα καὶ ἐπιγραφήν; ⸀ἀποκριθέντες δὲ εἶπαν· Καίσαρος.“Show Me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?” “Caesar’s,” they answered.25En Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Gee dan terug wat van die keiser is aan die keiser, en wat van God is aan God.”ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ⸂πρὸς αὐτούς· Τοίνυν ἀπόδοτε⸃ τὰ Καίσαρος Καίσαρι καὶ τὰ τοῦ θεοῦ τῷ θεῷ.So Jesus told them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”26En hulle kon nie Sy woord voor die volk vasvat nie, en verwonderd oor Sy antwoord het hulle stilgebly.καὶ οὐκ ἴσχυσαν ἐπιλαβέσθαι ⸀τοῦ ῥήματος ἐναντίον τοῦ λαοῦ, καὶ θαυμάσαντες ἐπὶ τῇ ἀποκρίσει αὐτοῦ ἐσίγησαν.And they were unable to trap Him in His words before the people. And amazed at His answer, they fell silent.
27En sommige van die Sadduseërs, wat teenspreek dat daar 'n opstanding is, het na Hom toe gekom en Hom gevraΠροσελθόντες δέ τινες τῶν Σαδδουκαίων, οἱ ⸀ἀντιλέγοντες ἀνάστασιν μὴ εἶναι, ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸνThen some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to question Him.28en gesê: “Meester, Moses het vir ons geskryf: As iemand se broer sterf terwyl hy ’n vrou het, en hy kinderloos is, moet sy broer die vrou neem en vir sy broer nageslag verwek.aLetterlik: vir sy broer saad verwek.λέγοντες· Διδάσκαλε, Μωϋσῆς ἔγραψεν ἡμῖν, ἐάν τινος ἀδελφὸς ἀποθάνῃ ἔχων γυναῖκα, καὶ οὗτος ἄτεκνος ⸀ᾖ, ἵνα λάβῃ ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ τὴν γυναῖκα καὶ ἐξαναστήσῃ σπέρμα τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ.“Teacher,” they said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man is to marry his brother’s widow and raise up offspring for him.29Daar was dan sewe broers; en die eerste het ’n vrou geneem en kinderloos gesterf;ἑπτὰ οὖν ἀδελφοὶ ἦσαν· καὶ ὁ πρῶτος λαβὼν γυναῖκα ἀπέθανεν ἄτεκνος·Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a wife but died childless.30en die tweede,aSommige manuskripte lees: en die tweede het die vrou geneem, en ook hy het kinderloos gesterf.καὶ ⸂ὁ δεύτερος⸃Then the second31en die derde het haar geneem, en net so ook die sewe het geen kinders agtergelaat nie, en gesterf.καὶ ὁ τρίτος ἔλαβεν ⸀αὐτήν, ὡσαύτως δὲ καὶ οἱ ἑπτὰ οὐ κατέλιπον τέκνα καὶ ἀπέθανον·and the third married the widow, and in the same way all seven died, leaving no children.32Later het ook die vrou gesterf.ὕστερον ⸂καὶ ἡ γυνὴ ἀπέθανεν⸃.And last of all, the woman died.33Die vrou dan, in die opstanding, wie van hulle se vrou word sy? Want al sewe het haar as vrou gehad.”⸂ἡ γυνὴ οὖν ἐν τῇ⸃ ἀναστάσει τίνος αὐτῶν γίνεται γυνή; οἱ γὰρ ἑπτὰ ἔσχον αὐτὴν γυναῖκα.So then, in the resurrection, whose wife will she be? For all seven were married to her.”34En Jesus het vir hulle gesê: “Die kinders van hierdie eeu trou en word uitgehuwelik,aLetterlik: seuns.⸀Καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου γαμοῦσιν καὶ ⸀γαμίσκονται,Jesus answered, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage.35maar die wat waardig geag word om daardie eeu te bereik en die opstanding uit die dooies, trou nie en word nie uitgehuwelik nie;οἱ δὲ καταξιωθέντες τοῦ αἰῶνος ἐκείνου τυχεῖν καὶ τῆς ἀναστάσεως τῆς ἐκ νεκρῶν οὔτε γαμοῦσιν οὔτε ⸀γαμίζονται·But those who are considered worthy to share in the age to come and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage.36want hulle kan ook nie meer sterf nie, want hulle is aan die engele gelyk en is kinders van God, omdat hulle kinders van die opstanding is.aLetterlik: seuns van God ... seuns van die opstanding.⸀οὐδὲ γὰρ ἀποθανεῖν ἔτι δύνανται, ἰσάγγελοι γάρ εἰσιν καὶ υἱοί ⸀εἰσιν θεοῦ τῆς ἀναστάσεως υἱοὶ ὄντες.In fact, they can no longer die, because they are like the angels. And since they are sons of the resurrection, they are sons of God.37Maar dat die dooies opgewek word, het ook Moses aangetoon by die doringbos, wanneer hy die Here ‘die God van Abraham en God van Isak en God van Jakob’ noem.aAanhaling uit Eksodus 3:6.ὅτι δὲ ἐγείρονται οἱ νεκροὶ καὶ Μωϋσῆς ἐμήνυσεν ἐπὶ τῆς βάτου, ὡς λέγει κύριον τὸν θεὸν Ἀβραὰμ ⸀καὶ θεὸν Ἰσαὰκ ⸁καὶ θεὸν Ἰακώβ·Even Moses demonstrates that the dead are raised, in the passage about the burning bush. For he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’38Hy is nie die God van dooies nie, maar van lewendes, want vir Hom lewe almal.”θεὸς δὲ οὐκ ἔστιν νεκρῶν ἀλλὰ ζώντων, πάντες γὰρ αὐτῷ ζῶσιν.He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to Him all are alive.”39Sommige van die skrifgeleerdes het geantwoord en gesê: “Meester, U het goed gepraat.”ἀποκριθέντες δέ τινες τῶν γραμματέων εἶπαν· Διδάσκαλε, καλῶς εἶπας·Some of the scribes answered, “Teacher, You have spoken well!”40Want hulle het dit nie meer gewaag om Hom enigiets te vra nie.οὐκέτι ⸀γὰρ ἐτόλμων ἐπερωτᾶν αὐτὸν οὐδέν.And they did not dare to question Him any further.
41Toe sê Hy vir hulle: “Hoe sê hulle dat die Christus Dawid se seun is?Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς· Πῶς λέγουσιν τὸν χριστὸν ⸂εἶναι Δαυὶδ υἱόν⸃;Then Jesus declared, “How can it be said that the Christ is the Son of David?42Want Dawid self sê in die boek van die Psalms: ‘Die Here het vir my Here gesê: Sit aan My regterhand,aAanhaling uit Psalm 110:1.⸂αὐτὸς γὰρ⸃ Δαυὶδ λέγει ἐν βίβλῳ ψαλμῶν· ⸀Εἶπεν κύριος τῷ κυρίῳ μου· Κάθου ἐκ δεξιῶν μουFor David himself says in the book of Psalms: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand43totdat Ek U vyande ’n voetbank vir U voete maak.’ἕως ἂν θῶ τοὺς ἐχθρούς σου ὑποπόδιον τῶν ποδῶν σου.until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”’44Dawid noem Hom dus ‘Here’, en hoe is Hy sy seun?”Δαυὶδ οὖν ⸂αὐτὸν κύριον⸃ καλεῖ, καὶ πῶς ⸂αὐτοῦ υἱός⸃ ἐστιν;Thus David calls Him ‘Lord.’ So how can He be David’s son?”
45Terwyl die hele volk luister, het Hy vir die dissipels gesê:Ἀκούοντος δὲ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ εἶπεν τοῖς ⸀μαθηταῖς·In the hearing of all the people, Jesus said to His disciples,46“Pas op vir die skrifgeleerdes, wat daarvan hou om in lang gewade rond te loop en wat lief is vir begroetings op die markpleine en die voorste sitplekke in die sinagoges en die voorste plekke by die maaltye,Προσέχετε ἀπὸ τῶν γραμματέων τῶν θελόντων περιπατεῖν ἐν στολαῖς καὶ φιλούντων ἀσπασμοὺς ἐν ταῖς ἀγοραῖς καὶ πρωτοκαθεδρίας ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ πρωτοκλισίας ἐν τοῖς δείπνοις,“Beware of the scribes. They like to walk around in long robes, and they love the greetings in the marketplaces, the chief seats in the synagogues, and the places of honor at banquets.47wat die huise van die weduwees verslind en vir die skyn lank bid. Hulle sal ’n swaarder oordeel ontvang.”οἳ κατεσθίουσιν τὰς οἰκίας τῶν χηρῶν καὶ προφάσει μακρὰ προσεύχονται· οὗτοι λήμψονται περισσότερον κρίμα.They defraud widows of their houses, and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will receive greater condemnation.”
