1Intussen, toe die skare by tienduisende saamgedrom het, sodat hulle mekaar vertrap het, het Hy eers vir Sy dissipels begin sê: “Wees op julle hoede vir die suurdeeg van die Fariseërs, wat huigelary is.Ἐν οἷς ἐπισυναχθεισῶν τῶν μυριάδων τοῦ ὄχλου, ὥστε καταπατεῖν ἀλλήλους, ἤρξατο λέγειν πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ πρῶτον· Προσέχετε ἑαυτοῖς ἀπὸ τῆς ζύμης, ⸂ἥτις ἐστὶν ὑπόκρισις, τῶν Φαρισαίων⸃.In the meantime, a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling one another. Jesus began to speak first to His disciples: “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.2Maar niks is toegedek wat nie onthul sal word nie, en niks verborge wat nie bekend sal word nie.οὐδὲν δὲ συγκεκαλυμμένον ἐστὶν ὃ οὐκ ἀποκαλυφθήσεται, καὶ κρυπτὸν ὃ οὐ γνωσθήσεται.There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known.3Daarom, alles wat julle in die duisternis gesê het, sal in die lig gehoor word, en wat julle in die binnekamers in die oor gespreek het, sal op die dakke verkondig word.aLetterlik: in die oor gespreek, dit wil sê fluisterend gesê.ἀνθʼ ὧν ὅσα ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ εἴπατε ἐν τῷ φωτὶ ἀκουσθήσεται, καὶ ὃ πρὸς τὸ οὖς ἐλαλήσατε ἐν τοῖς ταμείοις κηρυχθήσεται ἐπὶ τῶν δωμάτων.What you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the housetops.4Maar Ek sê vir julle, My vriende: Moenie vrees vir dié wat die liggaam doodmaak en daarna niks meer het wat hulle kan doen nie.Λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν τοῖς φίλοις μου, μὴ φοβηθῆτε ἀπὸ τῶν ἀποκτεινόντων τὸ σῶμα καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα μὴ ἐχόντων περισσότερόν τι ποιῆσαι.I tell you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more.5Maar Ek sal julle aantoon wie julle moet vrees: vrees Hom wat ná die doodmaak gesag het om in die hel te gooi. Ja, Ek sê vir julle, vrees Hom.ὑποδείξω δὲ ὑμῖν τίνα φοβηθῆτε· φοβήθητε τὸν μετὰ τὸ ἀποκτεῖναι ⸂ἔχοντα ἐξουσίαν⸃ ἐμβαλεῖν εἰς τὴν γέενναν· ναί, λέγω ὑμῖν, τοῦτον φοβήθητε.But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear the One who, after you have been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him!6Word vyf mossies nie vir twee assaria verkoop nie? En nie een van hulle is voor God vergeet nie.aOngeveer 'n sestiende van 'n dagloon elk.οὐχὶ πέντε στρουθία ⸀πωλοῦνται ἀσσαρίων δύο; καὶ ἓν ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐκ ἔστιν ἐπιλελησμένον ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ.Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.7Maar selfs die hare van julle kop is almal getel. Moenie vrees nie; julle is meer werd as baie mossies.ἀλλὰ καὶ αἱ τρίχες τῆς κεφαλῆς ὑμῶν πᾶσαι ἠρίθμηνται· ⸀μὴ φοβεῖσθε· πολλῶν στρουθίων διαφέρετε.And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.8Maar Ek sê vir julle: elkeen wat My voor die mense bely, hom sal die Seun van die mens ook voor die engele van God bely.aLetterlik: wat in My bely … sal in hom bely.Λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν, πᾶς ὃς ἂν ⸀ὁμολογήσῃ ἐν ἐμοὶ ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, καὶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ὁμολογήσει ἐν αὐτῷ ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀγγέλων τοῦ θεοῦ·I tell you, everyone who confesses Me before men, the Son of Man will also confess him before the angels of God.9Maar hy wat My voor die mense verloën het, sal voor die engele van God verloën word.ὁ δὲ ἀρνησάμενός με ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἀπαρνηθήσεται ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀγγέλων τοῦ θεοῦ.But whoever denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.10En elkeen wat 'n woord teen die Seun van die mens sal spreek, dit sal hom vergewe word; maar vir hom wat teen die Heilige Gees gelaster het, sal dit nie vergewe word nie.καὶ πᾶς ὃς ἐρεῖ λόγον εἰς τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου, ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ τῷ δὲ εἰς τὸ ἅγιον πνεῦμα βλασφημήσαντι οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται.And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.11En wanneer hulle julle voor die sinagoges en die owerhede en die magte bring, moenie bekommerd wees oor hoe of waarmee julle julle moet verdedig, of wat julle moet sê nie;ὅταν δὲ ⸀εἰσφέρωσιν ὑμᾶς ἐπὶ τὰς συναγωγὰς καὶ τὰς ἀρχὰς καὶ τὰς ἐξουσίας, μὴ ⸀μεριμνήσητε πῶς ⸂ἢ τί⸃ ἀπολογήσησθε ἢ τί εἴπητε·When you are brought before synagogues, rulers, and authorities, do not worry about how to defend yourselves or what to say.12want die Heilige Gees sal julle in daardie selfde uur leer wat julle moet sê.”τὸ γὰρ ἅγιον πνεῦμα διδάξει ὑμᾶς ἐν αὐτῇ τῇ ὥρᾳ ἃ δεῖ εἰπεῖν.For at that time the Holy Spirit will teach you what you should say.”
13Toe sê iemand uit die skare vir Hom: “Meester, sê vir my broer om die erfenis met my te deel.”Εἶπεν δέ τις ⸂ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου αὐτῷ⸃· Διδάσκαλε, εἰπὲ τῷ ἀδελφῷ μου μερίσασθαι μετʼ ἐμοῦ τὴν κληρονομίαν.Someone in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”14Maar Hy sê vir hom: “Mens, wie het My as regter of verdeler oor julle aangestel?”ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἄνθρωπε, τίς με κατέστησεν ⸀κριτὴν ἢ μεριστὴν ἐφʼ ὑμᾶς;But Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed Me judge or executor between you?”15En Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Pas op en wees op julle hoede teen alle hebsug, want iemand se lewe is nie daarin geleë dat hy oorvloed het uit sy besittings nie.”εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς· Ὁρᾶτε καὶ φυλάσσεσθε ἀπὸ ⸀πάσης πλεονεξίας, ὅτι οὐκ ἐν τῷ περισσεύειν τινὶ ἡ ζωὴ ⸀αὐτοῦ ἐστιν ἐκ τῶν ὑπαρχόντων ⸀αὐτῷ.And He said to them, “Watch out! Guard yourselves against every form of greed, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
Then He told them a parable: “The ground of a certain rich man produced an abundance.17En hy het by homself geredeneer en gesê: ‘Wat sal ek doen? Want ek het nie plek waar ek my vrugte kan bymekaarmaak nie.’καὶ διελογίζετο ἐν ⸀ἑαυτῷ λέγων· Τί ποιήσω, ὅτι οὐκ ἔχω ποῦ συνάξω τοὺς καρπούς μου;So he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, since I have nowhere to store my crops?’18En hy sê: ‘Dit sal ek doen: Ek sal my skure afbreek en groteres bou, en ek sal al die koring en my goed daar bymekaarmaak,aSommige manuskripte lees: al my opbrengs en my goed.καὶ εἶπεν· Τοῦτο ποιήσω· καθελῶ μου τὰς ἀποθήκας καὶ μείζονας οἰκοδομήσω, καὶ συνάξω ἐκεῖ πάντα ⸂τὸν σῖτον⸃ καὶ τὰ ἀγαθά μου,Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and will build bigger ones, and there I will store up all my grain and my goods.19en ek sal vir my siel sê: “Siel, jy het baie goed wat vir baie jare weggelê is; rus, eet, drink, wees vrolik.” ’καὶ ἐρῶ τῇ ψυχῇ μου· Ψυχή, ἔχεις πολλὰ ἀγαθὰ κείμενα εἰς ἔτη πολλά· ἀναπαύου, φάγε, πίε, εὐφραίνου.Then I will say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take it easy. Eat, drink, and be merry!”’20Maar God het vir hom gesê: ‘Dwaas, hierdie nag eis hulle jou siel van jou; en wat jy voorberei het, vir wie sal dit wees?’aOf: jou lewe.εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ θεός· ⸀Ἄφρων, ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ τὴν ψυχήν σου ⸀ἀπαιτοῦσιν ἀπὸ σοῦ· ἃ δὲ ἡτοίμασας, τίνι ἔσται;But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be required of you. Then who will own what you have accumulated?’21So is hy wat vir homself skatte opgaar en nie ryk is teenoor God nie.”οὕτως ὁ θησαυρίζων ⸀ἑαυτῷ καὶ μὴ εἰς θεὸν πλουτῶν.This is how it will be for anyone who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich toward God.”
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear.23Want die lewe is meer as die voedsel, en die liggaam meer as die kleding.ἡ ⸀γὰρ ψυχὴ πλεῖόν ἐστιν τῆς τροφῆς καὶ τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἐνδύματος.For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.24Let op die kraaie: hulle saai nie en hulle oes nie, hulle het nie 'n binnekamer of 'n skuur nie, en God voed hulle; hoeveel meer is julle werd as die voëls!κατανοήσατε τοὺς κόρακας ὅτι οὐ σπείρουσιν οὐδὲ θερίζουσιν, οἷς οὐκ ἔστιν ταμεῖον οὐδὲ ἀποθήκη, καὶ ὁ θεὸς τρέφει αὐτούς· πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὑμεῖς διαφέρετε τῶν πετεινῶν.Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storehouse or barn; yet God feeds them. How much more valuable you are than the birds!25En wie van julle kan deur bekommerd te wees een el by sy lengte voeg?aOngeveer 45 sentimeter.bOf: een el by sy lewensduur voeg.τίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν μεριμνῶν δύναται ⸂ἐπὶ τὴν ἡλικίαν αὐτοῦ προσθεῖναι⸃ ⸀πῆχυν;Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?26As julle dan nie eens die kleinste kan doen nie, waarom is julle bekommerd oor die res?εἰ οὖν ⸀οὐδὲ ἐλάχιστον δύνασθε, τί περὶ τῶν λοιπῶν μεριμνᾶτε;So if you cannot do such a small thing, why do you worry about the rest?27Let op die lelies, hoe hulle groei: hulle werk nie swaar nie en hulle spin nie; maar Ek sê vir julle, selfs Salomo in al sy heerlikheid was nie geklee soos een van hierdie nie.κατανοήσατε τὰ κρίνα πῶς αὐξάνει· οὐ κοπιᾷ οὐδὲ νήθει· λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν, οὐδὲ Σολομὼν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ δόξῃ αὐτοῦ περιεβάλετο ὡς ἓν τούτων.Consider how the lilies grow: They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these.28As God dan die gras, wat vandag op die veld is en môre in die oond gegooi word, so klee, hoeveel meer julle, kleingelowiges!εἰ δὲ ⸂ἐν ἀγρῷ τὸν χόρτον ὄντα σήμερον⸃ καὶ αὔριον εἰς κλίβανον βαλλόμενον ὁ θεὸς οὕτως ⸀ἀμφιέζει, πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὑμᾶς, ὀλιγόπιστοι.If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith!29En julle, moenie soek wat julle sal eet en wat julle sal drink nie, en moenie onrustig wees nie;καὶ ὑμεῖς μὴ ζητεῖτε τί φάγητε ⸀καὶ τί πίητε, καὶ μὴ μετεωρίζεσθε,And do not be concerned about what you will eat or drink. Do not worry about it.30want al hierdie dinge soek die nasies van die wêreld, maar julle Vader weet dat julle dit nodig het.ταῦτα γὰρ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τοῦ κόσμου ⸀ἐπιζητοῦσιν, ὑμῶν δὲ ὁ πατὴρ οἶδεν ὅτι χρῄζετε τούτων.For the Gentiles of the world strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.31Soek egter Sy koninkryk, en hierdie dinge sal vir julle bygevoeg word.aSommige manuskripte lees: Soek egter die koninkryk van God, en al hierdie dinge sal vir julle bygevoeg word.πλὴν ζητεῖτε τὴν βασιλείαν ⸀αὐτοῦ, καὶ ⸀ταῦτα προστεθήσεται ὑμῖν.But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added unto you.32Moenie bang wees nie, klein kudde, want dit het julle Vader behaag om die koninkryk aan julle te gee.Μὴ φοβοῦ, τὸ μικρὸν ποίμνιον, ὅτι εὐδόκησεν ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν δοῦναι ὑμῖν τὴν βασιλείαν.Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.33Verkoop julle besittings en gee aalmoese; maak vir julleself beurse wat nie oud word nie, 'n skat in die hemele wat nie opraak nie, waar geen dief naby kom en geen mot verniel nie;πωλήσατε τὰ ὑπάρχοντα ὑμῶν καὶ δότε ἐλεημοσύνην· ποιήσατε ἑαυτοῖς βαλλάντια μὴ παλαιούμενα, θησαυρὸν ἀνέκλειπτον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς, ὅπου κλέπτης οὐκ ἐγγίζει οὐδὲ σὴς διαφθείρει·Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide yourselves with purses that will not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.34want waar julle skat is, daar sal ook julle hart wees.ὅπου γάρ ἐστιν ὁ θησαυρὸς ὑμῶν, ἐκεῖ καὶ ἡ καρδία ὑμῶν ἔσται.For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
35Laat julle lendene omgord wees en die lampe brand,Ἔστωσαν ὑμῶν αἱ ὀσφύες περιεζωσμέναι καὶ οἱ λύχνοι καιόμενοι,Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning.36en wees julle soos mense wat op hulle heer wag, wanneer hy van die bruilof sal terugkeer, sodat hulle dadelik vir hom oopmaak wanneer hy gekom en geklop het.καὶ ὑμεῖς ὅμοιοι ἀνθρώποις προσδεχομένοις τὸν κύριον ἑαυτῶν πότε ἀναλύσῃ ἐκ τῶν γάμων, ἵνα ἐλθόντος καὶ κρούσαντος εὐθέως ἀνοίξωσιν αὐτῷ.Then you will be like servants waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks, they can open the door for him at once.37Gelukkig is daardie slawe wat die heer, wanneer hy kom, wakker sal vind. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds on watch when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve and will have them recline at the table, and he himself will come and wait on them.38Of hy in die tweede of in die derde wag kom en hulle so vind, gelukkig is hulle.aOngeveer tussen 21:00 en 03:00.bSommige manuskripte lees: gelukkig is daardie slawe.⸂κἂν ἐν τῇ δευτέρᾳ κἂν⸃ ἐν τῇ τρίτῃ φυλακῇ ἔλθῃ καὶ εὕρῃ οὕτως, μακάριοί ⸀εἰσιν ἐκεῖνοι.Even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night and finds them alert, those servants will be blessed.39Maar weet dit: as die huisheer geweet het op watter uur die dief kom, sou hy nie toegelaat het dat sy huis deurgegrawe word nie.aSommige manuskripte lees: sou hy wakker gebly het en nie toegelaat het dat sy huis deurgegrawe word nie.Τοῦτο δὲ γινώσκετε ὅτι εἰ ᾔδει ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης ποίᾳ ὥρᾳ ὁ κλέπτης ἔρχεται, ⸂οὐκ ἂν⸃ ἀφῆκεν ⸀διορυχθῆναι τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ.But understand this: If the homeowner had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.40Wees julle ook gereed, want op 'n uur wat julle nie dink nie, kom die Seun van die mens.”καὶ ⸀ὑμεῖς γίνεσθε ἕτοιμοι, ὅτι ᾗ ὥρᾳ οὐ δοκεῖτε ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἔρχεται.You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.”
41Toe sê Petrus: “Here, sê U hierdie gelykenis vir ons of ook vir almal?”Εἶπεν ⸀δὲ ὁ Πέτρος· Κύριε, πρὸς ἡμᾶς τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην λέγεις ἢ καὶ πρὸς πάντας;“Lord,” said Peter, “are You addressing this parable to us, or to everyone else as well?”42En die Here het gesê: “Wie is dan die getroue rentmeester, die verstandige, wat die heer oor sy huisgesin sal aanstel om op die regte tyd die voedselrantsoen te gee?⸂καὶ εἶπεν⸃ ὁ κύριος· Τίς ἄρα ἐστὶν ὁ πιστὸς οἰκονόμος, ⸀ὁ φρόνιμος, ὃν καταστήσει ὁ κύριος ἐπὶ τῆς θεραπείας αὐτοῦ τοῦ διδόναι ἐν καιρῷ ⸀τὸ σιτομέτριον;And the Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their portion at the proper time?43Gelukkig is daardie slaaf wat sy heer, wanneer hy kom, so besig sal vind.μακάριος ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος, ὃν ἐλθὼν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ εὑρήσει ποιοῦντα οὕτως·Blessed is that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.44Waarlik sê Ek vir julle dat hy hom oor al sy besittings sal aanstel.ἀληθῶς λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐπὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς ὑπάρχουσιν αὐτοῦ καταστήσει αὐτόν.Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.45Maar as daardie slaaf in sy hart sê: ‘My heer vertoef om te kom,’ en begin om die knegte en die diensmeisies te slaan, en te eet en te drink en dronk te word,ἐὰν δὲ εἴπῃ ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ· Χρονίζει ὁ κύριός μου ἔρχεσθαι, καὶ ἄρξηται τύπτειν τοὺς παῖδας καὶ τὰς παιδίσκας, ἐσθίειν τε καὶ πίνειν καὶ μεθύσκεσθαι,But suppose that servant says in his heart, ‘My master will be a long time in coming,’ and he begins to beat the menservants and maidservants, and to eat and drink and get drunk.46sal die heer van daardie slaaf kom op 'n dag wanneer hy dit nie verwag nie en in 'n uur wat hy nie weet nie, en hy sal hom in twee kap en sy deel by die ontroues sit.aOf: die ongelowiges.ἥξει ὁ κύριος τοῦ δούλου ἐκείνου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ οὐ προσδοκᾷ καὶ ἐν ὥρᾳ ᾗ οὐ γινώσκει, καὶ διχοτομήσει αὐτὸν καὶ τὸ μέρος αὐτοῦ μετὰ τῶν ἀπίστων θήσει.The master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not anticipate. Then he will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.47Maar daardie slaaf wat die wil van sy heer geken het en nie voorberei het of volgens sy wil gedoen het nie, sal met baie slae geslaan word.ἐκεῖνος δὲ ὁ δοῦλος ὁ γνοὺς τὸ θέλημα τοῦ κυρίου ⸀αὐτοῦ καὶ μὴ ἑτοιμάσας ⸀ἢ ποιήσας πρὸς τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ δαρήσεται πολλάς·That servant who knows his master’s will but does not get ready or follow his instructions will be beaten with many blows.48Maar hy wat dit nie geken het nie, en tog dinge gedoen het wat slae werd is, sal met min slae geslaan word. En van elkeen aan wie baie gegee is, sal baie geëis word, en van hom aan wie hulle baie toevertrou het, sal hulle méér vra.ὁ δὲ μὴ γνοὺς ποιήσας δὲ ἄξια πληγῶν δαρήσεται ὀλίγας. παντὶ δὲ ᾧ ἐδόθη πολύ, πολὺ ζητηθήσεται παρʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ᾧ παρέθεντο πολύ, περισσότερον αἰτήσουσιν αὐτόν.But the one who unknowingly does things worthy of punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from him who has been entrusted with much, even more will be demanded.
49Ek het gekom om vuur op die aarde te werp, en hoe wens Ek dat dit reeds aangesteek was!aOf: en wat wil Ek, as dit reeds aangesteek is?Πῦρ ἦλθον βαλεῖν ⸀ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν, καὶ τί θέλω εἰ ἤδη ἀνήφθη;I have come to ignite a fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!50Maar Ek het 'n doop om mee gedoop te word, en hoe benoud is Ek totdat dit volbring is!βάπτισμα δὲ ἔχω βαπτισθῆναι, καὶ πῶς συνέχομαι ἕως ⸀ὅτου τελεσθῇ.But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!51Dink julle dat Ek gekom het om vrede op die aarde te gee? Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but division.52Want van nou af sal vyf in een huis verdeeld wees, drie teen twee en twee teen drie;ἔσονται γὰρ ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν πέντε ἐν ⸂ἑνὶ οἴκῳ⸃ διαμεμερισμένοι, τρεῖς ἐπὶ δυσὶν καὶ δύο ἐπὶ τρισίν,From now on, five in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.53hulle sal verdeeld wees: vader teen seun en seun teen vader, moeder teen dogter en dogter teen die moeder, skoonmoeder teen haar skoondogter en skoondogter teen die skoonmoeder.”⸀διαμερισθήσονται πατὴρ ἐπὶ υἱῷ καὶ υἱὸς ἐπὶ πατρί, μήτηρ ⸀ἐπὶ ⸀θυγατέρα καὶ θυγάτηρ ἐπὶ ⸂τὴν μητέρα⸃, πενθερὰ ἐπὶ τὴν νύμφην αὐτῆς καὶ νύμφη ἐπὶ τὴν ⸀πενθεράν.They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law. ”
54En Hy het ook vir die skares gesê: “Wanneer julle 'n wolk in die weste sien opkom, sê julle dadelik: ‘Reën kom,’ en dit gebeur so;Ἔλεγεν δὲ καὶ τοῖς ὄχλοις· Ὅταν ⸀ἴδητε νεφέλην ἀνατέλλουσαν ⸀ἐπὶ δυσμῶν, εὐθέως λέγετε ⸀ὅτι Ὄμβρος ἔρχεται, καὶ γίνεται οὕτως·Then Jesus said to the crowds, “As soon as you see a cloud rising in the west, you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and that is what happens.55en wanneer julle die suidewind sien waai, sê julle: ‘Daar sal hitte wees,’ en dit gebeur.καὶ ὅταν νότον πνέοντα, λέγετε ὅτι Καύσων ἔσται, καὶ γίνεται.And when the south wind blows, you say, ‘It will be hot,’ and it is.56Huigelaars, die gesig van die aarde en van die hemel weet julle te beoordeel, maar hoe is dit dat julle nie weet om hierdie tyd te beoordeel nie?ὑποκριταί, τὸ πρόσωπον τῆς γῆς καὶ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ οἴδατε δοκιμάζειν, τὸν ⸂δὲ καιρὸν⸃ τοῦτον πῶς ⸂οὐκ οἴδατε δοκιμάζειν⸃;You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and sky. Why don’t you know how to interpret the present time?57En waarom oordeel julle ook nie uit julleself wat regverdig is nie?Τί δὲ καὶ ἀφʼ ἑαυτῶν οὐ κρίνετε τὸ δίκαιον;And why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?58Want terwyl jy met jou teenparty na die owerheid gaan, doen op die pad moeite om van hom los te kom, sodat hy jou nie voor die regter sleep nie, en die regter jou aan die geregsdienaar oorlewer, en die geregsdienaar jou in die gevangenis gooi.aLetterlik: gee werk om van hom los te kom.ὡς γὰρ ὑπάγεις μετὰ τοῦ ἀντιδίκου σου ἐπʼ ἄρχοντα, ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ δὸς ἐργασίαν ἀπηλλάχθαι ἀπʼ αὐτοῦ, μήποτε κατασύρῃ σε πρὸς τὸν κριτήν, καὶ ὁ κριτής σε ⸀παραδώσει τῷ πράκτορι, καὶ ὁ πράκτωρ σε ⸀βαλεῖ εἰς φυλακήν.Make every effort to reconcile with your adversary while you are on your way to the magistrate. Otherwise, he may drag you off to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and the officer may throw you into prison.59Ek sê vir jou, jy sal beslis nie daarvandaan uitkom totdat jy ook die laaste lepton betaal het nie.”aOngeveer 'n 128ste deel van 'n dagloon.λέγω σοι, οὐ μὴ ἐξέλθῃς ἐκεῖθεν ἕως ⸂καὶ τὸ⸃ ἔσχατον λεπτὸν ἀποδῷς.I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the very last penny. ”
