1Die HERE het vir Moses gesê: “Sê vir die priesters, die seuns van Aaron, en sê vir hulle: ‘Vir 'n dooie mag hy hom nie onrein maak onder sy volk nie,aLetterlik: Vir 'n siel.וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֱמֹ֥ר אֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים בְּנֵ֣י אַהֲרֹ֑ן וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם לְנֶ֥פֶשׁ לֹֽא־יִטַּמָּ֖א בְּעַמָּֽיו׃Then the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to Aaron’s sons, the priests, and tell them that a priest is not to defile himself for a dead person among his people,2behalwe vir sy bloedverwant wat na aan hom is: vir sy moeder en vir sy vader en vir sy seun en vir sy dogter en vir sy broer,aLetterlik: sy vlees.כִּ֚י אִם־לִשְׁאֵר֔וֹ הַקָּרֹ֖ב אֵלָ֑יו לְאִמּ֣וֹ וּלְאָבִ֔יו וְלִבְנ֥וֹ וּלְבִתּ֖וֹ וּלְאָחִֽיו׃except for his immediate family—his mother, father, son, daughter, or brother,3en vir sy suster, die maagd wat na aan hom is, wat nie aan ’n man behoort het nie; vir haar mag hy hom verontreinig.aLetterlik: wat nie aan ’n man was nie.וְלַאֲחֹת֤וֹ הַבְּתוּלָה֙ הַקְּרוֹבָ֣ה אֵלָ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־הָיְתָ֖ה לְאִ֑ישׁ לָ֖הּ יִטַּמָּֽא׃or his unmarried sister who is near to him, since she has no husband.4Hy mag hom nie as ’n eggenoot onder sy volk verontreinig om hom te ontheilig nie.aOf: as ’n leier onder sy volk.לֹ֥א יִטַּמָּ֖א בַּ֣עַל בְּעַמָּ֑יו לְהֵ֖חַלּֽוֹ׃He is not to defile himself for those related to him by marriage, and so profane himself.5Hulle mag nie ’n kaal plek op hul kop maak nie, en die rand van hul baard mag hulle nie afskeer nie, en in hul vlees mag hulle nie ’n insnyding sny nie.לֹֽא־קָרְחָה֙ בְּרֹאשָׁ֔ם וּפְאַ֥ת זְקָנָ֖ם לֹ֣א יְגַלֵּ֑חוּ וּבִ֨בְשָׂרָ֔ם לֹ֥א יִשְׂרְט֖וּ שָׂרָֽטֶת׃Priests must not make bald spots on their heads, shave off the edges of their beards, or make cuts in their bodies.6Heilig moet hulle vir hul God wees en hulle mag die naam van hul God nie ontheilig nie, want die vuuroffers van die HERE, die brood van hul God, offer hulle; en hulle moet heilig wees.קְדֹשִׁ֤ים יִהְיוּ֙ לֵאלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם וְלֹ֣א יְחַלְּל֔וּ שֵׁ֖ם אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם כִּי֩ אֶת־אִשֵּׁ֨י יְהוָ֜ה לֶ֧חֶם אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֛ם הֵ֥ם מַקְרִיבִ֖ם וְהָ֥יוּ קֹֽדֶשׁ׃They must be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God. Because they present to the LORD the food offerings, the food of their God, they must be holy.7'n Vrou wat hoereer en ontheilig is, mag hulle nie neem nie, en 'n vrou wat van haar man geskei is, mag hulle nie neem nie, want hy is heilig vir sy God.אִשָּׁ֨ה זֹנָ֤ה וַחֲלָלָה֙ לֹ֣א יִקָּ֔חוּ וְאִשָּׁ֛ה גְּרוּשָׁ֥ה מֵאִישָׁ֖הּ לֹ֣א יִקָּ֑חוּ כִּֽי־קָדֹ֥שׁ ה֖וּא לֵאלֹהָֽיו׃A priest must not marry a woman defiled by prostitution or divorced by her husband, for the priest is holy to his God.8En jy moet hom heilig, want die brood van jou God offer hy; heilig moet hy vir jou wees, want heilig is Ek, die HERE, wat julle heilig.וְקִדַּשְׁתּ֔וֹ כִּֽי־אֶת־לֶ֥חֶם אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ ה֣וּא מַקְרִ֑יב קָדֹשׁ֙ יִֽהְיֶה־לָּ֔ךְ כִּ֣י קָד֔וֹשׁ אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה מְקַדִּשְׁכֶֽם׃You are to regard him as holy, since he presents the food of your God. He shall be holy to you, because I the LORD am holy—I who set you apart.9En die dogter van 'n man wat priester is, as sy haarself ontheilig deur te hoereer, ontheilig sy haar vader; met vuur moet sy verbrand word.וּבַת֙ אִ֣ישׁ כֹּהֵ֔ן כִּ֥י תֵחֵ֖ל לִזְנ֑וֹת אֶת־אָבִ֨יהָ֙ הִ֣יא מְחַלֶּ֔לֶת בָּאֵ֖שׁ תִּשָּׂרֵֽף׃ סIf a priest’s daughter defiles herself by prostituting herself, she profanes her father; she must be burned in the fire.
10En die groot priester uit sy broers, op wie se kop die salfolie uitgegiet is en wie se hand gevul is om die klere aan te trek, sy kop mag hy nie laat loshang nie en sy klere mag hy nie skeur nie.aLetterlik: Wie se hand gevul is.bOf: Sy kop mag hy nie ontbloot nie.וְהַכֹּהֵן֩ הַגָּד֨וֹל מֵאֶחָ֜יו אֲֽשֶׁר־יוּצַ֥ק עַל־רֹאשׁ֣וֹ׀ שֶׁ֤מֶן הַמִּשְׁחָה֙ וּמִלֵּ֣א אֶת־יָד֔וֹ לִלְבֹּ֖שׁ אֶת־הַבְּגָדִ֑ים אֶת־רֹאשׁוֹ֙ לֹ֣א יִפְרָ֔ע וּבְגָדָ֖יו לֹ֥א יִפְרֹֽם׃The priest who is highest among his brothers, who has had the anointing oil poured on his head and has been ordained to wear the priestly garments, must not let his hair hang loose or tear his garments.11En by geen dooie persone mag hy ingaan nie; vir sy vader en vir sy moeder mag hy hom nie onrein maak nie.וְעַ֛ל כָּל־נַפְשֹׁ֥ת מֵ֖ת לֹ֣א יָבֹ֑א לְאָבִ֥יו וּלְאִמּ֖וֹ לֹ֥א יִטַּמָּֽא׃He must not go near any dead body; he must not defile himself, even for his father or mother.12En uit die heiligdom mag hy nie uitgaan nie en hy mag die heiligdom van sy God nie ontheilig nie, want die wyding van die salfolie van sy God is op hom. Ek is die HERE.aOf: die kroon van die salfolie.וּמִן־הַמִּקְדָּשׁ֙ לֹ֣א יֵצֵ֔א וְלֹ֣א יְחַלֵּ֔ל אֵ֖ת מִקְדַּ֣שׁ אֱלֹהָ֑יו כִּ֡י נֵ֠זֶר שֶׁ֣מֶן מִשְׁחַ֧ת אֱלֹהָ֛יו עָלָ֖יו אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃He must not leave or desecrate the sanctuary of his God, for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is on him. I am the LORD.13En hy moet ’n vrou in haar maagdelikheid neem.וְה֕וּא אִשָּׁ֥ה בִבְתוּלֶ֖יהָ יִקָּֽח׃The woman he marries must be a virgin.14’n Weduwee, ’n geskeide vrou, ’n ontheiligde vrou of ’n hoer, dié mag hy nie neem nie, maar ’n maagd uit sy volk moet hy as vrou neem.aOf: ’n vrou wat deur hoerery ontheilig is.אַלְמָנָ֤ה וּגְרוּשָׁה֙ וַחֲלָלָ֣ה זֹנָ֔ה אֶת־אֵ֖לֶּה לֹ֣א יִקָּ֑ח כִּ֛י אִם־בְּתוּלָ֥ה מֵעַמָּ֖יו יִקַּ֥ח אִשָּֽׁה׃He is not to marry a widow, a divorced woman, or one defiled by prostitution. He is to marry a virgin from his own people,15En hy mag sy nageslag onder sy volk nie ontheilig nie, want Ek is die HERE wat hom heilig.”וְלֹֽא־יְחַלֵּ֥ל זַרְע֖וֹ בְּעַמָּ֑יו כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה מְקַדְּשֽׁוֹ׃ פso that he does not defile his offspring among his people, for I am the LORD who sanctifies him.”
16En die HERE het met Moses gepraat en gesê:וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃Then the LORD said to Moses,17“Praat met Aaron en sê: ‘'n Man van jou saad deur hulle geslagte, by wie daar 'n gebrek is, mag nie nader kom om die brood van sy God nader te bring nie.דַּבֵּ֥ר אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֖ן לֵאמֹ֑ר אִ֣ישׁ מִֽזַּרְעֲךָ֞ לְדֹרֹתָ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִהְיֶ֥ה בוֹ֙ מ֔וּם לֹ֣א יִקְרַ֔ב לְהַקְרִ֖יב לֶ֥חֶם אֱלֹהָֽיו׃“Say to Aaron, ‘For the generations to come, none of your descendants who has a physical defect may approach to offer the food of his God.18Want geen man by wie daar 'n gebrek is, mag nader kom nie: 'n man wat blind is of kreupel, of een met 'n gesplete neus, of een met 'n te lang ledemaat,aHebreeus onduidelik.כִּ֥י כָל־אִ֛ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־בּ֥וֹ מ֖וּם לֹ֣א יִקְרָ֑ב אִ֤ישׁ עִוֵּר֙ א֣וֹ פִסֵּ֔חַ א֥וֹ חָרֻ֖ם א֥וֹ שָׂרֽוּעַ׃No man who has any defect may approach—no man who is blind, lame, disfigured, or deformed;19of 'n man by wie daar 'n breuk van die voet of 'n breuk van die hand is,א֣וֹ אִ֔ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יִהְיֶ֥ה ב֖וֹ שֶׁ֣בֶר רָ֑גֶל א֖וֹ שֶׁ֥בֶר יָֽד׃no man who has a broken foot or hand,20of 'n boggelrug, of 'n dwerg, of een met 'n vlek in sy oog, of met skurfte, of met veluitslag, of een met 'n verpletterde testikel.aHebreeus onduidelik.אֽוֹ־גִבֵּ֣ן אוֹ־דַ֔ק א֖וֹ תְּבַלֻּ֣ל בְּעֵינ֑וֹ א֤וֹ גָרָב֙ א֣וֹ יַלֶּ֔פֶת א֖וֹ מְר֥וֹחַ אָֽשֶׁךְ׃or who is a hunchback or dwarf, or who has an eye defect, a festering rash, scabs, or a crushed testicle.21Geen man van die saad van Aaron, die priester, by wie daar 'n gebrek is, mag nader tree om die vuuroffers van die HERE nader te bring nie. 'n Gebrek is aan hom: die brood van sy God mag hy nie nader tree om nader te bring nie.כָּל־אִ֞ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־בּ֣וֹ מ֗וּם מִזֶּ֨רַע֙ אַהֲרֹ֣ן הַכֹּהֵ֔ן לֹ֣א יִגַּ֔שׁ לְהַקְרִ֖יב אֶת־אִשֵּׁ֣י יְהוָ֑ה מ֣וּם בּ֔וֹ אֵ֚ת לֶ֣חֶם אֱלֹהָ֔יו לֹ֥א יִגַּ֖שׁ לְהַקְרִֽיב׃No descendant of Aaron the priest who has a defect shall approach to present the food offerings to the LORD. Since he has a defect, he is not to come near to offer the food of his God.22Die brood van sy God, van die allerheiligste dinge en van die heilige dinge, mag hy eet.לֶ֣חֶם אֱלֹהָ֔יו מִקָּדְשֵׁ֖י הַקֳּדָשִׁ֑ים וּמִן־הַקֳּדָשִׁ֖ים יֹאכֵֽל׃He may eat the most holy food of his God as well as the holy food,23Maar na die voorhangsel mag hy nie gaan nie en na die altaar mag hy nie nader tree nie, want ’n gebrek is in hom; en hy mag My heiligdomme nie ontheilig nie, want Ek is die HERE wat hulle heilig.”אַ֣ךְ אֶל־הַפָּרֹ֜כֶת לֹ֣א יָבֹ֗א וְאֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֛חַ לֹ֥א יִגַּ֖שׁ כִּֽי־מ֣וּם בּ֑וֹ וְלֹ֤א יְחַלֵּל֙ אֶת־מִקְדָּשַׁ֔י כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה מְקַדְּשָֽׁם׃but because he has a defect, he must not go near the veil or approach the altar, so as not to desecrate My sanctuaries. For I am the LORD who sanctifies them.’”24En Moses het met Aäron en met sy seuns en met al die Israeliete gepraat.וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֖ן וְאֶל־בָּנָ֑יו וְאֶֽל־כָּל־בְּנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פMoses told this to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites.
