1En die HERE het met Moses gepraat ná die dood van die twee seuns van Aäron, toe hulle voor die aangesig van die HERE nader gekom het en gesterf het.וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה אַחֲרֵ֣י מ֔וֹת שְׁנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י אַהֲרֹ֑ן בְּקָרְבָתָ֥ם לִפְנֵי־יְהוָ֖ה וַיָּמֻֽתוּ׃Now the LORD spoke to Moses after the death of two of Aaron’s sons when they approached the presence of the LORD. 2En die HERE het vir Moses gesê: “Praat met Aäron, jou broer, dat hy nie te alle tye in die heiligdom ingaan nie, binne die voorhangsel, voor die versoendeksel wat op die ark is, sodat hy nie sterf nie; want in die wolk sal Ek op die versoendeksel verskyn.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֗ה דַּבֵּר֮ אֶל־אַהֲרֹ֣ן אָחִיךָ֒ וְאַל־יָבֹ֤א בְכָל־עֵת֙ אֶל־הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ מִבֵּ֖ית לַפָּרֹ֑כֶת אֶל־פְּנֵ֨י הַכַּפֹּ֜רֶת אֲשֶׁ֤ר עַל־הָאָרֹן֙ וְלֹ֣א יָמ֔וּת כִּ֚י בֶּֽעָנָ֔ן אֵרָאֶ֖ה עַל־הַכַּפֹּֽרֶת׃And the LORD said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron not to enter freely into the Most Holy Place behind the veil in front of the mercy seat on the ark, or else he will die, because I appear in the cloud above the mercy seat. 3Hiermee moet Aäron in die heiligdom ingaan: met 'n jong bul as sondoffer en 'n ram as brandoffer.

בְּזֹ֛את יָבֹ֥א אַהֲרֹ֖ן אֶל־הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ בְּפַ֧ר בֶּן־בָּקָ֛ר לְחַטָּ֖את וְאַ֥יִל לְעֹלָֽה׃This is how Aaron is to enter the Holy Place: with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. 4'n Heilige linnerok moet hy aantrek, en 'n linnebroek moet aan sy liggaam wees, en met 'n linnegordel moet hy hom omgord, en 'n linnetulband moet hy opsit. He must tie a linen sash around him and put on the linen turban. These are holy garments, and he must bathe himself with water before he wears them. 5En van die vergadering van die Israeliete moet hy twee bokke as sondoffer neem, en een ram as brandoffer.וּמֵאֵ֗ת עֲדַת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל יִקַּ֛ח שְׁנֵֽי־שְׂעִירֵ֥י עִזִּ֖ים לְחַטָּ֑את וְאַ֥יִל אֶחָ֖ד לְעֹלָֽה׃And he shall take from the congregation of Israel two male goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering. 6En Aäron moet die bul van die sondoffer wat vir hom is, nader bring en versoening doen vir homself en vir sy huis.וְהִקְרִ֧יב אַהֲרֹ֛ן אֶת־פַּ֥ר הַחַטָּ֖את אֲשֶׁר־ל֑וֹ וְכִפֶּ֥ר בַּעֲד֖וֹ וּבְעַ֥ד בֵּיתֽוֹ׃Aaron is to present the bull for his sin offering and make atonement for himself and his household. 7En hy moet die twee bokke neem en hulle voor die aangesig van die HERE stel, by die ingang van die tent van samekoms.וְלָקַ֖ח אֶת־שְׁנֵ֣י הַשְּׂעִירִ֑ם וְהֶעֱמִ֤יד אֹתָם֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה פֶּ֖תַח אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃Then he shall take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. 8En Aäron moet oor die twee bokke lote werp: een lot vir die HERE en een lot vir Asasel.

וְנָתַ֧ן אַהֲרֹ֛ן עַל־שְׁנֵ֥י הַשְּׂעִירִ֖ם גּוֹרָל֑וֹת גּוֹרָ֤ל אֶחָד֙ לַיהוָ֔ה וְגוֹרָ֥ל אֶחָ֖ד לַעֲזָאזֵֽל׃After Aaron casts lots for the two goats, one for the LORD and the other for the scapegoat, 9Aäron moet die bok nader bring waarop die lot vir die HERE opgekom het, en dit as sondoffer maak.וְהִקְרִ֤יב אַהֲרֹן֙ אֶת־הַשָּׂעִ֔יר אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָלָ֥ה עָלָ֛יו הַגּוֹרָ֖ל לַיהוָ֑ה וְעָשָׂ֖הוּ חַטָּֽאת׃he shall present the goat chosen by lot for the LORD and sacrifice it as a sin offering. 10Maar die bok waarop die lot vir Asasel geval het, moet lewend voor die aangesig van die HERE gestel word om daaroor versoening te doen, om dit vir Asasel na die woestyn weg te stuur.וְהַשָּׂעִ֗יר אֲשֶׁר֩ עָלָ֨ה עָלָ֤יו הַגּוֹרָל֙ לַעֲזָאזֵ֔ל יָֽעֳמַד־חַ֛י לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה לְכַפֵּ֣ר עָלָ֑יו לְשַׁלַּ֥ח אֹת֛וֹ לַעֲזָאזֵ֖ל הַמִּדְבָּֽרָה׃But the goat chosen by lot as the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the LORD to make atonement by sending it into the wilderness as the scapegoat.

11En Aäron moet die bul van die sondoffer wat vir hom is, nader bring en versoening doen vir homself en vir sy huis, en hy moet die bul van die sondoffer wat vir hom is, slag.וְהִקְרִ֨יב אַהֲרֹ֜ן אֶת־פַּ֤ר הַֽחַטָּאת֙ אֲשֶׁר־ל֔וֹ וְכִפֶּ֥ר בַּֽעֲד֖וֹ וּבְעַ֣ד בֵּית֑וֹ וְשָׁחַ֛ט אֶת־פַּ֥ר הַֽחַטָּ֖את אֲשֶׁר־לֽוֹ׃When Aaron presents the bull for his sin offering and makes atonement for himself and his household, he is to slaughter the bull for his own sin offering. 12En hy moet die vuurpan vol vuurkole van die altaar af, van voor die aangesig van die HERE, neem en sy hande vol fyn reukwerk van speserye, en dit binne die voorhangsel inbring.וְלָקַ֣ח מְלֹֽא־הַ֠מַּחְתָּה גַּֽחֲלֵי־אֵ֞שׁ מֵעַ֤ל הַמִּזְבֵּ֨חַ֙ מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה וּמְלֹ֣א חָפְנָ֔יו קְטֹ֥רֶת סַמִּ֖ים דַּקָּ֑ה וְהֵבִ֖יא מִבֵּ֥ית לַפָּרֹֽכֶת׃Then he must take a censer full of burning coals from the altar before the LORD, and two handfuls of finely ground fragrant incense, and take them inside the veil. 13En hy moet die reukwerk op die vuur voor die aangesig van die HERE sit, sodat die wolk van die reukwerk die versoendeksel wat op die getuienis is, bedek en hy nie sterf nie.וְנָתַ֧ן אֶֽת־הַקְּטֹ֛רֶת עַל־הָאֵ֖שׁ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְכִסָּ֣ה׀ עֲנַ֣ן הַקְּטֹ֗רֶת אֶת־הַכַּפֹּ֛רֶת אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל־הָעֵד֖וּת וְלֹ֥א יָמֽוּת׃He is to put the incense on the fire before the LORD, and the cloud of incense will cover the mercy seat above the Testimony, so that he will not die. 14Hy moet van die bul se bloed neem en dit met sy vinger sprinkel op die voorkant van die versoendeksel, na die ooste; en voor die versoendeksel moet hy sewe keer van die bloed met sy vinger sprinkel.וְלָקַח֙ מִדַּ֣ם הַפָּ֔ר וְהִזָּ֧ה בְאֶצְבָּע֛וֹ עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַכַּפֹּ֖רֶת קֵ֑דְמָה וְלִפְנֵ֣י הַכַּפֹּ֗רֶת יַזֶּ֧ה שֶֽׁבַע־פְּעָמִ֛ים מִן־הַדָּ֖ם בְּאֶצְבָּעֽוֹ׃And he is to take some of the bull’s blood and sprinkle it with his finger on the east side of the mercy seat; then he shall sprinkle some of it with his finger seven times before the mercy seat. 15Dan moet hy die bok van die sondoffer wat vir die volk is, slag en sy bloed binne die voorhangsel inbring, en met sy bloed doen soos hy met die bloed van die bul gedoen het, en dit op die versoendeksel en voor die versoendeksel sprinkel.וְשָׁחַ֞ט אֶת־שְׂעִ֤יר הַֽחַטָּאת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָעָ֔ם וְהֵבִיא֙ אֶת־דָּמ֔וֹ אֶל־מִבֵּ֖ית לַפָּרֹ֑כֶת וְעָשָׂ֣ה אֶת־דָּמ֗וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשָׂה֙ לְדַ֣ם הַפָּ֔ר וְהִזָּ֥ה אֹת֛וֹ עַל־הַכַּפֹּ֖רֶת וְלִפְנֵ֥י הַכַּפֹּֽרֶת׃Aaron shall then slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the people and bring its blood behind the veil, and with its blood he must do as he did with the bull’s blood: He is to sprinkle it against the mercy seat and in front of it. 16So moet hy versoening doen vir die heiligdom vanweë die onreinhede van die Israeliete en vanweë hulle oortredinge, volgens al hulle sondes; en so moet hy doen vir die tent van samekoms wat by hulle woon, te midde van hulle onreinhede.וְכִפֶּ֣ר עַל־הַקֹּ֗דֶשׁ מִטֻּמְאֹת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וּמִפִּשְׁעֵיהֶ֖ם לְכָל־חַטֹּאתָ֑ם וְכֵ֤ן יַעֲשֶׂה֙ לְאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד הַשֹּׁכֵ֣ן אִתָּ֔ם בְּת֖וֹךְ טֻמְאֹתָֽם׃So he shall make atonement for the Most Holy Place because of the impurities and rebellious acts of the Israelites in regard to all their sins. He is to do the same for the Tent of Meeting which abides among them in the midst of their impurities. 17En geen mens mag in die tent van samekoms wees wanneer hy ingaan om in die heiligdom versoening te doen, totdat hy uitkom nie; en hy moet versoening doen vir homself en vir sy huis en vir die hele vergadering van Israel.וְכָל־אָדָ֞ם לֹא־יִהְיֶ֣ה׀ בְּאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֗ד בְּבֹא֛וֹ לְכַפֵּ֥ר בַּקֹּ֖דֶשׁ עַד־צֵאת֑וֹ וְכִפֶּ֤ר בַּעֲדוֹ֙ וּבְעַ֣ד בֵּית֔וֹ וּבְעַ֖ד כָּל־קְהַ֥ל יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃No one may be in the Tent of Meeting from the time Aaron goes in to make atonement in the Most Holy Place until he leaves, after he has made atonement for himself, his household, and the whole assembly of Israel. 18Dan moet hy uitgaan na die altaar wat voor die aangesig van die HERE is en daaroor versoening doen; hy moet van die bul se bloed en van die bok se bloed neem en dit rondom op die horings van die altaar sit.וְיָצָ֗א אֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֛חַ אֲשֶׁ֥ר לִפְנֵֽי־יְהוָ֖ה וְכִפֶּ֣ר עָלָ֑יו וְלָקַ֞ח מִדַּ֤ם הַפָּר֙ וּמִדַּ֣ם הַשָּׂעִ֔יר וְנָתַ֛ן עַל־קַרְנ֥וֹת הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ סָבִֽיב׃Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it. He is to take some of the bull’s blood and some of the goat’s blood and put it on all the horns of the altar. 19En hy moet met sy vinger sewe keer van die bloed daarop sprinkel en dit reinig en heilig van die onreinhede van die Israeliete.וְהִזָּ֨ה עָלָ֧יו מִן־הַדָּ֛ם בְּאֶצְבָּע֖וֹ שֶׁ֣בַע פְּעָמִ֑ים וְטִהֲר֣וֹ וְקִדְּשׁ֔וֹ מִטֻּמְאֹ֖ת בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃He is to sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times to cleanse it and consecrate it from the uncleanness of the Israelites.

20En wanneer hy klaar is met die versoening van die heiligdom en die tent van samekoms en die altaar, moet hy die lewende bok nader bring.וְכִלָּה֙ מִכַּפֵּ֣ר אֶת־הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ וְאֶת־אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵ֖ד וְאֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וְהִקְרִ֖יב אֶת־הַשָּׂעִ֥יר הֶחָֽי׃When Aaron has finished purifying the Most Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he is to bring forward the live goat. 21En Aäron moet sy twee hande op die kop van die lewende bok lê en oor hom al die ongeregtighede van die Israeliete en al hulle oortredinge, volgens al hulle sondes, bely; en hy moet dit op die kop van die bok lê en dit deur die hand van 'n man wat daarvoor gereed staan, na die woestyn wegstuur.וְסָמַ֨ךְ אַהֲרֹ֜ן אֶת־שְׁתֵּ֣י עַ֨ל רֹ֣אשׁ הַשָּׂעִיר֮ הַחַי֒ וְהִתְוַדָּ֣ה עָלָ֗יו אֶת־כָּל־עֲוֺנֹת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאֶת־כָּל־פִּשְׁעֵיהֶ֖ם לְכָל־חַטֹּאתָ֑ם וְנָתַ֤ן אֹתָם֙ עַל־רֹ֣אשׁ הַשָּׂעִ֔יר וְשִׁלַּ֛ח בְּיַד־אִ֥ישׁ עִתִּ֖י הַמִּדְבָּֽרָה׃Then he is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the iniquities and rebellious acts of the Israelites in regard to all their sins. He is to put them on the goat’s head and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man appointed for the task. 22Die bok moet al hulle ongeregtighede op hom dra na 'n afgesonderde land; en hy moet die bok in die woestyn wegstuur.

וְנָשָׂ֨א הַשָּׂעִ֥יר עָלָ֛יו אֶת־כָּל־עֲוֺנֹתָ֖ם אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ גְּזֵרָ֑ה וְשִׁלַּ֥ח אֶת־הַשָּׂעִ֖יר בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃The goat will carry on itself all their iniquities into a solitary place, and the man will release it into the wilderness. 23Aäron moet in die tent van samekoms ingaan en die linne klere uittrek wat hy aangetrek het toe hy in die heiligdom ingegaan het, en hulle daar laat lê.וּבָ֤א אַהֲרֹן֙ אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד וּפָשַׁט֙ אֶת־בִּגְדֵ֣י הַבָּ֔ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר לָבַ֖שׁ בְּבֹא֣וֹ אֶל־הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ וְהִנִּיחָ֖ם שָֽׁם׃Then Aaron is to enter the Tent of Meeting, take off the linen garments he put on before entering the Most Holy Place, and leave them there. 24Hy moet sy liggaam in 'n heilige plek met water bad en sy klere aantrek; dan moet hy uitgaan en sy brandoffer en die brandoffer van die volk maak en versoening doen vir homself en vir die volk.וְרָחַ֨ץ אֶת־בְּשָׂר֤וֹ בַמַּ֨יִם֙ בְּמָק֣וֹם קָד֔וֹשׁ וְלָבַ֖שׁ אֶת־בְּגָדָ֑יו וְיָצָ֗א וְעָשָׂ֤ה אֶת־עֹֽלָתוֹ֙ וְאֶת־עֹלַ֣ת הָעָ֔ם וְכִפֶּ֥ר בַּעֲד֖וֹ וּבְעַ֥ד הָעָֽם׃He is to bathe himself with water in a holy place and put on his own clothes. Then he must go out and sacrifice his burnt offering and the people’s burnt offering to make atonement for himself and for the people. 25En die vet van die sondoffer moet hy op die altaar in rook laat opgaan.וְאֵ֛ת חֵ֥לֶב הַֽחַטָּ֖את יַקְטִ֥יר הַמִּזְבֵּֽחָה׃He is also to burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar. 26Hy wat die bok na Asasel wegstuur, moet sy klere was en sy liggaam met water bad; en daarna mag hy in die kamp kom.וְהַֽמְשַׁלֵּ֤חַ אֶת־הַשָּׂעִיר֙ לַֽעֲזָאזֵ֔ל יְכַבֵּ֣ס בְּגָדָ֔יו וְרָחַ֥ץ אֶת־בְּשָׂר֖וֹ בַּמָּ֑יִם וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵ֖ן יָב֥וֹא אֶל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃The man who released the goat as the scapegoat must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward he may reenter the camp. 27En die bul van die sondoffer en die bok van die sondoffer, waarvan die bloed ingebring is om in die heiligdom versoening te doen, moet hy buite die laer uitbring; en hulle moet hul velle en hul vleis en hul mis met vuur verbrand.וְאֵת֩ פַּ֨ר הַֽחַטָּ֜את וְאֵ֣ת׀ שְׂעִ֣יר הַֽחַטָּ֗את אֲשֶׁ֨ר הוּבָ֤א אֶת־דָּמָם֙ לְכַפֵּ֣ר בַּקֹּ֔דֶשׁ יוֹצִ֖יא אֶל־מִח֣וּץ לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה וְשָׂרְפ֣וּ בָאֵ֔שׁ אֶת־עֹרֹתָ֥ם וְאֶת־בְּשָׂרָ֖ם וְאֶת־פִּרְשָֽׁם׃The bull for the sin offering and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought into the Most Holy Place to make atonement, must be taken outside the camp; and their hides, flesh, and dung must be burned up. 28Hy wat hulle verbrand, moet sy klere was en sy liggaam met water bad; en daarna mag hy in die kamp kom.וְהַשֹּׂרֵ֣ף אֹתָ֔ם יְכַבֵּ֣ס בְּגָדָ֔יו וְרָחַ֥ץ אֶת־בְּשָׂר֖וֹ בַּמָּ֑יִם וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵ֖ן יָב֥וֹא אֶל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃The one who burns them must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water, and afterward he may reenter the camp.

29Dit moet vir julle 'n ewige insetting wees: in die sewende maand, op die tiende van die maand, moet julle julle siele verneder, en julle mag geen werk doen nie, nie die ingeborene nie en nie die vreemdeling wat in julle midde vertoef nie.

וְהָיְתָ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם לְחֻקַּ֣ת עוֹלָ֑ם בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַ֠שְּׁבִיעִי בֶּֽעָשׂ֨וֹר לַחֹ֜דֶשׁ תְּעַנּ֣וּ אֶת־נַפְשֹֽׁתֵיכֶ֗ם וְכָל־מְלָאכָה֙ לֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֔וּ הָֽאֶזְרָ֔ח וְהַגֵּ֖ר הַגָּ֥ר בְּתוֹכְכֶֽם׃This is to be a permanent statute for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month, you shall humble yourselves and not do any work—whether the native or the foreigner who resides among you— 30Want op hierdie dag sal hy vir julle versoening doen om julle te reinig; van al julle sondes sal julle voor die aangesig van die HERE rein wees.כִּֽי־בַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֛ה יְכַפֵּ֥ר עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם לְטַהֵ֣ר אֶתְכֶ֑ם מִכֹּל֙ חַטֹּ֣אתֵיכֶ֔ם לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה תִּטְהָֽרוּ׃because on this day atonement will be made for you to cleanse you, and you will be clean from all your sins before the LORD. 31Dit is vir julle 'n sabbat van sabbatsrus, en julle moet julle siele verneder; 'n ewige insetting.שַׁבַּ֨ת שַׁבָּת֥וֹן הִיא֙ לָכֶ֔ם וְעִנִּיתֶ֖ם אֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶ֑ם חֻקַּ֖ת עוֹלָֽם׃It is a Sabbath of complete rest for you, that you may humble yourselves; it is a permanent statute. 32En die priester wat gesalf word en wat ingewy word om in die plek van sy vader as priester te dien, moet versoening doen; en hy moet die linneklere, die heilige klere, aantrek.

וְכִפֶּ֨ר הַכֹּהֵ֜ן אֲשֶׁר־יִמְשַׁ֣ח אֹת֗וֹ וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר יְמַלֵּא֙ אֶת־יָד֔וֹ לְכַהֵ֖ן תַּ֣חַת אָבִ֑יו וְלָבַ֛שׁ אֶת־בִּגְדֵ֥י הַבָּ֖ד בִּגְדֵ֥י הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃The priest who is anointed and ordained to succeed his father as high priest shall make atonement. He will put on the sacred linen garments 33En hy moet versoening doen vir die heilige heiligdom, en vir die tent van samekoms en vir die altaar moet hy versoening doen; en vir die priesters en vir die hele volk van die vergadering moet hy versoening doen.וְכִפֶּר֙ אֶת־מִקְדַּ֣שׁ הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ וְאֶת־אֹ֧הֶל מוֹעֵ֛ד וְאֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ יְכַפֵּ֑ר וְעַ֧ל הַכֹּהֲנִ֛ים וְעַל־כָּל־עַ֥ם הַקָּהָ֖ל יְכַפֵּֽר׃and make atonement for the Most Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, and for the priests and all the people of the assembly. 34En dit moet vir julle 'n ewige insetting wees om een keer in die jaar vir die Israeliete versoening te doen vanweë al hulle sondes.” En hy het gedoen soos die HERE Moses beveel het.וְהָֽיְתָה־זֹּ֨את לָכֶ֜ם לְחֻקַּ֣ת עוֹלָ֗ם לְכַפֵּ֞ר עַל־בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מִכָּל־חַטֹּאתָ֔ם אַחַ֖ת בַּשָּׁנָ֑ה וַיַּ֕עַשׂ כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃ פThis is to be a permanent statute for you, to make atonement once a year for the Israelites because of all their sins.” And all this was done as the LORD had commanded Moses.
