1En die woord van die HERE het tot Jehu, die seun van Hanani, gekom aangaande Baësa, en gesê:וַיְהִ֤י דְבַר־יְהוָה֙ אֶל־יֵה֣וּא בֶן־חֲנָ֔נִי עַל־בַּעְשָׁ֖א לֵאמֹֽר׃Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha, saying: 2“Omdat Ek jou uit die stof opgehef het en jou ’n vors oor My volk Israel gemaak het, en jy in die weg van Jerobeam gewandel het en My volk Israel laat sondig het om My met hulle sondes te terg,יַ֗עַן אֲשֶׁ֤ר הֲרִימֹתִ֨יךָ֙ מִן־הֶ֣עָפָ֔ר וָאֶתֶּנְךָ֣ נָגִ֔יד עַ֖ל עַמִּ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַתֵּ֣לֶךְ׀ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ יָרָבְעָ֗ם וַֽתַּחֲטִא֙ אֶת־עַמִּ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לְהַכְעִיסֵ֖נִי בְּחַטֹּאתָֽם׃“Even though I lifted you out of the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have caused My people Israel to sin and to provoke Me to anger by their sins. 3kyk, Ek gaan Baësa en sy huis skoon wegvee, en Ek sal jou huis maak soos die huis van Jerobeam, die seun van Nebat.

הִנְנִ֥י מַבְעִ֛יר אַחֲרֵ֥י בַעְשָׁ֖א וְאַחֲרֵ֣י בֵית֑וֹ וְנָֽתַתִּי֙ אֶת־בֵּ֣יתְךָ֔ כְּבֵ֖ית יָרָבְעָ֥ם בֶּן־נְבָֽט׃So now I will consume Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat: 4Wie van Baësa in die stad sterf, sal die honde eet, en wie van hom in die veld sterf, sal die voëls van die hemel eet.”הַמֵּ֤ת לְבַעְשָׁא֙ בָּעִ֔יר יֹֽאכְל֖וּ הַכְּלָבִ֑ים וְהַמֵּ֥ת לוֹ֙ בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה יֹאכְל֖וּ ע֥וֹף הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃Anyone belonging to Baasha who dies in the city will be eaten by dogs, and anyone who dies in the field will be eaten by the birds of the air.” 5En die res van die sake van Baësa en wat hy gedoen het en sy magtige dade, is dit nie geskrywe in die boek van die kronieke van die konings van Israel nie?

וְיֶ֨תֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י בַעְשָׁ֛א וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה וּגְבֽוּרָת֑וֹ הֲלֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃As for the rest of the acts of Baasha, along with his accomplishments and might, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? 6En Baesa het by sy vaders gaan lê en is in Tirsa begrawe; en Ela, sy seun, het in sy plek koning geword.וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב בַּעְשָׁא֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּתִרְצָ֑ה וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אֵלָ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃And Baasha rested with his fathers and was buried in Tirzah, and his son Elah reigned in his place. 7En ook deur die hand van die profeet Jehu, die seun van Hanani, het die woord van die HERE tot Baësa en tot sy huis gekom, oor al die kwaad wat hy in die oë van die HERE gedoen het om Hom met die werk van sy hande te terg, sodat hy soos die huis van Jerobeam was, en omdat hy dit verslaan het.

וְגַ֡ם בְּיַד־יֵה֨וּא בֶן־חֲנָ֜נִי הַנָּבִ֗יא דְּבַר־יְהוָ֡ה הָיָה֩ אֶל־בַּעְשָׁ֨א וְאֶל־בֵּית֜וֹ וְעַ֥ל כָּל־הָרָעָ֣ה׀ אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֣ה׀ בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֗ה לְהַכְעִיסוֹ֙ בְּמַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יָדָ֔יו לִהְי֖וֹת כְּבֵ֣ית יָרָבְעָ֑ם וְעַ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־הִכָּ֖ה אֹתֽוֹ׃ פMoreover, the word of the LORD came through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger with the work of his hands and becoming like the house of Jeroboam, and also because Baasha had struck down the house of Jeroboam.

8In die 26ste jaar van Asa, koning van Juda, het Ela, seun van Baesa, oor Israel regeer in Tirsa, twee jaar.בִּשְׁנַ֨ת עֶשְׂרִ֤ים וָשֵׁשׁ֙ שָׁנָ֔ה לְאָסָ֖א מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה מָ֠לַךְ אֵלָ֨ה בֶן־בַּעְשָׁ֧א עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בְּתִרְצָ֖ה שְׁנָתָֽיִם׃In the twenty-sixth year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah two years. 9En sy dienaar Simri, die owerste oor die helfte van die strydwaens, het teen hom saamgesweer terwyl hy in Tirsa was en homself dronk gedrink het in die huis van Arsa, wat oor die huis in Tirsa was.וַיִּקְשֹׁ֤ר עָלָיו֙ עַבְדּ֣וֹ זִמְרִ֔י שַׂ֖ר מַחֲצִ֣ית הָרָ֑כֶב וְה֤וּא בְתִרְצָה֙ שֹׁתֶ֣ה שִׁכּ֔וֹר בֵּ֣ית אַרְצָ֔א אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל־הַבַּ֖יִת בְּתִרְצָֽה׃However, while Elah was in Tirzah getting drunk in the house of Arza the steward of his household there, Elah’s servant Zimri, the commander of half his chariots, conspired against him. 10En Simri het ingekom en hom verslaan en hom doodgemaak, in die 27ste jaar van Asa, die koning van Juda, en hy het in sy plek koning geword.וַיָּבֹ֤א זִמְרִי֙ וַיַּכֵּ֣הוּ וַיְמִיתֵ֔הוּ בִּשְׁנַת֙ עֶשְׂרִ֣ים וָשֶׁ֔בַע לְאָסָ֖א מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃So in the twenty-seventh year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Zimri went in, struck Elah down, and killed him. And Zimri reigned in his place. 11En toe hy koning geword het, soos hy op sy troon gesit het, het hy die hele huis van Baesa verslaan; hy het vir hom niemand laat oorbly wat teen 'n muur urineer nie, ook nie sy losers of sy vriend nie.וַיְהִ֨י בְמָלְכ֜וֹ כְּשִׁבְתּ֣וֹ עַל־כִּסְא֗וֹ הִכָּה֙ אֶת־כָּל־בֵּ֣ית בַּעְשָׁ֔א לֹֽא־הִשְׁאִ֥יר ל֖וֹ מַשְׁתִּ֣ין בְּקִ֑יר וְגֹאֲלָ֖יו וְרֵעֵֽהוּ׃As soon as Zimri began to reign and was seated on the throne, he struck down the entire household of Baasha. He did not leave a single male, whether a kinsman or friend. 12So het Simri die hele huis van Baësa verdelg, volgens die woord van die HERE wat Hy deur die hand van die profeet Jehu teen Baësa gespreek het,וַיַּשְׁמֵ֣ד זִמְרִ֔י אֵ֖ת כָּל־בֵּ֣ית בַּעְשָׁ֑א כִּדְבַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֣ר אֶל־בַּעְשָׁ֔א בְּיַ֖ד יֵה֥וּא הַנָּבִֽיא׃So Zimri destroyed the entire household of Baasha, according to the word that the LORD had spoken against Baasha through Jehu the prophet. 13vanweë al die sondes van Baësa en die sondes van sy seun Ela, wat hulle gesondig het en waarmee hulle Israel laat sondig het om die HERE, die God van Israel, met hulle nietighede te terg.

אֶ֚ל כָּל־חַטֹּ֣אות בַּעְשָׁ֔א וְחַטֹּ֖אות אֵלָ֣ה בְנ֑וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָטְא֗וּ וַאֲשֶׁ֤ר הֶחֱטִ֨יאוּ֙ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לְהַכְעִ֗יס אֶת־יְהוָ֛ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּהַבְלֵיהֶֽם׃This happened because of all the sins Baasha and his son Elah had committed and had caused Israel to commit, provoking the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger with their worthless idols. 14En die res van die sake van Ela en alles wat hy gedoen het, is dit nie geskrywe in die boek van die kronieke van die konings van Israel nie?וְיֶ֛תֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י אֵלָ֖ה וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה הֲלֽוֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פAs for the rest of the acts of Elah, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

15In die 27ste jaar van Asa, koning van Juda, het Simri sewe dae in Tirsa regeer; en die volk was gelaer teen Gibbeton, wat aan die Filistyne behoort het.בִּשְׁנַת֩ עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וָשֶׁ֜בַע שָׁנָ֗ה לְאָסָא֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֔ה מָלַ֥ךְ זִמְרִ֛י שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים בְּתִרְצָ֑ה וְהָעָ֣ם חֹנִ֔ים עַֽל־גִּבְּת֖וֹן אֲשֶׁ֥ר לַפְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃In the twenty-seventh year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Zimri reigned in Tirzah for seven days. Now the troops were encamped against Gibbethon of the Philistines, 16Toe die volk wat gelaer was, hoor sê: “Simri het saamgesweer en ook die koning verslaan,” het die hele Israel op daardie dag in die laer Omri, die owerste van die leër, oor Israel koning gemaak.וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע הָעָם֙ הַחֹנִ֣ים לֵאמֹ֔ר קָשַׁ֣ר זִמְרִ֔י וְגַ֖ם הִכָּ֣ה אֶת־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיַּמְלִ֣כוּ כָֽל־יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל אֶת־עָמְרִ֨י שַׂר־צָבָ֧א עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא בַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃and the people in the camp heard that Zimri had conspired against the king and struck him down. So there in the camp that very day, all Israel proclaimed Omri, the commander of the army, king over Israel. 17En Omri het opgetrek, en die hele Israel saam met hom, van Gibbeton af, en hulle het Tirsa beleër.וַיַּעֲלֶ֥ה עָמְרִ֛י וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל עִמּ֖וֹ מִֽגִּבְּת֑וֹן וַיָּצֻ֖רוּ עַל־תִּרְצָֽה׃Then Omri and all the Israelites marched up from Gibbethon and besieged Tirzah. 18En toe Simri sien dat die stad ingeneem is, het hy in die burg van die huis van die koning ingegaan en die huis van die koning oor hom met vuur verbrand, en hy het gesterf.וַיְהִ֞י כִּרְא֤וֹת זִמְרִי֙ כִּֽי־נִלְכְּדָ֣ה הָעִ֔יר וַיָּבֹ֖א אֶל־אַרְמ֣וֹן בֵּית־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיִּשְׂרֹ֨ף עָלָ֧יו אֶת־בֵּֽית־מֶ֛לֶךְ בָּאֵ֖שׁ וַיָּמֹֽת׃When Zimri saw that the city was captured, he entered the citadel of the royal palace and burned it down upon himself. So he died 19omdat hy gesondig het deur te doen wat kwaad is in die oë van die HERE, deur in die weg van Jerobeam te wandel en in sy sonde wat hy gedoen het om Israel te laat sondig.עַל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָטָ֔א לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה לָלֶ֨כֶת֙ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ יָרָבְעָ֔ם וּבְחַטָּאתוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֔ה לְהַחֲטִ֖יא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃because of the sins he had committed, doing evil in the sight of the LORD and following the example of Jeroboam and the sin he had committed and had caused Israel to commit. 20En die res van die sake van Simri en sy sameswering wat hy gesmee het, is dit nie geskrywe in die boek van die kronieke van die konings van Israel nie?וְיֶ֨תֶר֙ דִּבְרֵ֣י זִמְרִ֔י וְקִשְׁר֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר קָשָׁ֑ר הֲלֹֽא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פAs for the rest of the acts of Zimri and the treason he committed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

21Toe is die volk Israel in twee helftes verdeel: die helfte van die volk het Tibni, die seun van Ginat, gevolg om hom koning te maak, en die helfte het Omri gevolg.

Letterlik: die helfte van die volk was agter Tibni.

אָ֧ז יֵחָלֵ֛ק הָעָ֥ם יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לַחֵ֑צִי חֲצִ֨י הָעָ֜ם הָ֠יָה אַחֲרֵ֨י תִבְנִ֤י בֶן־גִּינַת֙ לְהַמְלִיכ֔וֹ וְהַחֲצִ֖י אַחֲרֵ֥י עָמְרִֽי׃At that time the people of Israel were divided: Half of the people supported Tibni son of Ginath as king, and half supported Omri. 22Maar die volk wat agter Omri was, het die oorhand gekry oor die volk wat agter Tibni, seun van Ginat, was; en Tibni het gesterf, en Omri het koning geword.וַיֶּחֱזַ֤ק הָעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אַחֲרֵ֣י עָמְרִ֔י אֶת־הָעָ֕ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַחֲרֵ֖י תִּבְנִ֣י בֶן־גִּינַ֑ת וַיָּ֣מָת תִּבְנִ֔י וַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְ עָמְרִֽי׃ פBut the followers of Omri proved stronger than those of Tibni son of Ginath. So Tibni died and Omri became king.

23In die 31ste jaar van Asa, koning van Juda, het Omri oor Israel regeer, twaalf jaar; in Tirsa het hy ses jaar regeer.בִּשְׁנַת֩ שְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים וְאַחַ֜ת שָׁנָ֗ה לְאָסָא֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֔ה מָלַ֤ךְ עָמְרִי֙ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל שְׁתֵּ֥ים עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה שָׁנָ֑ה בְּתִרְצָ֖ה מָלַ֥ךְ שֵׁשׁ־שָׁנִֽים׃In the thirty-first year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned twelve years, six of them in Tirzah. 24Hy het die berg Samaria van Semer gekoop vir twee talente silwer; en hy het op die berg gebou, en die stad wat hy gebou het, het hy genoem na die naam van Semer, die heer van die berg: Samaria.

וַיִּ֜קֶן אֶת־הָהָ֥ר שֹׁמְר֛וֹן מֵ֥אֶת שֶׁ֖מֶר בְּכִכְּרַ֣יִם כָּ֑סֶף וַיִּ֨בֶן֙ אֶת־הָהָ֔ר וַיִּקְרָ֗א אֶת־שֵׁ֤ם הָעִיר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּנָ֔ה עַ֣ל שֶׁם־שֶׁ֔מֶר אֲדֹנֵ֖י הָהָ֥ר שֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃He bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver and built a city there, calling it Samaria after the name of Shemer, who had owned the hill. 25Omri het gedoen wat kwaad is in die oë van die HERE, en hy het meer kwaad gedoen as almal wat voor hom was.וַיַּעֲשֶׂ֥ה עָמְרִ֛י הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַיָּ֕רַע מִכֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לְפָנָֽיו׃But Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD and acted more wickedly than all who were before him. 26En hy het gewandel in die hele weg van Jerobeam, die seun van Nebat, wat Israel laat sondig het om die HERE, die God van Israel, met hulle nietighede te terg.וַיֵּ֗לֶךְ בְּכָל־דֶּ֨רֶךְ֙ יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־נְבָ֔ט אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱטִ֖יא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לְהַכְעִ֗יס אֶת־יְהוָ֛ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּהַבְלֵיהֶֽם׃For he walked in all the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat and in his sins, which he caused Israel to commit, provoking the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger with their worthless idols. 27En die res van die sake van Omri wat hy gedoen het, en sy magtige dade wat hy verrig het, is dit nie geskrywe in die boek van die kronieke van die konings van Israel nie?וְיֶ֨תֶר דִּבְרֵ֤י עָמְרִי֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֔ה וּגְבוּרָת֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה הֲלֹֽא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃As for the rest of the acts of Omri, along with his accomplishments and the might he exercised, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? 28En Omri het by sy vaders gaan lê en is in Samaria begrawe; en Agab, sy seun, het in sy plek koning geword.וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב עָמְרִי֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּשֹׁמְר֑וֹן וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אַחְאָ֥ב בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ פAnd Omri rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria, and his son Ahab reigned in his place.

29En Agab, die seun van Omri, het oor Israel koning geword in die 38ste jaar van Asa, die koning van Juda; en Agab, die seun van Omri, het 22 jaar lank oor Israel in Samaria geregeer.וְאַחְאָ֣ב בֶּן־עָמְרִ֗י מָלַךְ֙ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בִּשְׁנַ֨ת שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וּשְׁמֹנֶה֙ שָׁנָ֔ה לְאָסָ֖א מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַ֠יִּמְלֹךְ אַחְאָ֨ב בֶּן־עָמְרִ֤י עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וּשְׁתַּ֖יִם שָׁנָֽה׃In the thirty-eighth year of Asa’s reign over Judah, Ahab son of Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria twenty-two years. 30En Agab, die seun van Omri, het gedoen wat kwaad is in die oë van die HERE, meer as almal wat voor hom was.וַיַּ֨עַשׂ אַחְאָ֧ב בֶּן־עָמְרִ֛י הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה מִכֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לְפָנָֽיו׃However, Ahab son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD, more than all who were before him. 31En asof dit vir hom ’n geringe saak was om in die sondes van Jerobeam, die seun van Nebat, te wandel, het hy Isebel, die dogter van Etbaäl, die koning van die Sidoniërs, as vrou geneem, en hy het gegaan en Baäl gedien en voor hom neergebuig.

Letterlik: En was dit gering dat hy in die sondes van Jerobeam, die seun van Nebat, gewandel het? Hy het ook Isebel geneem.

וַיְהִי֙ הֲנָקֵ֣ל לֶכְתּ֔וֹ בְּחַטֹּ֖אות יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־נְבָ֑ט וַיִּקַּ֨ח אִשָּׁ֜ה אֶת־אִיזֶ֗בֶל בַּת־אֶתְבַּ֨עַל֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ צִידֹנִ֔ים וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ֙ וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֣ד אֶת־הַבַּ֔עַל וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לֽוֹ׃And as if it were not enough for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, he even married Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and he then proceeded to serve and worship Baal. 32En hy het ’n altaar vir Baäl opgerig in die huis van Baäl wat hy in Samaria gebou het.וַיָּ֥קֶם מִזְבֵּ֖חַ לַבָּ֑עַל בֵּ֣ית הַבַּ֔עַל אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּנָ֖ה בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃First, Ahab set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he had built in Samaria. 33En Agab het die gewyde paal gemaak; en Agab het nog verder gegaan om die HERE, die God van Israel, te terg, meer as al die konings van Israel wat voor hom was.

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ אַחְאָ֖ב אֶת־הָאֲשֵׁרָ֑ה וַיּ֨וֹסֶף אַחְאָ֜ב לַעֲשׂ֗וֹת לְהַכְעִיס֙ אֶת־יְהֹוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִכֹּ֨ל מַלְכֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָי֖וּ לְפָנָֽיו׃Then he set up an Asherah pole. Thus Ahab did more to provoke the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel before him. 34In sy dae het Hiël, die Beteliet, Jerigo gebou. Ten koste van Abiram, sy eersgeborene, het hy die fondament daarvan gelê, en ten koste van sy jongste het hy die deure daarvan opgerig, volgens die woord van die HERE wat Hy deur die hand van Josua, die seun van Nun, gespreek het.

Letterlik: Met Abiram, sy eersgeborene, het hy dit gegrondves, en met sy jongste het hy sy deure opgerig.
