These were the leaders of the priests and their associates in the days of Jeshua.

8En die Leviete: Jesua, Binnui, Kadmiël, Serebja, Juda, Mattanja; hy en sy broers was oor die dankliedere.וְהַלְוִיִּ֗ם יֵשׁ֧וּעַ בִּנּ֛וּי קַדְמִיאֵ֥ל שֵׁרֵבְיָ֖ה יְהוּדָ֣ה מַתַּנְיָ֑ה עַֽל־הֻיְּד֖וֹת ה֥וּא וְאֶחָֽיו׃The Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who, with his associates, led the songs of thanksgiving. 9En Bakbukja, hulle broers, was teenoor hulle in die diensbeurte.וּבַקְבֻּֽקְיָ֨ה אֲחֵיהֶ֛ם לְנֶגְדָּ֖ם לְמִשְׁמָרֽוֹת׃Bakbukiah and Unni, their associates, stood across from them in the services.

10En Jesua het Jojakim verwek, en Jojakim het Eljasib verwek, en Eljasib Jojada,וְיֵשׁ֖וּעַ הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־יֽוֹיָקִ֑ים וְיֽוֹיָקִים֙ הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־אֶלְיָשִׁ֔יב וְאֶלְיָשִׁ֖יב אֶת־יוֹיָדָֽע׃Jeshua was the father of Joiakim, Joiakim was the father of Eliashib, Eliashib was the father of Joiada, 11en Jojada het Jonatan verwek, en Jonatan het Jaddua verwek.וְיוֹיָדָע֙ הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־יוֹנָתָ֔ן וְיוֹנָתָ֖ן הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת־יַדּֽוּעַ׃Joiada was the father of Jonathan, and Jonathan was the father of Jaddua. 12En in die dae van Jojakim was daar priesters, hoofde van die vaders: vir Seraja, Meraja; vir Jeremia, Hananja;וּבִימֵי֙ יֽוֹיָקִ֔ים הָי֥וּ כֹהֲנִ֖ים רָאשֵׁ֣י הָאָב֑וֹת לִשְׂרָיָ֣ה מְרָיָ֔ה לְיִרְמְיָ֖ה חֲנַנְיָֽה׃In the days of Joiakim, these were the heads of the priestly families: of the family of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah; 13vir Esra, Mesullam; vir Amarja, Johanan;לְעֶזְרָ֣א מְשֻׁלָּ֔ם לַאֲמַרְיָ֖ה יְהוֹחָנָֽן׃of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan; 14Jonatan; vir Sebanja, Josef;יֽוֹנָתָ֔ן לִשְׁבַנְיָ֖ה יוֹסֵֽף׃of Malluchi, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph; 15vir Harim, Adna; vir Merajot, Helkai;לְחָרִ֣ם עַדְנָ֔א לִמְרָי֖וֹת חֶלְקָֽי׃of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai; 16Sagaria; vir Ginneton, Mesullam;זְכַרְיָ֖ה לְגִנְּת֥וֹן מְשֻׁלָּֽם׃of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam; 17vir Abia, Sigri; vir Minjamin, vir Moädja, Piltai;לַאֲבִיָּ֖ה זִכְרִ֑י לְמִ֨נְיָמִ֔ין לְמוֹעַדְיָ֖ה פִּלְטָֽי׃of Abijah, Zichri; of Miniamin and of Moadiah, Piltai; 18vir Bilga, Sammua; vir Semaja, Jonatan;לְבִלְגָּ֣ה שַׁמּ֔וּעַ לִֽשְׁמַעְיָ֖ה יְהוֹנָתָֽן׃of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jonathan; 19en vir Jojarib, Mattenai; vir Jedaja, Ussi;וּלְיוֹיָרִ֣יב מַתְּנַ֔י לִֽידַֽעְיָ֖ה עֻזִּֽי׃of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi; 20vir Sallai, Kallai; vir Amok, Eber;לְסַלַּ֥י קַלָּ֖י לְעָמ֥וֹק עֵֽבֶר׃of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber; 21vir Hilkia, Hasabja; vir Jedaja, Netanel.לְחִלְקִיָּ֣ה חֲשַׁבְיָ֔ה לִֽידַֽעְיָ֖ה נְתַנְאֵֽל׃of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; and of Jedaiah, Nethanel.

22Die Leviete in die dae van Eljasib, Jojada en Johanan en Jaddua is as familiehoofde opgeskryf, en ook die priesters, onder die koningskap van Darius die Pers.

הַלְוִיִּם֩ בִּימֵ֨י אֶלְיָשִׁ֜יב יוֹיָדָ֤ע וְיוֹחָנָן֙ וְיַדּ֔וּעַ כְּתוּבִ֖ים רָאשֵׁ֣י אָב֑וֹת וְהַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים עַל־מַלְכ֖וּת דָּרְיָ֥וֶשׁ הַפָּֽרְסִֽי׃ פIn the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua, during the reign of Darius the Persian, the heads of the families of the Levites and priests were recorded.

23Die seuns van Levi, hoofde van die vaders, is opgeteken in die boek van die Kronieke, en tot in die dae van Johanan, seun van Eljasib.

24En die hoofde van die Leviete was Hasabja, Serebja en Jesua, die seun van Kadmiël, met hulle broers teenoor hulle, om te loof en te dank volgens die gebod van Dawid, die man van God, diensafdeling teenoor diensafdeling.

27En by die inwyding van die muur van Jerusalem het hulle die Leviete uit al hulle woonplekke gesoek om hulle na Jerusalem te bring, om 'n inwyding te hou met blydskap en met danksegginge en met sang, simbale, harpe en siters.וּבַחֲנֻכַּ֞ת חוֹמַ֣ת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם בִּקְשׁ֤וּ אֶת־הַלְוִיִּם֙ מִכָּל־מְק֣וֹמֹתָ֔ם לַהֲבִיאָ֖ם לִֽירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם לַעֲשֹׂ֨ת חֲנֻכָּ֤ה וְשִׂמְחָה֙ וּבְתוֹד֣וֹת וּבְשִׁ֔יר מְצִלְתַּ֖יִם נְבָלִ֥ים וּבְכִנֹּרֽוֹת׃At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, the Levites were sought out from all their homes and brought to Jerusalem to celebrate the joyous dedication with thanksgiving and singing, accompanied by cymbals, harps, and lyres. 28En die seuns van die sangers het bymekaargekom, uit die omgewing rondom Jerusalem en uit die dorpe van die Netofatiete,וַיֵּאָ֣סְפ֔וּ בְּנֵ֖י הַמְשֹׁרְרִ֑ים וּמִן־הַכִּכָּר֙ סְבִיב֣וֹת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם וּמִן־חַצְרֵ֖י נְטֹפָתִֽי׃The singers were also assembled from the region around Jerusalem, from the villages of the Netophathites, 29en uit Bet-Gilgal en uit die velde van Geba en Asmawet, want die sangers het vir hulle howe gebou rondom Jerusalem.וּמִבֵּית֙ הַגִּלְגָּ֔ל וּמִשְּׂד֥וֹת גֶּ֖בַע וְעַזְמָ֑וֶת כִּ֣י חֲצֵרִ֗ים בָּנ֤וּ לָהֶם֙ הַמְשֹׁ֣רֲרִ֔ים סְבִיב֖וֹת יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃from Beth-gilgal, and from the fields of Geba and Azmaveth, for they had built villages for themselves around Jerusalem. 30En die priesters en die Leviete het hulleself gereinig, en hulle het die volk en die poorte en die muur gereinig.וַיִּֽטַּהֲר֔וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים וְהַלְוִיִּ֑ם וַֽיְטַהֲרוּ֙ אֶת־הָעָ֔ם וְאֶת־הַשְּׁעָרִ֖ים וְאֶֽת־הַחוֹמָֽה׃After the priests and Levites had purified themselves, they purified the people, the gates, and the wall. 31Toe het ek die owerstes van Juda bo-op die muur laat opgaan, en ek het twee groot danksegginge en optogte laat staan: die een na regs bo-op die muur, na die Poort van die Vullishope.

וָאַעֲלֶה֙ אֶת־שָׂרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה מֵעַ֖ל לַחוֹמָ֑ה וָאַעֲמִ֡ידָה שְׁתֵּ֣י תוֹדֹת֩ גְּדוֹלֹ֨ת וְתַהֲלֻכֹ֤ת לַיָּמִין֙ מֵעַ֣ל לַחוֹמָ֔ה לְשַׁ֖עַר הָאַשְׁפֹּֽת׃Then I brought the leaders of Judah up on the wall, and I appointed two great thanksgiving choirs. 35en van die seuns van die priesters, met trompette: Sagaria, seun van Jonatan, seun van Semaja, seun van Mattanja, seun van Mikaja, seun van Sakkur, seun van Asaf,וּמִבְּנֵ֥י הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים בַּחֲצֹצְר֑וֹת זְכַרְיָ֨ה בֶן־יֽוֹנָתָ֜ן בֶּן־שְׁמַֽעְיָ֗ה בֶּן־מַתַּנְיָה֙ בֶּן־מִ֣יכָיָ֔ה בֶּן־זַכּ֖וּר בֶּן־אָסָֽף׃and some of the priests with trumpets, and also Zechariah son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph, 36en sy broers: Semaja, Asarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Netanel, Juda en Hanani, met die instrumente van sang van Dawid, die man van God; en Esra, die skrywer, voor hulle uit.וְֽאֶחָ֡יו שְֽׁמַעְיָ֡ה וַעֲזַרְאֵ֡ל מִֽלֲלַ֡י גִּֽלֲלַ֡י מָעַ֞י נְתַנְאֵ֤ל וִֽיהוּדָה֙ חֲנָ֔נִי בִּכְלֵי־שִׁ֥יר דָּוִ֖יד אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְעֶזְרָ֥א הַסּוֹפֵ֖ר לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃and his associates—Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani—with the musical instruments prescribed by David the man of God. And they stopped at the Gate of the Guard. 40Toe het die twee danksegginge in die huis van God gaan staan, en ek en die helfte van die owerhede saam met my,וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֛דְנָה שְׁתֵּ֥י הַתּוֹדֹ֖ת בְּבֵ֣ית הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וַאֲנִ֕י וַחֲצִ֥י הַסְּגָנִ֖ים עִמִּֽי׃The two thanksgiving choirs then stood in the house of God, as did I, along with the half of the officials accompanying me, 41en die priesters Eljakim, Maäseja, Minjamin, Mikaja, Eljoënai, Sagaria en Hananja, met trompette,וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֡ים אֶלְיָקִ֡ים מַעֲשֵׂיָ֡ה מִ֠נְיָמִין מִיכָיָ֧ה אֶלְיוֹעֵינַ֛י זְכַרְיָ֥ה חֲנַנְיָ֖ה בַּחֲצֹצְרֽוֹת׃as well as the priests with their trumpets—Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah— 42en Maäseja en Semaja en Eleasar en Ussi en Johanan en Malkia en Elam en Eser. En die sangers het hulle laat hoor, en Jisragja was die opsigter.וּמַעֲשֵׂיָ֨ה וּֽשְׁמַֽעְיָ֜ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֧ר וְעֻזִּ֛י וִֽיהוֹחָנָ֥ן וּמַלְכִּיָּ֖ה וְעֵילָ֣ם וָעָ֑זֶר וַיַּשְׁמִ֨יעוּ֙ הַמְשֹׁ֣רְרִ֔ים וְיִֽזְרַחְיָ֖ה הַפָּקִֽיד׃and also Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer. Then the choirs sang out under the direction of Jezrahiah.

43Hulle het op daardie dag groot offers geoffer en bly gewees, want God het hulle bly gemaak met 'n groot blydskap; ook die vroue en die kinders was bly; en die blydskap van Jerusalem is van ver af gehoor.וַיִּזְבְּח֣וּ בַיּוֹם־הַ֠הוּא זְבָחִ֨ים גְּדוֹלִ֜ים וַיִּשְׂמָ֗חוּ כִּ֤י הָאֱלֹהִים֙ שִׂמְּחָם֙ שִׂמְחָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֔ה וְגַ֧ם הַנָּשִׁ֛ים וְהַיְלָדִ֖ים שָׂמֵ֑חוּ וַתִּשָּׁמַ֛ע שִׂמְחַ֥ת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם מֵרָחֽוֹק׃On that day they offered great sacrifices, rejoicing because God had given them great joy. The women and children also rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard from afar. 44Op daardie dag is manne aangestel oor die vertrekke vir die skatkamers, vir die offergawes, vir die eerstelinge en vir die tiendes, om daarin in te samel uit die velde van die stede die gedeeltes wat die wet vir die priesters en vir die Leviete bepaal, want die blydskap van Juda was oor die priesters en oor die Leviete wat diens gedoen het.

They also set aside daily portions for the Levites, and the Levites set aside daily portions for the descendants of Aaron.
