1En hulle het aan die oorkant van die see gekom, in die land van die Geraseners.aSommige manuskripte lees: Gadareners.Καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὸ πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης εἰς τὴν χώραν τῶν ⸀Γερασηνῶν.On the other side of the sea, they arrived in the region of the Gerasenes.2En toe Hy uit die skip uitgaan, het dadelik uit die grafte 'n mens met 'n onreine gees Hom tegemoet gekom,καὶ ⸂ἐξελθόντος αὐτοῦ⸃ ἐκ τοῦ πλοίου ⸂εὐθὺς ὑπήντησεν⸃ αὐτῷ ἐκ τῶν μνημείων ἄνθρωπος ἐν πνεύματι ἀκαθάρτῳ,As soon as Jesus got out of the boat, He was met by a man with an unclean spirit, who was coming from the tombs.3wat sy woonplek in die grafte gehad het, en selfs met 'n ketting kon niemand hom meer vasbind nie,ὃς τὴν κατοίκησιν εἶχεν ἐν τοῖς μνήμασιν, καὶ ⸂οὐδὲ ἁλύσει οὐκέτι⸃ οὐδεὶς ἐδύνατο αὐτὸν δῆσαιThis man had been living in the tombs and could no longer be restrained, even with chains.4omdat hy dikwels met voetboeie en kettings vasgebind was, en die kettings deur hom stukkend getrek en die voetboeie verbreek is, en niemand was sterk genoeg om hom te tem nie.διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν πολλάκις πέδαις καὶ ἁλύσεσι δεδέσθαι καὶ διεσπάσθαι ὑπʼ αὐτοῦ τὰς ἁλύσεις καὶ τὰς πέδας συντετρῖφθαι, καὶ οὐδεὶς ⸂ἴσχυεν αὐτὸν⸃ δαμάσαι·Though he was often bound with chains and shackles, he had broken the chains and shattered the shackles. Now there was no one with the strength to subdue him.5En altyd, nag en dag, was hy in die grafte en in die berge, skreeuend en homself met klippe kerwend.καὶ διὰ παντὸς νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας ἐν τοῖς ⸂μνήμασιν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσιν⸃ ἦν κράζων καὶ κατακόπτων ἑαυτὸν λίθοις.Night and day in the tombs and in the mountains he kept crying out and cutting himself with stones.6En toe hy Jesus van ver af sien, het hy gehardloop en voor Hom neergebuig,⸂καὶ ἰδὼν⸃ τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔδραμεν καὶ προσεκύνησεν ⸀αὐτόν,When the man saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees before Him.7en hy het met 'n groot stem uitgeroep en sê: “Wat het ek met U te doen, Jesus, Seun van die allerhoogste God? Ek besweer U by God: moenie my pynig nie.”aLetterlik: Wat is aan my en aan U?καὶ κράξας φωνῇ μεγάλῃ ⸀λέγει· Τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί, Ἰησοῦ υἱὲ τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ὑψίστου; ὁρκίζω σε τὸν θεόν, μή με βασανίσῃς.And he shouted in a loud voice, “What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You before God not to torture me!”8Want Hy het vir hom gesê: “Kom uit, onreine gees, uit die mens.”ἔλεγεν γὰρ αὐτῷ· Ἔξελθε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀκάθαρτον ἐκ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.For Jesus had already declared, “Come out of this man, you unclean spirit!”9En Hy het hom gevra: “Wat is jou naam?” En hy het vir Hom gesê: “Legioen is my naam, want ons is baie.”καὶ ἐπηρώτα αὐτόν· Τί ⸂ὄνομά σοι⸃; καὶ ⸂λέγει αὐτῷ⸃· ⸀Λεγιὼν ὄνομά μοι, ὅτι πολλοί ἐσμεν·“What is your name?” Jesus asked. “My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.”10En hy het Hom dringend gesmeek dat Hy hulle nie uit die land moet wegstuur nie.καὶ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν πολλὰ ἵνα μὴ ⸀αὐτὰ ἀποστείλῃ ἔξω τῆς χώρας.And he begged Jesus repeatedly not to send them out of that region.
11Nou, daar by die berg was 'n groot trop varke wat wei.ἦν δὲ ἐκεῖ πρὸς τῷ ὄρει ἀγέλη χοίρων μεγάλη βοσκομένη·There on the nearby hillside a large herd of pigs was feeding.12En hulle het Hom gesmeek en gesê: “Stuur ons in die varke, sodat ons in hulle kan ingaan.”aSommige manuskripte lees: En al die demone het Hom gesmeek en gesê.καὶ παρεκάλεσαν ⸀αὐτὸν λέγοντες· Πέμψον ἡμᾶς εἰς τοὺς χοίρους, ἵνα εἰς αὐτοὺς εἰσέλθωμεν.So the demons begged Jesus, “Send us to the pigs, so that we may enter them.”13En Hy het hulle toegelaat. He gave them permission, and the unclean spirits came out and went into the pigs, and the herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the water.
14En die wat hulle laat wei het, het gevlug en dit in die stad en op die plase berig; en hulle het gekom om te sien wat dit is wat gebeur het.⸂Καὶ οἱ⸃ βόσκοντες ⸀αὐτοὺς ἔφυγον καὶ ⸀ἀπήγγειλαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀγρούς· καὶ ⸀ἦλθον ἰδεῖν τί ἐστιν τὸ γεγονός.Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened.15En hulle kom na Jesus en sien die een wat deur 'n demoon besete was, sit, geklee en by sy volle verstand, hy wat die legio gehad het, en hulle het bang geword.καὶ ἔρχονται πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, καὶ θεωροῦσιν τὸν δαιμονιζόμενον ⸀καθήμενον ἱματισμένον καὶ σωφρονοῦντα, τὸν ἐσχηκότα τὸν ⸀λεγιῶνα, καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν.When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons sitting there, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.16En die wat dit gesien het, het aan hulle vertel hoe dit met die een wat deur 'n demoon besete was, gegaan het, en ook van die varke.⸂καὶ διηγήσαντο⸃ αὐτοῖς οἱ ἰδόντες πῶς ἐγένετο τῷ δαιμονιζομένῳ καὶ περὶ τῶν χοίρων.Those who had seen it described what had happened to the demon-possessed man and also to the pigs.17En hulle het Hom begin smeek om uit hulle gebied weg te gaan.καὶ ἤρξαντο παρακαλεῖν αὐτὸν ἀπελθεῖν ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτῶν.And the people began to beg Jesus to leave their region.18En terwyl Hy in die skip klim, het die een wat deur 'n demoon besete was, Hom gesmeek dat hy saam met Hom mag wees.καὶ ⸀ἐμβαίνοντος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πλοῖον παρεκάλει αὐτὸν ὁ δαιμονισθεὶς ἵνα ⸂μετʼ αὐτοῦ ᾖ⸃.As He was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by the demons begged to go with Him.19En Hy het hom nie toegelaat nie, maar sê vir hom: “Gaan na jou huis, na jou mense, en berig aan hulle hoeveel die Here vir jou gedoen het en dat Hy Hom oor jou ontferm het.”⸀καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν αὐτόν, ἀλλὰ λέγει αὐτῷ· Ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου πρὸς τοὺς σούς, καὶ ⸀ἀπάγγειλον αὐτοῖς ὅσα ⸂ὁ κύριός σοι⸃ πεποίηκεν καὶ ἠλέησέν σε.But Jesus would not allow him. “Go home to your own people,” He said, “and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy He has shown you.”20En hy het weggegaan en begin om in die Dekapolis te verkondig hoeveel Jesus vir hom gedoen het, en almal het hulle verwonder.καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ ἤρξατο κηρύσσειν ἐν τῇ Δεκαπόλει ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς, καὶ πάντες ἐθαύμαζον.So the man went away and began to proclaim throughout the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And everyone was amazed.
21En toe Jesus in die skip weer na die oorkant oorgesteek het, het 'n groot menigte by Hom saamgekom, en Hy was by die see.Καὶ διαπεράσαντος τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ πάλιν εἰς τὸ πέραν συνήχθη ὄχλος πολὺς ἐπʼ αὐτόν, καὶ ἦν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν.When Jesus had again crossed by boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him beside the sea.22En daar kom een van die sinagogeleiers, met die naam Jaïrus, en toe hy Hom sien, val hy aan Sy voete neer⸀καὶ ἔρχεται εἷς τῶν ἀρχισυναγώγων, ὀνόματι Ἰάϊρος, καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτὸν πίπτει πρὸς τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦA synagogue leader named Jairus arrived, and seeing Jesus, he fell at His feet23en smeek Hom dringend en sê: “My dogtertjie is op die rand van die dood—dat U kom en U hande op haar lê, sodat sy gered kan word en lewe.”aLetterlik: My dogtertjie het dit uiterstens.καὶ ⸀παρακαλεῖ αὐτὸν πολλὰ λέγων ὅτι Τὸ θυγάτριόν μου ἐσχάτως ἔχει, ἵνα ἐλθὼν ἐπιθῇς ⸂τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῇ⸃ ⸀ἵνα σωθῇ καὶ ⸀ζήσῃ.and pleaded with Him urgently, “My little daughter is near death. Please come and place Your hands on her, so that she will be healed and live.”24En Hy het saam met hom weggegaan. En 'n groot menigte het Hom gevolg, en hulle het Hom dik gedruk.καὶ ἀπῆλθεν μετʼ αὐτοῦ. Καὶ ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ ὄχλος πολύς, καὶ συνέθλιβον αὐτόν.So Jesus went with him, and a large crowd followed and pressed around Him.
25En 'n vrou wat twaalf jaar lank met 'n bloedvloeiing wasκαὶ ⸀γυνὴ οὖσα ἐν ῥύσει αἵματος ⸂δώδεκα ἔτη⸃And a woman was there who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years.26en baie gely het onder baie dokters en alles wat sy gehad het, bestee het en niks gebaat is nie, maar eerder erger geword het,καὶ πολλὰ παθοῦσα ὑπὸ πολλῶν ἰατρῶν καὶ δαπανήσασα τὰ παρʼ αὐτῆς πάντα καὶ μηδὲν ὠφεληθεῖσα ἀλλὰ μᾶλλον εἰς τὸ χεῖρον ἐλθοῦσα,She had borne much agony under the care of many physicians and had spent all she had, but to no avail. Instead, her condition had only grown worse.27het, toe sy van Jesus gehoor het, in die skare van agter af gekom en aan Sy kleed geraak;⸀ἀκούσασα περὶ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ, ἐλθοῦσα ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ ὄπισθεν ἥψατο τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ·When the woman heard about Jesus, she came up through the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak.28want sy het gesê: “As ek maar aan Sy klere raak, sal ek genees word.”aLetterlik: gered word.ἔλεγεν γὰρ ὅτι ⸂Ἐὰν ἅψωμαι κἂν τῶν ἱματίων αὐτοῦ⸃ σωθήσομαι.For she kept saying, “If only I touch His garments, I will be healed.”29En dadelik het die bron van haar bloed opgedroog, en sy het in haar liggaam geweet dat sy van die plaag genees is.καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ἐξηράνθη ἡ πηγὴ τοῦ αἵματος αὐτῆς, καὶ ἔγνω τῷ σώματι ὅτι ἴαται ἀπὸ τῆς μάστιγος.Immediately her bleeding stopped, and she sensed in her body that she was healed of her affliction.30En Jesus het dadelik in Homself besef dat die krag uit Hom uitgegaan het, en Hy het in die menigte omgedraai en gesê: “Wie het My klere aangeraak?”καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐπιγνοὺς ἐν ἑαυτῷ τὴν ἐξ αὐτοῦ δύναμιν ἐξελθοῦσαν ἐπιστραφεὶς ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ ἔλεγεν· Τίς μου ἥψατο τῶν ἱματίων;At once Jesus was aware that power had gone out from Him. Turning to the crowd, He asked, “Who touched My garments?”31En Sy dissipels het vir Hom gesê: “U sien hoe die skare U verdring, en U sê: ‘Wie het aan My geraak?’”καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ· Βλέπεις τὸν ὄχλον συνθλίβοντά σε, καὶ λέγεις· Τίς μου ἥψατο;His disciples answered, “You can see the crowd pressing in on You, and yet You ask, ‘Who touched Me?’”32En Hy het rondgekyk om haar te sien wat dit gedoen het.καὶ περιεβλέπετο ἰδεῖν τὴν τοῦτο ποιήσασαν.But He kept looking around to see who had done this.33Maar die vrou, bang en bewend, omdat sy geweet het wat met haar gebeur het, het gekom en voor Hom neergeval en vir Hom die hele waarheid gesê.ἡ δὲ γυνὴ φοβηθεῖσα καὶ τρέμουσα, εἰδυῖα ὃ γέγονεν ⸀αὐτῇ, ἦλθεν καὶ προσέπεσεν αὐτῷ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀλήθειαν.Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him trembling in fear, and she told Him the whole truth.34En Hy het vir haar gesê: “Dogter, jou geloof het jou gered; gaan in vrede, en wees gesond van jou plaag.”ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· ⸀Θυγάτηρ, ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέν σε· ὕπαγε εἰς εἰρήνην, καὶ ἴσθι ὑγιὴς ἀπὸ τῆς μάστιγός σου.“Daughter,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free of your affliction.”
35Terwyl Hy nog gepraat het, kom hulle van die sinagogeleier af en sê: “Jou dogter het gesterf; waarom val jy die Meester nog lastig?”Ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἔρχονται ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου λέγοντες ὅτι Ἡ θυγάτηρ σου ἀπέθανεν· τί ἔτι σκύλλεις τὸν διδάσκαλον;While He was still speaking, messengers from the house of Jairus arrived and said, “Your daughter is dead; why bother the Teacher anymore?”36Maar Jesus, wat die woord wat gespreek is, opgevang het, sê vir die sinagogeleier: “Moenie bang wees nie, glo net.”aOf: nie ag geslaan het op die woord wat gespreek is nie.ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ⸀παρακούσας τὸν λόγον λαλούμενον λέγει τῷ ἀρχισυναγώγῳ· Μὴ φοβοῦ, μόνον πίστευε.But Jesus overheard their conversation and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just believe.”37En Hy het niemand toegelaat om saam met Hom te gaan nie, behalwe Petrus en Jakobus en Johannes, die broer van Jakobus.καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν οὐδένα ⸂μετʼ αὐτοῦ⸃ συνακολουθῆσαι εἰ μὴ ⸀τὸν Πέτρον καὶ Ἰάκωβον καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν Ἰακώβου.And He did not allow anyone to accompany Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.38En hulle kom by die huis van die sinagogeleier, en Hy sien 'n rumoer en mense wat huil en baie luid weeklaag.καὶ ⸀ἔρχονται εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου, καὶ θεωρεῖ θόρυβον ⸀καὶ κλαίοντας καὶ ἀλαλάζοντας πολλά,When they arrived at the house of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw the commotion and the people weeping and wailing loudly.39En toe Hy ingaan, sê Hy vir hulle: “Waarom maak julle rumoer en huil julle? Die kindjie het nie gesterf nie, maar slaap.”καὶ εἰσελθὼν λέγει αὐτοῖς· Τί θορυβεῖσθε καὶ κλαίετε; τὸ παιδίον οὐκ ἀπέθανεν ἀλλὰ καθεύδει.He went inside and asked, “Why all this commotion and weeping? The child is not dead, but asleep.”40En hulle het Hom uitgelag. Maar Hy het almal uitgedryf en neem die vader van die kindjie en die moeder en die wat by Hom was, saam, en gaan in waar die kindjie was.καὶ κατεγέλων αὐτοῦ. ⸀αὐτὸς δὲ ἐκβαλὼν πάντας παραλαμβάνει τὸν πατέρα τοῦ παιδίου καὶ τὴν μητέρα καὶ τοὺς μετʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ εἰσπορεύεται ὅπου ἦν τὸ ⸀παιδίον·And they laughed at Him. After He had put them all outside, He took the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and went in to see the child.41En Hy het die kindjie se hand gegryp en sê vir haar: “Talitha koum”, wat vertaal beteken: “Meisietjie, Ek sê vir jou, staan op.”καὶ κρατήσας τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ παιδίου λέγει αὐτῇ· Ταλιθα ⸀κουμ, ὅ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον· Τὸ κοράσιον, σοὶ λέγω, ⸀ἔγειρε.Taking her by the hand, Jesus said, “Talitha koum!” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”42En dadelik het die meisietjie opgestaan en rondgeloop, want sy was twaalf jaar oud. En hulle was dadelik buite hulleself van groot verbasing.καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ἀνέστη τὸ κοράσιον καὶ περιεπάτει, ἦν γὰρ ἐτῶν δώδεκα. καὶ ἐξέστησαν ⸁εὐθὺς ἐκστάσει μεγάλῃ.Immediately the girl got up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). And at once they were utterly astounded.43En Hy het hulle dringend beveel dat niemand dit mag weet nie, en Hy het gesê dat aan haar iets te ete gegee moet word.καὶ διεστείλατο αὐτοῖς πολλὰ ἵνα μηδεὶς γνοῖ τοῦτο, καὶ εἶπεν δοθῆναι αὐτῇ φαγεῖν.Then Jesus gave strict orders that no one should know about this, and He told them to give her something to eat.
