καὶ ἐζήτουν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς πῶς αὐτὸν ἐν δόλῳ κρατήσαντες ἀποκτείνωσιν,Now the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread were two days away, and the chief priests and scribes were looking for a covert way to arrest Jesus and kill Him. 2want hulle het gesê: “Nie tydens die fees nie, sodat daar nie dalk 'n oproer onder die volk kom nie.”ἔλεγον ⸀γάρ· Μὴ ἐν τῇ ἑορτῇ, μήποτε ⸂ἔσται θόρυβος⸃ τοῦ λαοῦ.“But not during the feast,” they said, “or there may be a riot among the people.”
While Jesus was in Bethany reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke open the jar and poured it on Jesus’ head. 4Maar daar was sommige wat onder mekaar verontwaardig was: “Waarvoor was hierdie verkwisting van die salf?”ἦσαν δέ τινες ἀγανακτοῦντες πρὸς ⸀ἑαυτούς· Εἰς τί ἡ ἀπώλεια αὕτη τοῦ μύρου γέγονεν;Some of those present, however, expressed their indignation to one another: “Why this waste of perfume?
It could have been sold for over three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor.” And they scolded her.
6Maar Jesus het gesê: “Laat haar staan. Waarom val julle haar lastig? Sy het 'n goeie werk aan My gedoen.ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Ἄφετε αὐτήν· τί αὐτῇ κόπους παρέχετε; καλὸν ἔργον ἠργάσατο ἐν ἐμοί·But Jesus said, “Leave her alone; why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful deed to Me. 7Want die armes het julle altyd by julle, en wanneer julle wil, kan julle aan hulle goed doen; maar My het julle nie altyd nie.πάντοτε γὰρ τοὺς πτωχοὺς ἔχετε μεθʼ ἑαυτῶν, καὶ ὅταν θέλητε δύνασθε ⸀αὐτοῖς εὖ ποιῆσαι, ἐμὲ δὲ οὐ πάντοτε ἔχετε·The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them whenever you want. But you will not always have Me. 8Wat sy gehad het, het sy gedoen: sy het vooruit gekom om my liggaam te salf vir die begrafnis.ὃ ⸀ἔσχεν ἐποίησεν, προέλαβεν μυρίσαι ⸂τὸ σῶμά μου⸃ εἰς τὸν ἐνταφιασμόν.She has done what she could to anoint My body in advance of My burial. 9En voorwaar, ek sê vir julle: waar ook al die evangelie in die hele wêreld verkondig word, sal daar ook gepraat word van wat hierdie vrou gedoen het, tot haar gedagtenis.”
aSommige manuskripte lees: hierdie evangelie.
And truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached in all the world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”
10En Judas Iskariot, een van die twaalf, het weggegaan na die leierpriesters om Hom aan hulle oor te lewer.⸀Καὶ Ἰούδας ⸂Ἰσκαριὼθ ὁ⸃ εἷς τῶν δώδεκα ἀπῆλθεν πρὸς τοὺς ἀρχιερεῖς ἵνα αὐτὸν ⸂παραδοῖ αὐτοῖς⸃.Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them. καὶ ἐζήτει πῶς ⸂αὐτὸν εὐκαίρως παραδοῖ⸃.They were delighted to hear this, and they promised to give him money. So Judas began to look for an opportunity to betray Jesus.
12En op die eerste dag van die ongesuurde brode, toe hulle die paaslam geslag het, sê Sy dissipels vir Hom: “Waar wil U hê moet ons gaan voorberei sodat U die pasga kan eet?”Καὶ τῇ πρώτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τῶν ἀζύμων, ὅτε τὸ πάσχα ἔθυον, λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ· Ποῦ θέλεις ἀπελθόντες ἑτοιμάσωμεν ἵνα φάγῃς τὸ πάσχα;On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was to be sacrificed, Jesus’ disciples asked Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?” 13En Hy stuur twee van Sy dissipels en sê vir hulle: “Gaan na die stad, en 'n mens wat 'n kruik water dra, sal julle teëkom. Volg hom,καὶ ἀποστέλλει δύο τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Ὑπάγετε εἰς τὴν πόλιν, καὶ ἀπαντήσει ὑμῖν ἄνθρωπος κεράμιον ὕδατος βαστάζων· ἀκολουθήσατε αὐτῷ,So He sent two of His disciples and told them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jug of water will meet you. Follow him, 14en waar hy ook al ingaan, sê vir die huiseienaar: ‘Die Meester sê: Waar is My gastekamer waar Ek die pasga met My dissipels kan eet?’καὶ ὅπου ⸀ἐὰν εἰσέλθῃ εἴπατε τῷ οἰκοδεσπότῃ ὅτι Ὁ διδάσκαλος λέγει· Ποῦ ἐστιν τὸ κατάλυμά ⸀μου ὅπου τὸ πάσχα μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν μου φάγω;and whichever house he enters, say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is My guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’ 15En hy self sal vir julle 'n groot bovertrek wys, ingerig en gereed. Berei daar vir ons voor.”καὶ αὐτὸς ὑμῖν δείξει ἀνάγαιον μέγα ἐστρωμένον ἕτοιμον· ⸀καὶ ἐκεῖ ἑτοιμάσατε ἡμῖν.And he will show you a large upper room, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.” 16En die dissipels het uitgegaan en in die stad gekom en dit gevind soos Hy vir hulle gesê het, en hulle het die pasga voorberei.καὶ ἐξῆλθον οἱ ⸀μαθηταὶ καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ εὗρον καθὼς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἡτοίμασαν τὸ πάσχα.So the disciples left and went into the city, where they found everything as Jesus had described. And they prepared the Passover.
17En toe dit aand geword het, kom Hy met die twaalf.Καὶ ὀψίας γενομένης ἔρχεται μετὰ τῶν δώδεκα.When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. 18En terwyl hulle aan tafel was en eet, het Jesus gesê: “Voorwaar, Ek sê vir julle: een van julle sal My oorlewer, een wat saam met My eet.”καὶ ἀνακειμένων αὐτῶν καὶ ἐσθιόντων ⸂ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν⸃· Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι εἷς ἐξ ὑμῶν παραδώσει με ὁ ἐσθίων μετʼ ἐμοῦ.And while they were reclining and eating, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, one of you who is eating with Me will betray Me.” 19Hulle het begin bedroef word en een vir een vir Hom sê: “Dit is tog nie ek nie?”
aSommige manuskripte lees: ... “Dit is tog nie ek nie?” En 'n ander: “Dit is tog nie ek nie?”
⸀ἤρξαντο λυπεῖσθαι καὶ λέγειν αὐτῷ εἷς κατὰ εἷς· Μήτι ⸀ἐγώ;They began to be grieved and to ask Him one after another, “Surely not I?”
20Maar Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Een van die twaalf, wat saam met My in die skottel indoop.ὁ ⸀δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· ⸀Εἷς τῶν δώδεκα, ὁ ἐμβαπτόμενος μετʼ ἐμοῦ εἰς ⸀τὸ τρύβλιον·He answered, “It is one of the Twelve—the one who is dipping his hand into the bowl with Me. 21Want die Seun van die mens gaan wel heen soos oor Hom geskryf is, maar wee daardie mens deur wie die Seun van die mens oorgelewer word! The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
aSommige manuskripte lees: Neem, eet; dit is My liggaam.
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, spoke a blessing and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take it; this is My body.”
Then He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24En Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Dit is My bloed van die verbond, wat vir baie uitgestort word.
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Τοῦτό ἐστιν τὸ αἷμά μου ⸀τῆς διαθήκης τὸ ⸂ἐκχυννόμενον ὑπὲρ πολλῶν⸃.He said to them, “This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.
25Voorwaar, Ek sê vir julle: Ek sal beslis nie meer van die vrug van die wingerdstok drink tot daardie dag wanneer Ek dit nuut drink in die koninkryk van God.”ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐκέτι οὐ μὴ πίω ἐκ τοῦ γενήματος τῆς ἀμπέλου ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης ὅταν αὐτὸ πίνω καινὸν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ.Truly I tell you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God.”
26En nadat hulle lofliedere gesing het, het hulle uitgegaan na die Olyfberg.Καὶ ὑμνήσαντες ἐξῆλθον εἰς τὸ Ὄρος τῶν Ἐλαιῶν.And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι Πάντες ⸀σκανδαλισθήσεσθε, ὅτι γέγραπται· Πατάξω τὸν ποιμένα, καὶ ⸂τὰ πρόβατα διασκορπισθήσονται⸃.Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’
28Maar nadat Ek opgewek is, sal Ek julle vooruitgaan na Galilea.”ἀλλὰ μετὰ τὸ ἐγερθῆναί με προάξω ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν.But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.” 29Maar Petrus het vir Hom gesê: “Selfs al sal almal struikel, tog nie ek nie.”ὁ δὲ Πέτρος ἔφη αὐτῷ· ⸂Εἰ καὶ⸃ πάντες σκανδαλισθήσονται, ἀλλʼ οὐκ ἐγώ.Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I never will.” 30En Jesus sê vir hom: “Voorwaar, ek sê vir jou: jy, vandag, in hierdie nag, voordat 'n haan twee keer gekraai het, sal my drie keer verloën.”καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἀμὴν λέγω σοι ὅτι σὺ σήμερον ⸂ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ⸃ πρὶν ἢ δὶς ἀλέκτορα φωνῆσαι τρίς ⸂με ἀπαρνήσῃ⸃.“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” 31Maar hy het met nog meer klem gepraat: “As ek saam met U moet sterf, sal ek U nooit verloën nie.” En net so het hulle almal ook gesê.ὁ δὲ ⸂ἐκπερισσῶς ἐλάλει⸃· Ἐὰν ⸂δέῃ με⸃ συναποθανεῖν σοι, οὐ μή σε ⸀ἀπαρνήσομαι. But Peter kept insisting, “Even if I have to die with You, I will never deny You.” And all the others said the same thing.
32En hulle kom by 'n stuk grond met die naam Getsemane, en Hy sê vir Sy dissipels: “Sit hier totdat ek gebid het.”Καὶ ἔρχονται εἰς χωρίον οὗ τὸ ὄνομα Γεθσημανί, καὶ λέγει τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ· Καθίσατε ὧδε ἕως προσεύξωμαι.Then they came to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus told His disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33En Hy neem Petrus en Jakobus en Johannes saam met Hom, en Hy het begin om verskrik en benoud te word,καὶ παραλαμβάνει τὸν Πέτρον καὶ ⸂Ἰάκωβον καὶ⸃ Ἰωάννην μετʼ ⸀αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἤρξατο ἐκθαμβεῖσθαι καὶ ἀδημονεῖν,He took with Him Peter, James, and John, and began to be deeply troubled and distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch.” 35En Hy het 'n entjie vooruitgegaan en op die grond geval, en Hy het gebid dat, as dit moontlik is, die uur van Hom kan verbygaan.καὶ ⸂προελθὼν μικρὸν ἔπιπτεν⸃ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ προσηύχετο ἵνα εἰ δυνατόν ἐστιν παρέλθῃ ἀπʼ αὐτοῦ ἡ ὥρα,Going a little farther, He fell to the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour would pass from Him. 36en Hy het gesê: “Abba, Vader, alles is vir U moontlik; neem hierdie beker van My weg. Maar nie wat Ek wil nie, maar wat U wil.”καὶ ἔλεγεν· Αββα ὁ πατήρ, πάντα δυνατά σοι· παρένεγκε τὸ ποτήριον ⸂τοῦτο ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ⸃· ἀλλʼ οὐ τί ἐγὼ θέλω ἀλλὰ τί σύ.“Abba, Father,” He said, “all things are possible for You. Take this cup from Me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.” 37En Hy kom en vind hulle aan die slaap, en Hy sê vir Petrus: “Simon, slaap jy? Kon jy nie een uur waak nie?καὶ ἔρχεται καὶ εὑρίσκει αὐτοὺς καθεύδοντας, καὶ λέγει τῷ Πέτρῳ· Σίμων, καθεύδεις; οὐκ ἴσχυσας μίαν ὥραν γρηγορῆσαι;Then Jesus returned and found them sleeping. “Simon, are you asleep?” He asked. “Were you not able to keep watch for one hour? 38Waak en bid, sodat julle nie in versoeking kom nie. Die gees is wel gewillig, maar die vlees is swak.”γρηγορεῖτε καὶ προσεύχεσθε, ἵνα μὴ ⸀ἔλθητε εἰς πειρασμόν· τὸ μὲν πνεῦμα πρόθυμον ἡ δὲ σὰρξ ἀσθενής.Watch and pray so that you will not enter into temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” 39En Hy het weer weggegaan en gebid en dieselfde woord gesê.καὶ πάλιν ἀπελθὼν προσηύξατο τὸν αὐτὸν λόγον εἰπών.Again He went away and prayed, saying the same thing. 40En toe Hy weer kom, het Hy hulle aan die slaap gevind, want hulle oë was swaar, en hulle het nie geweet wat om Hom te antwoord nie.καὶ ⸂πάλιν ἐλθὼν εὗρεν αὐτοὺς⸃ καθεύδοντας, ἦσαν γὰρ ⸂αὐτῶν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ⸃ ⸀καταβαρυνόμενοι, καὶ οὐκ ᾔδεισαν τί ⸂ἀποκριθῶσιν αὐτῷ⸃.And again Jesus returned and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. And they did not know what to answer Him. 41En Hy kom die derde keer en sê vir hulle: “Slaap voortaan en rus.
When Jesus returned the third time, He said, “Are you still sleeping and resting? That is enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
42Staan op, laat ons gaan. Kyk, hy wat my oorlewer, het naby gekom.”ἐγείρεσθε ἄγωμεν· ἰδοὺ ὁ παραδιδούς με ἤγγικεν.Rise, let us go. See, My betrayer is approaching!”
While Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, scribes, and elders. Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The One I kiss is the man; arrest Him and lead Him away securely.” 45En toe hy kom, het hy dadelik na Hom gegaan en gesê: “Rabbi!” en Hom gesoen.καὶ ἐλθὼν ⸀εὐθὺς προσελθὼν αὐτῷ λέγει· ⸀Ῥαββί, καὶ κατεφίλησεν αὐτόν.Going directly to Jesus, he said, “Rabbi!” and kissed Him. 46En hulle het die hande aan Hom geslaan en Hom gegryp.οἱ δὲ ἐπέβαλαν ⸂τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῷ⸃ καὶ ἐκράτησαν αὐτόν.Then the men seized Jesus and arrested Him. 47Maar een van die wat daarby gestaan het, het die swaard getrek en die slaaf van die hoëpriester geslaan en sy oor afgekap.εἷς δέ ⸀τις τῶν παρεστηκότων σπασάμενος τὴν μάχαιραν ἔπαισεν τὸν δοῦλον τοῦ ἀρχιερέως καὶ ἀφεῖλεν αὐτοῦ τὸ ⸀ὠτάριον.And one of the bystanders drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. 48En Jesus het geantwoord en vir hulle gesê: “Het julle soos teen 'n rower uitgekom met swaarde en knuppels om My gevange te neem?καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Ὡς ἐπὶ λῃστὴν ἐξήλθατε μετὰ μαχαιρῶν καὶ ξύλων συλλαβεῖν με;Jesus asked the crowd, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would an outlaw? 49Elke dag was ek by julle in die tempel en het ek geleer, en julle het my nie gegryp nie. Maar dit is sodat die Skrifte vervul word.”καθʼ ἡμέραν ἤμην πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ διδάσκων καὶ οὐκ ἐκρατήσατέ με· ἀλλʼ ἵνα πληρωθῶσιν αἱ γραφαί.Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest Me. But this has happened that the Scriptures would be fulfilled.” 50En hulle het Hom verlaat en almal gevlug.καὶ ἀφέντες αὐτὸν ⸂ἔφυγον πάντες⸃.Then everyone deserted Him and fled.
Καὶ ⸂νεανίσκος τις⸃ ⸀συνηκολούθει αὐτῷ περιβεβλημένος σινδόνα ἐπὶ γυμνοῦ, καὶ κρατοῦσιν ⸀αὐτόν,One young man who had been following Jesus was wearing a linen cloth around his body. They caught hold of him,
52maar hy het die linnedoek agtergelaat en kaal gevlug.ὁ δὲ καταλιπὼν τὴν σινδόνα γυμνὸς ⸀ἔφυγεν.but he pulled free of the linen cloth and ran away naked.
They led Jesus away to the high priest, and all the chief priests, elders, and scribes assembled.
aLetterlik: by die lig.
Peter followed Him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he sat with the officers and warmed himself by the fire.
55En die leierpriesters en die hele Raad het getuienis teen Jesus gesoek om Hom dood te maak, en hulle het dit nie gevind nie.οἱ δὲ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ ὅλον τὸ συνέδριον ἐζήτουν κατὰ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ μαρτυρίαν εἰς τὸ θανατῶσαι αὐτόν, καὶ οὐχ ηὕρισκον·Now the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but they did not find any. 56Want baie het vals getuienis teen Hom afgelê, en die getuienisse was nie eenders nie.πολλοὶ γὰρ ἐψευδομαρτύρουν κατʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἴσαι αἱ μαρτυρίαι οὐκ ἦσαν.For many bore false witness against Jesus, but their testimony was inconsistent. 57En sommige het opgestaan en vals teen Hom getuig en gesê:καί τινες ἀναστάντες ἐψευδομαρτύρουν κατʼ αὐτοῦ λέγοντεςThen some men stood up and testified falsely against Him: 58“Ons het Hom hoor sê: ‘Ek sal hierdie tempel wat met hande gemaak is, afbreek, en binne drie dae sal ek 'n ander een opbou wat nie met hande gemaak is nie.’”ὅτι Ἡμεῖς ἠκούσαμεν αὐτοῦ λέγοντος ὅτι Ἐγὼ καταλύσω τὸν ναὸν τοῦτον τὸν χειροποίητον καὶ διὰ τριῶν ἡμερῶν ἄλλον ἀχειροποίητον οἰκοδομήσω·“We heard Him say, ‘I will destroy this man-made temple, and in three days I will build another that is made without hands.’” 59En selfs so het hulle getuienis nie ooreengestem nie.καὶ οὐδὲ οὕτως ἴση ἦν ἡ μαρτυρία αὐτῶν.But even their testimony was inconsistent. Wat getuig hierdie mense teen Jou?”καὶ ἀναστὰς ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς εἰς μέσον ἐπηρώτησεν τὸν Ἰησοῦν λέγων· Οὐκ ἀποκρίνῃ οὐδέν; τί οὗτοί σου καταμαρτυροῦσιν;So the high priest stood up before them and questioned Jesus, “Have You no answer? What are these men testifying against You?” 61Maar Hy het stilgebly en niks geantwoord nie. Weer het die hoëpriester Hom gevra en vir Hom gesê: “Is Jy die Christus, die Seun van die Geseënde?”ὁ δὲ ἐσιώπα καὶ ⸂οὐκ ἀπεκρίνατο οὐδέν⸃. πάλιν ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς ἐπηρώτα αὐτὸν καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· Σὺ εἶ ὁ χριστὸς ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ εὐλογητοῦ;But Jesus remained silent and made no reply. Again the high priest questioned Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?” 62En Jesus het gesê: “Ek is, en julle sal die Seun van die mens sien sit aan die regterkant van die Krag en kom met die wolke van die hemel.”ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Ἐγώ εἰμι, καὶ ὄψεσθε τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐκ δεξιῶν καθήμενον τῆς δυνάμεως καὶ ἐρχόμενον μετὰ τῶν νεφελῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ.“I am,” said Jesus, “and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.” 63En die hoëpriester het sy klere geskeur en gesê: “Wat het ons nog getuies nodig?ὁ δὲ ἀρχιερεὺς διαρρήξας τοὺς χιτῶνας αὐτοῦ λέγει· Τί ἔτι χρείαν ἔχομεν μαρτύρων;At this, the high priest tore his clothes and declared, “Why do we need any more witnesses? 64Julle het die godslastering gehoor. Hoe lyk dit vir julle?” En hulle het Hom almal veroordeel dat Hy die dood skuldig is.ἠκούσατε τῆς βλασφημίας· τί ὑμῖν φαίνεται; οἱ δὲ πάντες κατέκριναν αὐτὸν ⸂ἔνοχον εἶναι⸃ θανάτου.You have heard the blasphemy. What is your verdict?” And they all condemned Him as deserving of death.
Then some of them began to spit on Him. They blindfolded Him, struck Him with their fists, and said to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers received Him with slaps in His face.
66En terwyl Petrus onder in die binnehof was, kom een van die diensmeisies van die hoëpriester,Καὶ ὄντος τοῦ Πέτρου ⸂κάτω ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ⸃ ἔρχεται μία τῶν παιδισκῶν τοῦ ἀρχιερέως,While Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the servant girls of the high priest came down 67en toe sy Petrus sien terwyl hy hom warm maak, kyk sy hom aan en sê: “Jy was ook saam met die Nasarener, Jesus.”καὶ ἰδοῦσα τὸν Πέτρον θερμαινόμενον ἐμβλέψασα αὐτῷ λέγει· Καὶ σὺ μετὰ τοῦ Ναζαρηνοῦ ⸂ἦσθα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ⸃·and saw him warming himself there. She looked at Peter and said, “You also were with Jesus the Nazarene.” 68Maar hy het dit ontken en gesê: “Ek weet nie en verstaan nie wat jy sê nie.”
ὁ δὲ ἠρνήσατο λέγων· ⸂Οὔτε οἶδα οὔτε ἐπίσταμαι σὺ τί⸃ λέγεις, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἔξω εἰς τὸ προαύλιον ⸂καὶ ἀλέκτωρ ἐφώνησεν⸃.But he denied it. “I do not know or even understand what you are talking about,” he said. Then he went out to the gateway, and the rooster crowed.
69En die slavin het hom gesien en weer begin sê vir die omstanders: “Hierdie een is een van hulle.”καὶ ἡ παιδίσκη ἰδοῦσα αὐτὸν ⸂ἤρξατο πάλιν⸃ λέγειν τοῖς ⸀παρεστῶσιν ὅτι Οὗτος ἐξ αὐτῶν ἐστιν.There the servant girl saw him and again said to those standing nearby, “This man is one of them.” 70Maar hy het weer ontken.
καὶ μετὰ μικρὸν πάλιν οἱ παρεστῶτες ἔλεγον τῷ Πέτρῳ· Ἀληθῶς ἐξ αὐτῶν εἶ, καὶ γὰρ Γαλιλαῖος εἶ ⸂καὶ ἡ λαλιά σου ὁμοιάζει⸃·But he denied it again. After a little while, those standing nearby said once more to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you too are a Galilean.”
But he began to curse and swear, “I do not know this man of whom you speak!” 72En dadelik het die haan vir die tweede keer gekraai.
And immediately the rooster crowed a second time. Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And he broke down and wept.
