1En die HERE het met Moses gespreek en gesê:וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃Then the LORD said to Moses, 2“Praat met die Israeliete en sê vir hulle: ‘Ek is die HERE, julle God.דַּבֵּר֙ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאָמַרְתָּ֖ אֲלֵהֶ֑ם אֲנִ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: I am the LORD your God. 3Soos die werk van die land Egipte, waar julle gewoon het, moet julle nie doen nie, en soos die werk van die land Kanaän, waarheen Ek julle bring, moet julle nie doen nie; en in hulle insettinge moet julle nie wandel nie.כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֧ה אֶֽרֶץ־מִצְרַ֛יִם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְשַׁבְתֶּם־בָּ֖הּ לֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֑וּ וּכְמַעֲשֵׂ֣ה אֶֽרֶץ־כְּנַ֡עַן אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֲנִי֩ מֵבִ֨יא אֶתְכֶ֥ם שָׁ֨מָּה֙ לֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֔וּ וּבְחֻקֹּתֵיהֶ֖ם לֹ֥א תֵלֵֽכוּ׃You must not follow the practices of the land of Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not follow the practices of the land of Canaan, into which I am bringing you. You must not walk in their customs. 4My verordeninge moet julle doen en my insettinge moet julle onderhou om daarin te wandel. Ek is die HERE julle God.אֶת־מִשְׁפָּטַ֧י תַּעֲשׂ֛וּ וְאֶת־חֻקֹּתַ֥י תִּשְׁמְר֖וּ לָלֶ֣כֶת בָּהֶ֑ם אֲנִ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃You are to practice My judgments and keep My statutes by walking in them. I am the LORD your God. 5Julle moet my insettinge en my verordeninge onderhou; die mens wat hulle doen, sal daardeur lewe. Ek is die HERE.וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֤ם אֶת־חֻקֹּתַי֙ וְאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטַ֔י אֲשֶׁ֨ר יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה אֹתָ֛ם הָאָדָ֖ם וָחַ֣י בָּהֶ֑ם אֲנִ֖י יְהוָֽה׃ סKeep My statutes and My judgments, for the man who does these things will live by them. I am the LORD.

6Geen man mag tot enige naasbestaande van sy vlees nader kom om naaktheid te ontbloot nie. Ek is die HERE.אִ֥ישׁ אִישׁ֙ אֶל־כָּל־שְׁאֵ֣ר בְּשָׂר֔וֹ לֹ֥א תִקְרְב֖וּ לְגַלּ֣וֹת עֶרְוָ֑ה אֲנִ֖י יְהוָֽה׃ סNone of you are to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the LORD. 7Die naaktheid van jou vader en die naaktheid van jou moeder mag jy nie ontbloot nie; sy is jou moeder, jy mag haar naaktheid nie ontbloot nie.עֶרְוַ֥ת אָבִ֛יךָ וְעֶרְוַ֥ת אִמְּךָ֖ לֹ֣א תְגַלֵּ֑ה אִמְּךָ֣ הִ֔וא לֹ֥א תְגַלֶּ֖ה עֶרְוָתָֽהּ׃ סYou must not expose the nakedness of your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; you must not have sexual relations with her. 8Die naaktheid van jou vader se vrou mag jy nie ontbloot nie; dit is jou vader se naaktheid.עֶרְוַ֥ת אֵֽשֶׁת־אָבִ֖יךָ לֹ֣א תְגַלֵּ֑ה עֶרְוַ֥ת אָבִ֖יךָ הִֽוא׃ סYou must not have sexual relations with your father’s wife; it would dishonor your father. 9Die naaktheid van jou suster, die dogter van jou vader of die dogter van jou moeder, gebore in die huis of gebore daarbuite, hulle naaktheid mag jy nie ontbloot nie.עֶרְוַ֨ת אֲחֽוֹתְךָ֤ בַת־אָבִ֨יךָ֙ א֣וֹ בַת־אִמֶּ֔ךָ מוֹלֶ֣דֶת בַּ֔יִת א֖וֹ מוֹלֶ֣דֶת ח֑וּץ לֹ֥א תְגַלֶּ֖ה עֶרְוָתָֽן׃ סYou must not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere. 10Die naaktheid van jou seun se dogter of van jou dogter se dogter, hulle naaktheid mag jy nie ontbloot nie, want hulle is jou naaktheid.עֶרְוַ֤ת בַּת־בִּנְךָ֙ א֣וֹ בַֽת־בִּתְּךָ֔ לֹ֥א תְגַלֶּ֖ה עֶרְוָתָ֑ן כִּ֥י עֶרְוָתְךָ֖ הֵֽנָּה׃ סYou must not have sexual relations with your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter, for that would shame your family. 11Die naaktheid van die dogter van jou vader se vrou, gebore uit jou vader, sy is jou suster, jy mag haar naaktheid nie ontbloot nie.עֶרְוַ֨ת בַּת־אֵ֤שֶׁת אָבִ֨יךָ֙ מוֹלֶ֣דֶת אָבִ֔יךָ אֲחוֹתְךָ֖ הִ֑וא לֹ֥א תְגַלֶּ֖ה עֶרְוָתָֽהּ׃ סYou must not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father’s wife, born to your father; she is your sister. 12Die naaktheid van jou vader se suster mag jy nie ontbloot nie; sy is jou vader se bloedverwant.עֶרְוַ֥ת אֲחוֹת־אָבִ֖יךָ לֹ֣א תְגַלֵּ֑ה שְׁאֵ֥ר אָבִ֖יךָ הִֽוא׃ סYou must not have sexual relations with your father’s sister; she is your father’s close relative. 13Die naaktheid van jou moeder se suster mag jy nie ontbloot nie, want sy is jou moeder se bloedverwant.עֶרְוַ֥ת אֲחֽוֹת־אִמְּךָ֖ לֹ֣א תְגַלֵּ֑ה כִּֽי־שְׁאֵ֥ר אִמְּךָ֖ הִֽוא׃ סYou must not have sexual relations with your mother’s sister, for she is your mother’s close relative. 14Die naaktheid van die broer van jou vader moet jy nie ontbloot nie; tot sy vrou moet jy nie nader kom nie; sy is jou tante.עֶרְוַ֥ת אֲחִֽי־אָבִ֖יךָ לֹ֣א תְגַלֵּ֑ה אֶל־אִשְׁתּוֹ֙ לֹ֣א תִקְרָ֔ב דֹּדָֽתְךָ֖ הִֽוא׃ סYou must not dishonor your father’s brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations with her; she is your aunt. 15Die naaktheid van jou skoondogter mag jy nie ontbloot nie; sy is jou seun se vrou, jy mag haar naaktheid nie ontbloot nie.עֶרְוַ֥ת כַּלָּֽתְךָ֖ לֹ֣א תְגַלֵּ֑ה אֵ֤שֶׁת בִּנְךָ֙ הִ֔וא לֹ֥א תְגַלֶּ֖ה עֶרְוָתָֽהּ׃ סYou must not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son’s wife; you are not to have sexual relations with her. 16Die naaktheid van jou broer se vrou mag jy nie ontbloot nie; dit is jou broer se naaktheid.עֶרְוַ֥ת אֵֽשֶׁת־אָחִ֖יךָ לֹ֣א תְגַלֵּ֑ה עֶרְוַ֥ת אָחִ֖יךָ הִֽוא׃ סYou must not have sexual relations with your brother’s wife; that would shame your brother. 17Die naaktheid van 'n vrou en van haar dogter moet jy nie ontbloot nie; die dogter van haar seun en die dogter van haar dogter moet jy nie neem om haar naaktheid te ontbloot nie; hulle is naasbestaandes, dit is skandelikheid.עֶרְוַ֥ת אִשָּׁ֛ה וּבִתָּ֖הּ לֹ֣א תְגַלֵּ֑ה אֶֽת־בַּת־בְּנָ֞הּ וְאֶת־בַּת־בִּתָּ֗הּ לֹ֤א תִקַּח֙ לְגַלּ֣וֹת עֶרְוָתָ֔הּ שַׁאֲרָ֥ה הֵ֖נָּה זִמָּ֥ה הִֽואYou must not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. You are not to marry her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter and have sexual relations with her. They are close relatives; it is depraved. 18En jy mag nie 'n vrou by haar suster neem om haar tot mededinger te maak, om haar naaktheid naas haar te ontbloot terwyl sy lewe nie.

וְאִשָּׁ֥ה אֶל־אֲחֹתָ֖הּ לֹ֣א תִקָּ֑ח לִצְרֹ֗ר לְגַלּ֧וֹת עֶרְוָתָ֛הּ עָלֶ֖יהָ בְּחַיֶּֽיהָ׃You must not take your wife’s sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is still alive.

19En tot 'n vrou in die afsondering van haar onreinheid moet jy nie nader kom om haar naaktheid te ontbloot nie.וְאֶל־אִשָּׁ֖ה בְּנִדַּ֣ת טֻמְאָתָ֑הּ לֹ֣א תִקְרַ֔ב לְגַלּ֖וֹת עֶרְוָתָֽהּ׃You must not approach a woman to have sexual relations with her during her menstrual period. 20En met die vrou van jou naaste moet jy nie lê tot saad om jou deur haar onrein te maak nie.

Letterlik: jy mag nie jou lê tot saad gee nie.

וְאֶל־אֵ֨שֶׁת֙ עֲמִֽיתְךָ֔ לֹא־תִתֵּ֥ן שְׁכָבְתְּךָ֖ לְזָ֑רַע לְטָמְאָה־בָֽהּ׃You must not lie carnally with your neighbor’s wife and thus defile yourself with her. 21En van jou nageslag moet jy nie gee om vir die Molek te laat oorgaan nie, en jy mag nie die naam van jou God ontheilig nie. Ek is die HERE.וּמִֽזַּרְעֲךָ֥ לֹא־תִתֵּ֖ן לְהַעֲבִ֣יר לַמֹּ֑לֶךְ וְלֹ֧א תְחַלֵּ֛ל אֶת־שֵׁ֥ם אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃You must not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD. 22En met 'n man moet jy nie lê soos met 'n vrou nie; dit is 'n gruwel.

וְאֶ֨ת־זָכָ֔ר לֹ֥א תִשְׁכַּ֖ב מִשְׁכְּבֵ֣י אִשָּׁ֑ה תּוֹעֵבָ֖ה הִֽוא׃You must not lie with a man as with a woman; that is an abomination. 23En met enige dier moet jy nie lê om jou daardeur onrein te maak nie; en 'n vrou mag nie voor 'n dier gaan staan om daarmee te paar nie. Dit is 'n verdraaiing.

Letterlik: jy mag nie jou lê gee nie.

וּבְכָל־בְּהֵמָ֛ה לֹא־תִתֵּ֥ן שְׁכָבְתְּךָ֖ לְטָמְאָה־בָ֑הּ וְאִשָּׁ֗ה לֹֽא־תַעֲמֹ֞ד לִפְנֵ֧י בְהֵמָ֛ה לְרִבְעָ֖הּ תֶּ֥בֶל הֽוּא׃You must not lie carnally with any animal, thus defiling yourself with it; a woman must not stand before an animal to mate with it; that is a perversion.

24Julle moet julle nie met enige van hierdie dinge onrein maak nie, want met al hierdie dinge het die nasies hulle onrein gemaak wat Ek van voor julle uit wegstuur.אַל־תִּֽטַּמְּא֖וּ בְּכָל־אֵ֑לֶּה כִּ֤י בְכָל־אֵ֨לֶּה֙ נִטְמְא֣וּ הַגּוֹיִ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־אֲנִ֥י מְשַׁלֵּ֖חַ מִפְּנֵיכֶֽם׃Do not defile yourselves by any of these practices, for by all these things the nations I am driving out before you have defiled themselves. 25Toe het die land onrein geword, en Ek het sy ongeregtigheid daaroor besoek, en die land het sy inwoners uitgebraak.וַתִּטְמָ֣א הָאָ֔רֶץ וָאֶפְקֹ֥ד עֲוֺנָ֖הּ עָלֶ֑יהָ וַתָּקִ֥א הָאָ֖רֶץ אֶת־יֹשְׁבֶֽיהָ׃Even the land has become defiled, so I am punishing it for its sin, and the land will vomit out its inhabitants. 26En julle self moet my insettinge en my verordeninge onderhou en niks doen van al hierdie gruwels nie, die inboorling en die vreemdeling wat in julle midde woon.וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֣ם אַתֶּ֗ם אֶת־חֻקֹּתַי֙ וְאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטַ֔י וְלֹ֣א תַעֲשׂ֔וּ מִכֹּ֥ל הַתּוֹעֵבֹ֖ת הָאֵ֑לֶּה הָֽאֶזְרָ֔ח וְהַגֵּ֖ר הַגָּ֥ר בְּתוֹכְכֶֽם׃But you are to keep My statutes and ordinances, and you must not commit any of these abominations—neither your native-born nor the foreigner who lives among you. 27Want al hierdie gruwels het die manne van die land gedoen wat voor julle was, en die land het onrein geword.כִּ֚י אֶת־כָּל־הַתּוֹעֵבֹ֣ת הָאֵ֔ל עָשׂ֥וּ אַנְשֵֽׁי־הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לִפְנֵיכֶ֑ם וַתִּטְמָ֖א הָאָֽרֶץ׃For the men who were in the land before you committed all these abominations, and the land has become defiled. 28En die land sal julle nie uitbraak as julle dit onrein maak nie, soos dit die nasie uitgebraak het wat voor julle was.וְלֹֽא־תָקִ֤יא הָאָ֨רֶץ֙ אֶתְכֶ֔ם בְּטַֽמַּאֲכֶ֖ם אֹתָ֑הּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר קָאָ֛ה אֶת־הַגּ֖וֹי אֲשֶׁ֥ר לִפְנֵיכֶֽם׃So if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it spewed out the nations before you. 29Want elkeen wat enigeen van hierdie gruwels doen, die persone wat dit doen, sal uit die midde van hulle volk afgesny word.כִּ֚י כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר יַעֲשֶׂ֔ה מִכֹּ֥ל הַתּוֹעֵב֖וֹת הָאֵ֑לֶּה וְנִכְרְת֛וּ הַנְּפָשׁ֥וֹת הָעֹשֹׂ֖ת מִקֶּ֥רֶב עַמָּֽם׃Therefore anyone who commits any of these abominations must be cut off from among his people.

30Julle moet my opdrag onderhou deur niks te doen van die insettinge van die gruwels wat voor julle gedoen is nie, en julle daardeur nie onrein te maak nie. Ek is die HERE, julle God.’”

וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֣ם אֶת־מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֗י לְבִלְתִּ֨י עֲשׂ֜וֹת מֵחֻקּ֤וֹת הַתּֽוֹעֵבֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נַעֲשׂ֣וּ לִפְנֵיכֶ֔ם וְלֹ֥א תִֽטַּמְּא֖וּ בָּהֶ֑ם אֲנִ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃ פYou must keep My charge not to practice any of the abominable customs that were practiced before you, so that you do not defile yourselves by them. I am the LORD your God.”
