Then Solomon declared: “The LORD has said that He would dwell in the thick cloud.
But I have built You an exalted house, a place for You to dwell forever.”
And as the whole assembly of Israel stood there, the king turned around and blessed them all 4En hy het gesê: “Geloof sy die HERE, die God van Israel, wat met Sy mond met my vader Dawid gespreek het en dit met Sy hande vervul het deur te sê:וַיֹּ֗אמֶר בָּר֤וּךְ יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר֙ דִּבֶּ֣ר בְּפִ֔יו אֵ֖ת דָּוִ֣יד אָבִ֑י וּבְיָדָ֥יו מִלֵּ֖א לֵאמֹֽר׃and said: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has fulfilled with His own hand what He spoke with His mouth to my father David, saying, 5‘Van die dag af dat Ek My volk uit die land Egipte uitgelei het, het Ek nie 'n stad gekies uit al die stamme van Israel om 'n huis te bou sodat My naam daar kan wees nie, en Ek het nie 'n man gekies om leier te wees oor My volk Israel nie.מִן־הַיּ֗וֹם אֲשֶׁ֨ר הוֹצֵ֣אתִי אֶת־עַמִּי֮ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַיִם֒ לֹא־בָחַ֣רְתִּֽי בְעִ֗יר מִכֹּל֙ שִׁבְטֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לִבְנ֣וֹת בַּ֔יִת לִהְי֥וֹת שְׁמִ֖י שָׁ֑ם וְלֹא־בָחַ֣רְתִּֽי בְאִ֔ישׁ לִהְי֥וֹת נָגִ֖יד עַל־עַמִּ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃‘Since the day I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house so that My Name would be there, nor have I chosen anyone to be ruler over My people Israel. 6Maar Ek het Jerusalem gekies sodat My naam daar sou wees, en Ek het Dawid gekies om oor My volk Israel te wees.’ But now I have chosen Jerusalem for My Name to be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’ 7En dit was in die hart van my vader Dawid om 'n huis te bou vir die naam van die HERE, die God van Israel. Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel. 8Maar die HERE het aan my vader Dawid gesê: ‘Omdat dit in jou hart was om 'n huis vir My naam te bou, het jy goed gedoen dat dit in jou hart was. But the LORD said to my father David, ‘Since it was in your heart to build a house for My Name, you have done well to have this in your heart. Nevertheless, you are not the one to build it; but your son, your own offspring, will build the house for My Name.’ 10En die HERE het Sy woord wat Hy gespreek het, gestand gedoen, en ek het opgestaan in die plek van my vader Dawid en op die troon van Israel gaan sit, soos die HERE gespreek het, en ek het die huis gebou vir die naam van die HERE, die God van Israel. Now the LORD has fulfilled the word that He spoke. I have succeeded my father David, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built the house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.

Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands.

He stood on it, knelt down before the whole assembly of Israel, spread out his hands toward heaven,
14En hy het gesê: “HERE, God van Israel, daar is geen God soos U in die hemel en op die aarde nie, wat die verbond en die troue liefde hou vir U knegte wat met hulle hele hart voor U aangesig wandel;וַיֹּאמַ֗ר יְהוָ֞ה אֱלֹהֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֵין־כָּמ֣וֹךָ אֱלֹהִ֔ים בַּשָּׁמַ֖יִם וּבָאָ֑רֶץ שֹׁמֵ֤ר הַבְּרִית֙ וְֽהַחֶ֔סֶד לַעֲבָדֶ֕יךָ הַהֹלְכִ֥ים לְפָנֶ֖יךָ בְּכָל־לִבָּֽם׃and said: “O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven or on earth, keeping Your covenant of loving devotion with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts. You have kept Your promise to Your servant, my father David. What You spoke with Your mouth You have fulfilled with Your hand this day. 16En nou, HERE, God van Israel, hou vir U kneg Dawid, my vader, wat U aan hom gespreek het toe U gesê het: ‘Daar sal vir jou nie 'n man voor My aangesig ontbreek wat op die troon van Israel sit nie, as jou seuns net hulle weg bewaar om in My wet te wandel soos jy voor My aangesig gewandel het.’

38en hulle hulle met hulle hele hart en met hulle hele siel tot U bekeer in die land van hulle gevangenskap waarheen hulle hulle gevange weggevoer het, en hulle bid in die rigting van hulle land wat U aan hulle vaders gegee het, en van die stad wat U gekies het en van die huis wat ek vir U naam gebou het,וְשָׁ֣בוּ אֵלֶ֗יךָ בְּכָל־לִבָּם֙ וּבְכָל־נַפְשָׁ֔ם בְּאֶ֥רֶץ שִׁבְיָ֖ם אֲשֶׁר־שָׁב֣וּ אֹתָ֑ם וְהִֽתְפַּֽלְל֗וּ דֶּ֤רֶךְ אַרְצָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָתַ֣תָּה לַאֲבוֹתָ֔ם וְהָעִיר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּחַ֔רְתָּ וְלַבַּ֖יִת אֲשֶׁר־בָּנִ֥יתִי לִשְׁמֶֽךָ׃and when they return to You with all their heart and soul in the land of the enemies who took them captive, and when they pray in the direction of the land that You gave to their fathers, the city You have chosen, and the house I have built for Your Name, 39dan sal U uit die hemel, uit die vaste plek waar U woon, hulle gebed en hulle smekinge hoor en hulle reg doen en U volk vergewe wat teen U gesondig het.וְשָׁמַעְתָּ֨ מִן־הַשָּׁמַ֜יִם מִמְּכ֣וֹן שִׁבְתְּךָ֗ אֶת־תְּפִלָּתָם֙ וְאֶת־תְּחִנֹּ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם וְעָשִׂ֖יתָ מִשְׁפָּטָ֑ם וְסָלַחְתָּ֥ לְעַמְּךָ֖ אֲשֶׁ֥ר חָֽטְאוּ־לָֽךְ׃then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, their prayer and pleas, and may You uphold their cause. May You forgive Your people who sinned against You. 40Nou, my God, laat U oë tog oop wees en U ore oplettend vir die gebed van hierdie plek. Now, my God, may Your eyes be open and Your ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.
Now therefore, arise, O LORD God, and enter Your resting place, You and the ark of Your might. May Your priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and may Your godly ones rejoice in goodness.
