1Hiskia het koning geword toe hy 25 jaar oud was, en hy het 29 jaar in Jerusalem regeer; en die naam van sy moeder was Abia, die dogter van Sagaria.יְחִזְקִיָּ֣הוּ מָלַ֗ךְ בֶּן־עֶשְׂרִ֤ים וְחָמֵשׁ֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֤ים וָתֵ֨שַׁע֙ שָׁנָ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ אֲבִיָּ֖ה בַּת־זְכַרְיָֽהוּ׃Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah. 2En hy het gedoen wat reg is in die oë van die HERE, volgens alles wat sy vader Dawid gedoen het.וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הַיָּשָׁ֖ר בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֖ה דָּוִ֥יד אָבִֽיו׃And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father David had done.
3Hy het in die eerste jaar van sy regering, in die eerste maand, die deure van die huis van die HERE oopgemaak en dit herstel.ה֣וּא בַשָּׁנָה֩ הָרִאשׁוֹנָ֨ה לְמָלְכ֜וֹ בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֗וֹן פָּתַ֛ח אֶת־דַּלְת֥וֹת בֵּית־יְהוָ֖ה וַֽיְחַזְּקֵֽם׃In the first month of the first year of his reign, Hezekiah opened and repaired the doors of the house of the LORD. 4En hy het die priesters en die Leviete laat kom en hulle op die plein aan die oostekant bymekaargemaak.וַיָּבֵ֥א אֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים וְאֶת־הַלְוִיִּ֑ם וַיַּֽאַסְפֵ֖ם לִרְח֥וֹב הַמִּזְרָֽח׃Then he brought in the priests and Levites and gathered them in the square on the east side.

Remove from the Holy Place every impurity. 6Want ons vaders het ontrou gehandel en gedoen wat kwaad is in die oë van die HERE ons God, en Hom verlaat; en hulle het hul gesig van die woning van die HERE af weggedraai en die rug toegekeer.כִּֽי־מָעֲל֣וּ אֲבֹתֵ֗ינוּ וְעָשׂ֥וּ הָרַ֛ע בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהוָֽה־אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ וַיַּֽעַזְבֻ֑הוּ וַיַּסֵּ֧בּוּ פְנֵיהֶ֛ם מִמִּשְׁכַּ֥ן יְהוָ֖ה וַיִּתְּנוּ־עֹֽרֶף׃For our fathers were unfaithful and did evil in the sight of the LORD our God. They abandoned Him, turned their faces away from the dwelling place of the LORD, and turned their backs on Him. 7Hulle het ook die deure van die voorportaal gesluit en die lampe geblus, en geen reukwerk gebrand nie en geen brandoffer in die heiligdom aan die God van Israel gebring nie.גַּ֣ם סָֽגְר֞וּ דַּלְת֣וֹת הָאוּלָ֗ם וַיְכַבּוּ֙ אֶת־הַנֵּר֔וֹת וּקְטֹ֖רֶת לֹ֣א הִקְטִ֑ירוּ וְעֹלָה֙ לֹא־הֶעֱל֣וּ בַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ לֵאלֹהֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃They also shut the doors of the portico and extinguished the lamps. They did not burn incense or present burnt offerings in the Holy Place of the God of Israel. 8Daarom was die toorn van die HERE oor Juda en Jerusalem, en Hy het hulle ’n verskrikking en ’n gesis gemaak, soos julle met julle eie oë sien.וַיְהִי֙ קֶ֣צֶף יְהוָ֔ה עַל־יְהוּדָ֖ה וִירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וַיִּתְּנֵ֤ם לְשַׁמָּ֣ה וְלִשְׁרֵקָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר אַתֶּ֥ם רֹאִ֖ים בְּעֵינֵיכֶֽם׃Therefore, the wrath of the LORD has fallen upon Judah and Jerusalem, and He has made them an object of terror, horror, and scorn, as you can see with your own eyes. 9En kyk, ons vaders het deur die swaard geval, en ons seuns en ons dogters en ons vroue is hieroor in gevangenskap.וְהִנֵּ֛ה נָפְל֥וּ אֲבוֹתֵ֖ינוּ בֶּחָ֑רֶב וּבָנֵ֨ינוּ וּבְנוֹתֵ֧ינוּ וְנָשֵׁ֛ינוּ בַּשְּׁבִ֖י עַל־זֹֽאת׃For behold, this is why our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and daughters and wives are in captivity. 10Nou is dit in my hart om ’n verbond met die HERE, die God van Israel, te sluit, sodat die gloed van Sy toorn van ons af kan terugkeer.עַתָּה֙ עִם־לְבָבִ֔י לִכְר֣וֹת בְּרִ֔ית לַיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְיָשֹׁ֥ב מִמֶּ֖נּוּ חֲר֥וֹן אַפּֽוֹ׃Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD, the God of Israel, so that His fierce anger will turn away from us. 11My seuns, moenie nou nalatig wees nie, want die HERE het julle uitgekies om voor Sy aangesig te staan, om Hom te dien en om vir Hom dienaars te wees en offers te brand.”בָּנַ֕י עַתָּ֖ה אַל־תִּשָּׁל֑וּ כִּֽי־בָכֶ֞ם בָּחַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה לַעֲמֹ֤ד לְפָנָיו֙ לְשָׁ֣רְת֔וֹ וְלִהְי֥וֹת ל֖וֹ מְשָׁרְתִ֥ים וּמַקְטִרִֽים׃ סNow, my sons, do not be negligent, for the LORD has chosen you to stand before Him, to serve Him, to minister before Him, and to burn incense.”

15Hulle het hulle broers bymekaargemaak en hulle geheilig en gekom volgens die gebod van die koning, deur die woorde van die HERE, om die huis van die HERE te reinig.וַיַּֽאַסְפ֤וּ אֶת־אֲחֵיהֶם֙ וַיִּֽתְקַדְּשׁ֔וּ וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ כְמִצְוַת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ בְּדִבְרֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה לְטַהֵ֖ר בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃When they had assembled their brothers and consecrated themselves, they went in to cleanse the house of the LORD, according to the command of the king by the words of the LORD. 16En die priesters het na binne in die huis van die HERE ingegaan om te reinig, en hulle het al die onreinheid wat hulle in die tempel van die HERE gekry het, na die voorhof van die huis van die HERE uitgebring; en die Leviete het dit ontvang om dit buitentoe na die Kidronspruit uit te bring.וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ הַ֠כֹּהֲנִים לִפְנִ֣ימָה בֵית־יְהוָה֮ לְטַהֵר֒ וַיּוֹצִ֗יאוּ אֵ֤ת כָּל־הַטֻּמְאָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר מָֽצְאוּ֙ בְּהֵיכַ֣ל יְהוָ֔ה לַחֲצַ֖ר בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה וַֽיְקַבְּלוּ֙ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם לְהוֹצִ֥יא לְנַֽחַל־קִדְר֖וֹן חֽוּצָה׃So the priests went inside the house of the LORD to cleanse it, and they brought out to the courtyard all the unclean things that they found in the temple of the LORD. Then the Levites took these things and carried them out to the Kidron Valley. 17Hulle het op die eerste dag van die eerste maand begin om te heilig, en op die agtste dag van die maand het hulle by die voorportaal van die HERE gekom; en hulle het die huis van die HERE agt dae lank geheilig, en op die sestiende dag van die eerste maand het hulle klaargemaak.וַ֠יָּחֵלּוּ בְּאֶחָ֞ד לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁוֹן֮ לְקַדֵּשׁ֒ וּבְי֧וֹם שְׁמוֹנָ֣ה לַחֹ֗דֶשׁ בָּ֚אוּ לְאוּלָ֣ם יְהוָ֔ה וַיְקַדְּשׁ֥וּ אֶת־בֵּית־יְהוָ֖ה לְיָמִ֣ים שְׁמוֹנָ֑ה וּבְי֨וֹם שִׁשָּׁ֥ה עָשָׂ֛ר לַחֹ֥דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֖וֹן כִּלּֽוּ׃ סThey began the consecration on the first day of the first month, and on the eighth day of the month they reached the portico of the LORD. For eight more days they consecrated the house of the LORD itself, finishing on the sixteenth day of the first month. 18Toe het hulle binnegegaan na koning Hiskia en gesê: “Ons het die hele huis van die HERE gereinig, die brandofferaltaar en al sy gerei, en die tafel van die rangskikking en al sy gerei.וַיָּב֤וֹאוּ פְנִ֨ימָה֙ אֶל־חִזְקִיָּ֣הוּ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ טִהַ֖רְנוּ אֶת־כָּל־בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה אֶת־מִזְבַּ֤ח הָעוֹלָה֙ וְאֶת־כָּל־כֵּלָ֔יו וְאֶת־שֻׁלְחַ֥ן הַֽמַּעֲרֶ֖כֶת וְאֶת־כָּל־כֵּלָֽיו׃Then they went in to King Hezekiah and reported, “We have cleansed the entire house of the LORD, the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the table of the showbread with all its utensils. 19En al die gerei wat koning Agas tydens sy koningskap in sy troueloosheid verwerp het, het ons gereedgemaak en geheilig; en kyk, hulle is voor die altaar van die HERE.”וְאֵ֣ת כָּל־הַכֵּלִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִזְנִיחַ֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ אָחָ֧ז בְּמַלְכוּת֛וֹ בְּמַעֲל֖וֹ הֵכַ֣נּוּ וְהִקְדָּ֑שְׁנוּ וְהִנָּ֕ם לִפְנֵ֖י מִזְבַּ֥ח יְהוָֽה׃ סMoreover, we have prepared and consecrated all the articles that King Ahaz in his unfaithfulness cast aside during his reign. They are now in front of the altar of the LORD.”
20Toe het koning Hiskia vroeg opgestaan en die owerstes van die stad bymekaargemaak en opgegaan na die huis van die HERE.וַיַּשְׁכֵּם֙ יְחִזְקִיָּ֣הוּ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַיֶּאֱסֹ֕ף אֵ֖ת שָׂרֵ֣י הָעִ֑יר וַיַּ֖עַל בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃Early the next morning King Hezekiah gathered the city officials and went up to the house of the LORD. 21En hulle het sewe bulle en sewe ramme en sewe lammers en sewe bokramme gebring as sondoffer vir die koninkryk en vir die heiligdom en vir Juda; en hy het vir die seuns van Aäron, die priesters, gesê om dit op die altaar van die HERE te offer.וַיָּבִ֣יאוּ פָרִים־שִׁבְעָה֩ וְאֵילִ֨ים שִׁבְעָ֜ה וּכְבָשִׂ֣ים שִׁבְעָ֗ה וּצְפִירֵ֨י עִזִּ֤ים שִׁבְעָה֙ לְחַטָּ֔את עַל־הַמַּמְלָכָ֥ה וְעַל־הַמִּקְדָּ֖שׁ וְעַל־יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיֹּ֗אמֶר לִבְנֵ֤י אַהֲרֹן֙ הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים לְהַעֲל֖וֹת עַל־מִזְבַּ֥ח יְהוָֽה׃They brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven male goats as a sin offering for the kingdom, for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And the king commanded the priests, the descendants of Aaron, to offer them on the altar of the LORD. 22Toe het hulle die beeste geslag, en die priesters het die bloed ontvang en dit teen die altaar gesprinkel; en hulle het die ramme geslag en die bloed teen die altaar gesprinkel; en hulle het die lammers geslag en die bloed teen die altaar gesprinkel.וַֽיִּשְׁחֲטוּ֙ הַבָּקָ֔ר וַיְקַבְּל֤וּ הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ אֶת־הַדָּ֔ם וַֽיִּזְרְק֖וּ הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חָה וַיִּשְׁחֲט֣וּ הָאֵלִ֗ים וַיִּזְרְק֤וּ הַדָּם֙ הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חָה וַֽיִּשְׁחֲטוּ֙ הַכְּבָשִׂ֔ים וַיִּזְרְק֥וּ הַדָּ֖ם הַמִּזְבֵּֽחָה׃So they slaughtered the bulls, and the priests took the blood and splattered it on the altar. They slaughtered the rams and splattered the blood on the altar. And they slaughtered the lambs and splattered the blood on the altar. 23Daarna het hulle die sondofferbokke voor die koning en die vergadering gebring, en hulle het hul hande op hulle gelê.וַיַּגִּ֨ישׁוּ֙ אֶת־שְׂעִירֵ֣י הַֽחַטָּ֔את לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וְהַקָּהָ֑ל וַיִּסְמְכ֥וּ יְדֵיהֶ֖ם עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃Then they brought the goats for the sin offering before the king and the assembly, who laid their hands on them. 24En die priesters het hulle geslag en met hul bloed ’n sondoffer by die altaar gebring om vir die hele Israel versoening te doen; want vir die hele Israel het die koning die brandoffer en die sondoffer beveel.וַיִּשְׁחָטוּם֙ הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים וַֽיְחַטְּא֤וּ אֶת־דָּמָם֙ הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חָה לְכַפֵּ֖ר עַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּ֤י לְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אָמַ֣ר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ הָעוֹלָ֖ה וְהַחַטָּֽאת׃And the priests slaughtered the goats and put their blood on the altar for a sin offering, to make atonement for all Israel, because the king had ordered the burnt offering and the sin offering for all Israel.

For the command had come from the LORD through His prophets. 26En die Leviete het gestaan met die instrumente van Dawid, en die priesters met die trompette.וַיַּֽעַמְד֤וּ הַלְוִיִּם֙ בִּכְלֵ֣י דָוִ֔יד וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים בַּחֲצֹצְרֽוֹת׃ סThe Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets. 27Hiskia het gesê dat die brandoffer op die altaar opgeoffer moes word; en op die tydstip toe die brandoffer begin het, het die lied van die HERE begin, en die trompette, saam met die instrumente van Dawid, die koning van Israel.וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ חִזְקִיָּ֔הוּ לְהַעֲל֥וֹת הָעֹלָ֖ה לְהַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וּבְעֵ֞ת הֵחֵ֣ל הָֽעוֹלָ֗ה הֵחֵ֤ל שִׁיר־יְהוָה֙ וְהַחֲצֹ֣צְר֔וֹת וְעַ֨ל־יְדֵ֔י כְּלֵ֖י דָּוִ֥יד מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃And Hezekiah ordered that the burnt offering be sacrificed on the altar. When the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD and the trumpets began as well, accompanied by the instruments of David king of Israel. 28En die hele vergadering het hulle neergebuig, en die lied is gesing en die trompette geblaas, dit alles totdat die brandoffer voltooi was.וְכָל־הַקָּהָל֙ מִֽשְׁתַּחֲוִ֔ים וְהַשִּׁ֣יר מְשׁוֹרֵ֔ר וְהַחֲצֹצְר֖וֹת הַכֹּ֕ל עַ֖ד לִכְל֥וֹת הָעֹלָֽה׃The whole assembly was worshiping, the singers were singing, and the trumpeters were playing. All this continued until the burnt offering was completed. 29En toe hulle klaar geoffer het, het die koning en almal wat by hom aanwesig was, gekniel en hulle neergebuig.וּכְכַלּ֖וֹת לְהַעֲל֑וֹת כָּרְע֗וּ הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ וְכָֽל־הַנִּמְצְאִ֥ים אִתּ֖וֹ וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ׃When the offerings were completed, the king and all those present with him bowed down and worshiped. 30Toe het koning Hiskia en die owerstes vir die Leviete gesê om die HERE te loof met die woorde van Dawid en van Asaf, die siener; en hulle het met blydskap geloof en die hoof gebuig en hulle neergebuig.וַ֠יֹּאמֶר יְחִזְקִיָּ֨הוּ הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ וְהַשָּׂרִים֙ לַלְוִיִּ֔ם לְהַלֵּל֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה בְּדִבְרֵ֥י דָוִ֖יד וְאָסָ֣ף הַחֹזֶ֑ה וַֽיְהַלְלוּ֙ עַד־לְשִׂמְחָ֔ה וַֽיִּקְּד֖וּ וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ׃ פThen King Hezekiah and his officials ordered the Levites to sing praises to the LORD in the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with gladness and bowed down and worshiped.

Letterlik: Saam met is letterlik: op die hande van.31Toe het Hiskia geantwoord en gesê: “Nou het julle julle aan die HERE toegewy; kom nader en bring slagoffers en dankoffers na die huis van die HERE.” En die vergadering het slagoffers en dankoffers gebring, en elkeen wat gewillig van hart was, brandoffers.וַיַּ֨עַן יְחִזְקִיָּ֜הוּ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר עַתָּ֨ה מִלֵּאתֶ֤ם יֶדְכֶם֙ לַיהוָ֔ה גֹּ֧שׁוּ וְהָבִ֛יאוּ זְבָחִ֥ים וְתוֹד֖וֹת לְבֵ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה וַיָּבִ֤יאוּ הַקָּהָל֙ זְבָחִ֣ים וְתוֹד֔וֹת וְכָל־נְדִ֥יב לֵ֖ב עֹלֽוֹת׃Then Hezekiah said, “Now that you have consecrated yourselves to the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings to the house of the LORD.” So the assembly brought sacrifices and thank offerings, and all whose hearts were willing brought burnt offerings. 32En die getal brandoffers wat die vergadering gebring het, was 70 beeste, 100 ramme, 200 lammers; dit alles as brandoffer vir die HERE.וַיְהִ֞י מִסְפַּ֣ר הָעֹלָה֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֵבִ֣יאוּ הַקָּהָל֒ בָּקָ֣ר שִׁבְעִ֔ים אֵילִ֥ים מֵאָ֖ה כְּבָשִׂ֣ים מָאתָ֑יִם לְעֹלָ֥ה לַיהוָ֖ה כָּל־אֵֽלֶּה׃The number of burnt offerings the assembly brought was seventy bulls, a hundred rams, and two hundred lambs; all these were for a burnt offering to the LORD. 33En die geheiligde gawes was 600 beeste en 3 000 stuks kleinvee.וְֽהַקֳּדָשִׁ֑ים בָּקָר֙ שֵׁ֣שׁ מֵא֔וֹת וְצֹ֖אן שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת אֲלָפִֽים׃And the consecrated offerings were six hundred bulls and three thousand sheep. 34Maar die priesters was te min, en hulle kon nie al die brandoffers afstroop nie; en hulle broers, die Leviete, het hulle gehelp totdat die werk klaar was en totdat die priesters hulle geheilig het, want die Leviete was opregter van hart om hulle te heilig as die priesters.רַ֤ק הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ הָי֣וּ לִמְעָ֔ט וְלֹ֣א יָֽכְל֔וּ לְהַפְשִׁ֖יט אֶת־כָּל־הָעֹל֑וֹת וַֽיְּחַזְּק֞וּם אֲחֵיהֶ֣ם הַלְוִיִּ֗ם עַד־כְּל֤וֹת הַמְּלָאכָה֙ וְעַ֣ד יִתְקַדְּשׁ֣וּ הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֔ים כִּ֤י הַלְוִיִּם֙ יִשְׁרֵ֣י לֵבָ֔ב לְהִתְקַדֵּ֖שׁ מֵֽהַכֹּהֲנִֽים׃However, since there were not enough priests to skin all the burnt offerings, their Levite brothers helped them until the work was finished and until the priests had consecrated themselves. For the Levites had been more diligent in consecrating themselves than the priests had been. 35Daar was ook brandoffers in menigte, met die vet van die vredeoffers en met die drankoffers by die brandoffer. So is die diens van die huis van die HERE gevestig.וְגַם־עֹלָ֨ה לָרֹ֜ב בְּחֶלְבֵ֧י הַשְּׁלָמִ֛ים וּבַנְּסָכִ֖ים לָעֹלָ֑ה וַתִּכּ֖וֹן עֲבוֹדַ֥ת בֵּית־יְהוָֽה׃Furthermore, the burnt offerings were abundant, along with the fat of the peace offerings and the drink offerings for the burnt offerings. So the service of the house of the LORD was established. 36Hiskia en die hele volk het bly geword oor wat God vir die volk gereedgemaak het, want die saak het skielik gebeur.וַיִּשְׂמַ֤ח יְחִזְקִיָּ֨הוּ֙ וְכָל־הָעָ֔ם עַ֛ל הַהֵכִ֥ין הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים לָעָ֑ם כִּ֥י בְּפִתְאֹ֖ם הָיָ֥ה הַדָּבָֽר׃ פThen Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced at what God had prepared for the people, because everything had been accomplished so quickly.
