7In die derde jaar van sy regering het hy sy owerstes gestuur: Ben-Chajil, Obadja, Sagaria, Netanel en Mikaja, om in die stede van Juda te onderrig.וּבִשְׁנַ֨ת שָׁל֜וֹשׁ לְמָלְכ֗וֹ שָׁלַ֤ח לְשָׂרָיו֙ לְבֶן־חַ֨יִל֙ וּלְעֹבַדְיָ֣ה וְלִזְכַרְיָ֔ה וְלִנְתַנְאֵ֖ל וּלְמִיכָיָ֑הוּ לְלַמֵּ֖ד בְּעָרֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃In the third year of his reign, Jehoshaphat sent his officials Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah to teach in the cities of Judah,8En saam met hulle die Leviete: Semaja en Netanja en Sebadja en Asael en Jonatan en Adonia en Tobia en Tob-Adonia, die Leviete; en saam met hulle Elisama en Joram, die priesters.וְעִמָּהֶ֣ם הַלְוִיִּ֗ם שְֽׁמַֽעְיָ֡הוּ וּנְתַנְיָ֡הוּ וּזְבַדְיָ֡הוּ וַעֲשָׂהאֵ֡ל וִֽיהוֹנָתָן֩ וַאֲדֹ֨נִיָּ֧הוּ וְטֽוֹבִיָּ֛הוּ וְט֥וֹב אֲדוֹנִיָּ֖ה הַלְוִיִּ֑ם וְעִמָּהֶ֛ם אֱלִישָׁמָ֥ע וִֽיהוֹרָ֖ם הַכֹּהֲנִֽים׃accompanied by certain Levites—Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah—along with the priests Elishama and Jehoram.9En hulle het in Juda onderrig gegee, en die boek van die wet van die HERE was by hulle; en hulle het deur al die stede van Juda rondgegaan en die volk onderrig.וַֽיְלַמְּדוּ֙ בִּֽיהוּדָ֔ה וְעִ֨מָּהֶ֔ם סֵ֖פֶר תּוֹרַ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה וַיָּסֹ֨בּוּ֙ בְּכָל־עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה וַֽיְלַמְּד֖וּ בָּעָֽם׃They taught throughout Judah, taking with them the Book of the Law of the LORD. 12En Josafat het al hoe groter geword, tot uitermate groot, en hy het in Juda vestings en voorraadstede gebou.וַיְהִ֧י יְהוֹשָׁפָ֛ט הֹלֵ֥ךְ וְגָדֵ֖ל עַד־לְמָ֑עְלָה וַיִּ֧בֶן בִּֽיהוּדָ֛ה בִּירָנִיּ֖וֹת וְעָרֵ֥י מִסְכְּנֽוֹת׃Jehoshaphat grew stronger and stronger, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah13Hy het baie werk gehad in die stede van Juda; en krygsmanne, helde van krag, in Jerusalem.וּמְלָאכָ֥ה רַבָּ֛ה הָ֥יָה ל֖וֹ בְּעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה וְאַנְשֵׁ֧י מִלְחָמָ֛ה גִּבּ֥וֹרֵי חַ֖יִל בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃and kept vast supplies in the cities of Judah. He also had warriors in Jerusalem who were mighty men of valor.
14En dit is hulle getelde getalle volgens die huis van hulle vaders: van Juda, owerstes oor duisende: Adna die owerste, en saam met hom helde van krag, 300 000.וְאֵ֥לֶּה פְקֻדָּתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם לִֽיהוּדָה֙ שָׂרֵ֣י אֲלָפִ֔ים עַדְנָ֣ה הַשָּׂ֔ר וְעִמּוֹ֙ גִּבּ֣וֹרֵי חַ֔יִל שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת אָֽלֶף׃ סThese are their numbers according to the houses of their fathers: From Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander, and with him 300,000 mighty men of valor;15En naas hom Johanan, die owerste, en saam met hom 280 000.aLetterlik: aan sy hand.וְעַל־יָד֖וֹ יְהוֹחָנָ֣ן הַשָּׂ֑ר וְעִמּ֕וֹ מָאתַ֥יִם וּשְׁמוֹנִ֖ים אָֽלֶף׃ סnext to him, Jehohanan the commander, and with him 280,000;16En aan sy sy Amasja, die seun van Sigri, wat homself vrywillig aan die HERE gegee het; en saam met hom 200 000 helde van krag.וְעַל־יָדוֹ֙ עֲמַסְיָ֣ה בֶן־זִכְרִ֔י הַמִּתְנַדֵּ֖ב לַיהוָ֑ה וְעִמּ֛וֹ מָאתַ֥יִם אֶ֖לֶף גִּבּ֥וֹר חָֽיִל׃ סand next to him, Amasiah son of Zichri, the volunteer for the LORD, and with him 200,000 mighty men of valor.17En van Benjamin: Eljada, ’n held van krag, en saam met hom 200 000 wat met boog en skild gewapen was.וּמִ֨ן־בִּנְיָמִ֔ן גִּבּ֥וֹר חַ֖יִל אֶלְיָדָ֑ע וְעִמּ֛וֹ נֹֽשְׁקֵי־קֶ֥שֶׁת וּמָגֵ֖ן מָאתַ֥יִם אָֽלֶף׃ סFrom Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valor, and with him 200,000 armed with bows and shields;18En naas hom Josabad, en saam met hom 180 000 wat vir die oorlog toegerus was.aLetterlik: toegerustes van die leër.וְעַל־יָד֖וֹ יְהוֹזָבָ֑ד וְעִמּ֛וֹ מֵאָֽה־וּשְׁמוֹנִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף חֲלוּצֵ֥י צָבָֽא׃ סand next to him, Jehozabad, and with him 180,000 armed for battle.19Dit is hulle wat die koning gedien het, behalwe dié wat die koning in die versterkte stede in die hele Juda geplaas het.אֵ֖לֶּה הַמְשָׁרְתִ֣ים אֶת־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ מִלְּבַ֞ד אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥ן הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ בְּעָרֵ֥י הַמִּבְצָ֖ר בְּכָל־יְהוּדָֽה׃ פThese were the men who served the king, besides those he stationed in the fortified cities throughout Judah.
