Repent and perform the deeds you did at first. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer tribulation for ten days. 12En skryf aan die engel van die gemeente in Pergamum: Dit sê Hy wat die skerp tweesnydende swaard het:Καὶ τῷ ἀγγέλῳ τῆς ἐν Περγάμῳ ἐκκλησίας γράψον· Τάδε λέγει ὁ ἔχων τὴν ῥομφαίαν τὴν δίστομον τὴν ὀξεῖαν·To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of the One who holds the sharp, double-edged sword. 13Ek weet waar jy woon, waar die troon van Satan is, en jy hou vas aan My naam, en jy het My geloof nie verloën nie, ook nie in die dae van Antipas, My getuie, My getroue, wat by julle gedood is, waar Satan woon.⸀Οἶδα ποῦ κατοικεῖς, ὅπου ὁ θρόνος τοῦ Σατανᾶ, καὶ κρατεῖς τὸ ὄνομά μου, καὶ οὐκ ἠρνήσω τὴν πίστιν μου ⸀καὶ ἐν ταῖς ⸀ἡμέραις Ἀντιπᾶς, ὁ μάρτυς μου, ὁ πιστός ⸀μου, ὃς ἀπεκτάνθη παρʼ ὑμῖν, ὅπου ὁ Σατανᾶς κατοικεῖ.I know where you live, where the throne of Satan sits, yet you hold fast to My name. You did not deny your faith in Me, even in the days of My faithful witness Antipas, who was killed among you where Satan dwells. 14Maar Ek het ’n paar dinge teen jou, dat jy daar mense het wat vashou aan die leer van Bileam, wat Balak geleer het om ’n struikelblok voor die kinders van Israel te lê, om te eet wat aan afgode geoffer is en om onsedelikheid te pleeg.

Otherwise I will come to you shortly and wage war against them with the sword of My mouth. 17Wie ’n oor het, laat hom hoor wat die Gees aan die gemeentes sê. Aan hom wat oorwin, sal Ek gee van die verborge manna, en Ek sal hom ’n wit steentjie gee, en op die steentjie ’n nuwe naam geskryf wat niemand ken nie, behalwe hy wat dit ontvang.”

To the one who overcomes, I will give the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone inscribed with a new name, known only to the one who receives it.

Καὶ τῷ ἀγγέλῳ ⸀τῆς ἐν Θυατείροις ἐκκλησίας γράψον· Τάδε λέγει ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ, ὁ ἔχων τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ ὡς φλόγα πυρός, καὶ οἱ πόδες αὐτοῦ ὅμοιοι χαλκολιβάνῳ·To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like a blazing fire and whose feet are like polished bronze. 19“Ek ken jou werke, en jou liefde en geloof en diens en volharding, en jou laaste werke is meer as die eerste.Οἶδά σου τὰ ἔργα, καὶ τὴν ⸂ἀγάπην καὶ τὴν πίστιν⸃ καὶ τὴν διακονίαν καὶ τὴν ὑπομονήν σου, καὶ τὰ ἔργα σου τὰ ἔσχατα πλείονα τῶν πρώτων.I know your deeds—your love, your faith, your service, your perseverance—and your latest deeds are greater than your first. 20Maar Ek het dit teen jou dat jy die vrou Isebel toelaat, wat haarself ’n profetes noem, en sy leer en verlei My slawe om onsedelikheid te pleeg en te eet wat aan afgode geoffer is.

ἀλλὰ ἔχω κατὰ σοῦ ὅτι ἀφεῖς τὴν ⸀γυναῖκα Ἰεζάβελ, ἡ ⸀λέγουσα ἑαυτὴν προφῆτιν, καὶ διδάσκει καὶ πλανᾷ τοὺς ἐμοὺς δούλους πορνεῦσαι καὶ φαγεῖν εἰδωλόθυτα.But I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads My servants to be sexually immoral and to eat food sacrificed to idols. 21En Ek het haar tyd gegee sodat sy haar kan bekeer, en sy wil haar nie bekeer van haar onsedelikheid nie.καὶ ἔδωκα αὐτῇ χρόνον ἵνα μετανοήσῃ, καὶ οὐ θέλει μετανοῆσαι ἐκ τῆς πορνείας αὐτῆς.Even though I have given her time to repent of her immorality, she is unwilling. 22Kyk, Ek werp haar op ’n bed, en die wat met haar egbreuk pleeg, in groot verdrukking, as hulle hulle nie van haar werke bekeer nie;ἰδοὺ βάλλω αὐτὴν εἰς κλίνην, καὶ τοὺς μοιχεύοντας μετʼ αὐτῆς εἰς θλῖψιν μεγάλην, ἐὰν μὴ ⸀μετανοήσωσιν ἐκ τῶν ἔργων αὐτῆς·Behold, I will cast her onto a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her will suffer great tribulation unless they repent of her deeds. 23En haar kinders sal Ek deur die dood ombring; en al die gemeentes sal weet dat Ek dit is wat niere en harte deursoek, en Ek sal aan elkeen van julle gee volgens julle werke.
