1In daardie tyd het Jesus op die sabbat deur die graanlande geloop, en Sy dissipels het honger geword en begin are afpluk en eet.Ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῷ καιρῷ ἐπορεύθη ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοῖς σάββασιν διὰ τῶν σπορίμων· οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπείνασαν καὶ ἤρξαντο τίλλειν στάχυας καὶ ἐσθίειν.At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them. 2Maar toe die Fariseërs dit sien, het hulle vir Hom gesê: “Kyk, U dissipels doen wat nie geoorloof is om op die sabbat te doen nie.”οἱ δὲ Φαρισαῖοι ἰδόντες εἶπαν αὐτῷ· Ἰδοὺ οἱ μαθηταί σου ποιοῦσιν ὃ οὐκ ἔξεστιν ποιεῖν ἐν σαββάτῳ.When the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.” 3Maar Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Het julle nie gelees wat Dawid gedoen het toe hy honger geword het, en dié wat by hom was,ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Οὐκ ἀνέγνωτε τί ἐποίησεν Δαυὶδ ὅτε ⸀ἐπείνασεν καὶ οἱ μετʼ αὐτοῦ;Jesus replied, “Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?
πῶς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους τῆς προθέσεως ⸂ἔφαγον, ὃ⸃ οὐκ ἐξὸν ἦν αὐτῷ φαγεῖν οὐδὲ τοῖς μετʼ αὐτοῦ, εἰ μὴ τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν μόνοις;He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for them to eat, but only for the priests.
5Of het julle nie in die wet gelees dat die priesters op die sabbat in die tempel die sabbat ontheilig en onskuldig is nie?ἢ οὐκ ἀνέγνωτε ἐν τῷ νόμῳ ὅτι τοῖς σάββασιν οἱ ἱερεῖς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ τὸ σάββατον βεβηλοῦσιν καὶ ἀναίτιοί εἰσιν;Or haven’t you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and yet are innocent? 6Maar Ek sê vir julle dat iets groter as die tempel hier is.λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι τοῦ ἱεροῦ μεῖζόν ἐστιν ὧδε.But I tell you that One greater than the temple is here.
If only you had known the meaning of ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.
8Want die Seun van die mens is Here van die sabbat.”κύριος γάρ ἐστιν τοῦ σαββάτου ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
9En Hy het daarvandaan weggegaan en in hulle sinagoge gekom.Καὶ μεταβὰς ἐκεῖθεν ἦλθεν εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν αὐτῶν·Moving on from there, Jesus entered their synagogue, 10En kyk, daar was 'n mens met 'n verdorde hand. En hulle het Hom gevra en gesê: “Is dit geoorloof om op die sabbat te genees?” sodat hulle Hom kon aanklaag.καὶ ἰδοὺ ⸀ἄνθρωπος χεῖρα ἔχων ξηράν. καὶ ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν λέγοντες· Εἰ ἔξεστι τοῖς σάββασιν ⸀θεραπεύειν; ἵνα κατηγορήσωσιν αὐτοῦ.and a man with a withered hand was there. In order to accuse Jesus, they asked Him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?” 11Maar Hy het vir hulle gesê: “Watter mens is daar onder julle wat een skaap sal hê, en as dit op die sabbat in 'n gat val, sal hy dit nie gryp en optrek nie?ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Τίς ⸀ἔσται ἐξ ὑμῶν ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἕξει πρόβατον ἕν, καὶ ἐὰν ἐμπέσῃ τοῦτο τοῖς σάββασιν εἰς βόθυνον, οὐχὶ κρατήσει αὐτὸ καὶ ἐγερεῖ;He replied, “If one of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out?
How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
Then Jesus said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out, and it was restored to full use, just like the other. But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.
καὶ ἠκολούθησαν ⸀αὐτῷ πολλοί, καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτοὺς πάντας,Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Large crowds followed Him, and He healed them all,
16en Hy het hulle streng beveel dat hulle Hom nie bekend moet maak nie,καὶ ἐπετίμησεν αὐτοῖς ἵνα μὴ φανερὸν αὐτὸν ποιήσωσιν,warning them not to make Him known. 17sodat vervul sou word wat gesê is deur Jesaja, die profeet, wat sê:⸀ἵνα πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ Ἠσαΐου τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος·This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: 18“Kyk, my kneg wat Ek uitgekies het, my geliefde in wie my siel behae gehad het; Ek sal my Gees op Hom lê, en oordeel sal Hy aan die nasies verkondig.
aAanhaling uit Jesaja 42:1-4.
bOf: kind.
Ἰδοὺ ὁ παῖς μου ὃν ᾑρέτισα, ὁ ἀγαπητός μου ⸂εἰς ὃν⸃ εὐδόκησεν ἡ ψυχή μου· θήσω τὸ πνεῦμά μου ἐπʼ αὐτόν, καὶ κρίσιν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἀπαγγελεῖ.“Here is My Servant, whom I have chosen, My beloved, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will proclaim justice to the nations.
19Hy sal nie twis of skreeu nie, en niemand sal Sy stem op die straatpleine hoor nie.οὐκ ἐρίσει οὐδὲ κραυγάσει, οὐδὲ ἀκούσει τις ἐν ταῖς πλατείαις τὴν φωνὴν αὐτοῦ.He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear His voice in the streets.
A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not extinguish, till He leads justice to victory.
In His name the nations will put their hope.”
Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute was brought to Jesus, and He healed the man so that he could speak and see.
23En al die skares was verbaas en het gesê: “Dit is tog nie die Seun van Dawid nie?”καὶ ἐξίσταντο πάντες οἱ ὄχλοι καὶ ἔλεγον· Μήτι οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς Δαυίδ;The crowds were astounded and asked, “Could this be the Son of David?” 24Maar toe die Fariseërs dit hoor, het hulle gesê: “Hierdie een dryf die demone nie uit nie, behalwe deur Beëlsebul, die heerser van die demone.”οἱ δὲ Φαρισαῖοι ἀκούσαντες εἶπον· Οὗτος οὐκ ἐκβάλλει τὰ δαιμόνια εἰ μὴ ἐν τῷ Βεελζεβοὺλ ἄρχοντι τῶν δαιμονίων.But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “Only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, does this man drive out demons.” 25Maar omdat Hy hulle gedagtes geken het, het Hy vir hulle gesê: “Elke koninkryk wat teen homself verdeeld is, word verwoes, en elke stad of huis wat teen homself verdeeld is, sal nie bly staan nie.εἰδὼς ⸀δὲ τὰς ἐνθυμήσεις αὐτῶν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Πᾶσα βασιλεία μερισθεῖσα καθʼ ἑαυτῆς ἐρημοῦται, καὶ πᾶσα πόλις ἢ οἰκία μερισθεῖσα καθʼ ἑαυτῆς οὐ σταθήσεται.Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26En as Satan Satan uitdryf, is hy teen homself verdeeld; hoe sal sy koninkryk dan bly staan?καὶ εἰ ὁ Σατανᾶς τὸν Σατανᾶν ἐκβάλλει, ἐφʼ ἑαυτὸν ἐμερίσθη· πῶς οὖν σταθήσεται ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ;If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? Daarom sal hulle self julle regters wees.καὶ εἰ ἐγὼ ἐν Βεελζεβοὺλ ἐκβάλλω τὰ δαιμόνια, οἱ υἱοὶ ὑμῶν ἐν τίνι ἐκβάλλουσιν; διὰ τοῦτο αὐτοὶ ⸂κριταὶ ἔσονται ὑμῶν⸃.And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 28Maar as Ek deur die Gees van God die demone uitdryf, dan het die koninkryk van God inderdaad oor julle gekom.εἰ δὲ ἐν πνεύματι θεοῦ ἐγὼ ἐκβάλλω τὰ δαιμόνια, ἄρα ἔφθασεν ἐφʼ ὑμᾶς ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ.But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and steal his possessions, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house. 30Wie nie met My is nie, is teen My, en wie nie saam met My bymekaarmaak nie, verstrooi.ὁ μὴ ὢν μετʼ ἐμοῦ κατʼ ἐμοῦ ἐστιν, καὶ ὁ μὴ συνάγων μετʼ ἐμοῦ σκορπίζει.He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32En wie ook al 'n woord teen die Seun van die mens spreek, dit sal hom vergewe word; maar wie ook al teen die Heilige Gees spreek, dit sal hom nie vergewe word nie, nie in hierdie eeu nie en ook nie in die komende een nie.καὶ ὃς ἐὰν εἴπῃ λόγον κατὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου, ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ· ὃς δʼ ἂν εἴπῃ κατὰ τοῦ πνεύματος τοῦ ἁγίου, οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ οὔτε ἐν ⸂τούτῳ τῷ⸃ αἰῶνι οὔτε ἐν τῷ μέλλοντι.Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the one to come.
Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is known by its fruit. 34Addergebroedsel, hoe kan julle goeie dinge spreek terwyl julle boos is? You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure. 36Maar Ek sê vir julle: elke nuttelose woord wat die mense sal spreek, daarvan sal hulle rekenskap gee op die dag van die oordeel.λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι πᾶν ῥῆμα ἀργὸν ὃ ⸀λαλήσουσιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι, ἀποδώσουσιν περὶ αὐτοῦ λόγον ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως·But I tell you that men will give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37Want uit jou woorde sal jy geregverdig word, en uit jou woorde sal jy veroordeel word.”ἐκ γὰρ τῶν λόγων σου δικαιωθήσῃ, καὶ ἐκ τῶν λόγων σου καταδικασθήσῃ.For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.” 39Maar Hy het geantwoord en vir hulle gesê: “'n Bose en owerspelige geslag soek 'n teken, en geen teken sal daaraan gegee word nie behalwe die teken van Jona, die profeet.ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Γενεὰ πονηρὰ καὶ μοιχαλὶς σημεῖον ἐπιζητεῖ, καὶ σημεῖον οὐ δοθήσεται αὐτῇ εἰ μὴ τὸ σημεῖον Ἰωνᾶ τοῦ προφήτου.Jesus replied, “A wicked and adulterous generation demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41Manne, Nineviete, sal in die oordeel saam met hierdie geslag opstaan en dit veroordeel, want hulle het hulle bekeer by die prediking van Jona, en kyk, hier is meer as Jona.ἄνδρες Νινευῖται ἀναστήσονται ἐν τῇ κρίσει μετὰ τῆς γενεᾶς ταύτης καὶ κατακρινοῦσιν αὐτήν· ὅτι μετενόησαν εἰς τὸ κήρυγμα Ἰωνᾶ, καὶ ἰδοὺ πλεῖον Ἰωνᾶ ὧδε.The men of Nineveh will stand at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now One greater than Jonah is here. 42Die koningin van die suide sal in die oordeel saam met hierdie geslag opgewek word en dit veroordeel, want sy het van die uithoeke van die aarde gekom om die wysheid van Salomo te hoor, en kyk, hier is meer as Salomo.”βασίλισσα νότου ἐγερθήσεται ἐν τῇ κρίσει μετὰ τῆς γενεᾶς ταύτης καὶ κατακρινεῖ αὐτήν· ὅτι ἦλθεν ἐκ τῶν περάτων τῆς γῆς ἀκοῦσαι τὴν σοφίαν Σολομῶνος, καὶ ἰδοὺ πλεῖον Σολομῶνος ὧδε.The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and now One greater than Solomon is here.
When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44Dan sê hy: ‘Na my huis sal ek terugkeer, waarvandaan ek uitgegaan het.’ Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ On its return, it finds the house vacant, swept clean, and put in order. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there. And the final plight of that man is worse than the first. So will it be with this wicked generation.”
While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to Him. 47En iemand het vir Hom gesê: “Kyk, U moeder en U broers staan buite en soek om met U te praat.”
aSommige manuskripte lees: Sommige manuskripte laat hierdie vers uit.
⸂εἶπεν δέ τις αὐτῷ· Ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ἔξω ἑστήκασιν, ζητοῦντές σοι λαλῆσαι.⸃Someone told Him, “Look, Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to You.”
48Maar Hy het geantwoord en vir die een wat dit vir Hom sê, gesê: “Wie is My moeder, en wie is My broers?”ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν τῷ ⸀λέγοντι αὐτῷ· Τίς ἐστιν ἡ μήτηρ μου, καὶ τίνες εἰσὶν οἱ ἀδελφοί μου;But Jesus replied, “Who is My mother, and who are My brothers?” 49En Hy het Sy hand uitgesteek na Sy dissipels en gesê: “Kyk, my moeder en my broers!καὶ ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν· Ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου·Pointing to His disciples, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers. 50Want wie ook al die wil van My Vader wat in die hemele is, doen, hy is My broer en suster en moeder.”ὅστις γὰρ ἂν ποιήσῃ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς, αὐτός μου ἀδελφὸς καὶ ἀδελφὴ καὶ μήτηρ ἐστίν.For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”
